  1. The FTF I put in this cache (GCPB9P) was a round trip caching trip to Alaska. (I took 8 cachers to Alaska for 3 days of caching in Sept '05.) This cache memorializes the trip. (GCQRV4).

TIAG picked up 2 round trip Guest passes on Alaska Airlines from this cache (GCRKB9) and are headed off to Texas in 4 days to visit Pepper.

  2. Here's a question for my geocaching community (esp. Seattle, but also NW in general): is it considered bad form to go after something particularly enticing that's placed in one of my caches, or should I just keep my paws off the swag in my cache and leave them for my customers? And for the record, I'm considering swag, not sig items or tb's.

    Team Maccabee

I had a M10B coin land in my cache DEAD DOLL DITCH. I lit out of the house like my hair was on fire and I feel no regret at my reaction. The thought in the back of my head was "How the heck do I trade up or trade even for a M10B coin?" Can't be done.

I do a bit of collecting so I've taken coins (Very few) I don't have, out of my caches but always left more than I've taken. To be honest I prefer to leave than take. I say, if you note something in YOUR cache that you want. Go for it and replace even Steven as best you can.

  3. I might be able to clean it up. Maybe I'll start leaving firewood in caches until it gone...

No caching for me for a while. Can't walk, can't drive, need to fix up the backyard - ain't life grand! :D

Weather is supposed to be nice Thur and I have the day off. Also have a chainsaw. I'd be happy to come over and at least hack up some of that tree. My back is bad enough I don't do much hauling but I can flat run a saw. I've also been known to place firewood as caches :D

(I'm off Wed too but my fence in the backyard blew a couple sections out today and thats 1st on the list.)

  4. The new Garmin 60cx and 60csx are already in the hands of some lucky cachers. The others in the x series are expected to be shipped soon such as the 76cx and the 76csx. No, I won't be getting one, I am already GPS poor. They are suppose to

get a lock indoors and under heavy canopy and maintain it. Also more accurate. I hope to see a few in the Expert Site at the GPS Accuracy Contest. Are any of you planing on being there with one of the new X series. Good place to show it off.

Just ordered a 76CSX. I'm working on my schedule to be there. Lightly used 76CS for sale :D

gg's maggie kicks my --- under any cover. It will be interesting to see what Garmin has cooked up.

  5. ARRRGH-- my kitchen pass is starting to smoulder.:D

Seems tomorrow will be spent under the hood of the truck replacing a water pump and thermostat. Followed immediately by replacing the house water heater lower element. (Hmmmm 3rd one in a month plus 1 thermostat. :D:D )

  6. Oh yea but since he huffed at you, it would seem he was already agitated.  That would scare me.

I've had a few bear encounters (1 as close as 15' in heavy cover and 1 at 3' inside a tent.) both Black and Brown. I always took the huff or woof to mean "Move it or Lose it" and took immediate appropriate action. Cleaning out the shorts came later. :)

  7. Make that The Jester & Blooming Idiot.

Cent5, I'm planning on my van (seats 7) but I'll know for sure later today as I'm taking it in to have a leak fixed - unless you guys want to swim to the caches!  :) The recent rains sure found their way in.

    Wed - 6:30 sounds good at Applebee's.

Thurs - 8:00 sounds good, that will give us time to do them all and maybe grab lunch somewher.

I drop my daughter off at school at 8 and it's going to take me 20 minutes to get to the meeting spot. I can always park and walk down to the ferry and meet you there.

  8. You just never know but from our experience we've gotten wetter from plowing through brush in the woods than we've gotten from actual rain hitting us.

    All I can say is...two words... GOR-TEX!

After some bushwhacking out behind Silverdale today - I'm thinking a wetsuit would be useful caching garb. Does PADI have a "Forest with too damm much Salal" certification?

A drysuit with mask and snorkle would have come in handy in Bellingham this weekend. I'll check on the PADI cert. :D

I wear neoprene chest waders over shorts and a Gore-tex top. Like my Timex it's certified to about 30 FT. :)

  9. I also hear that Prying Pandora hit 1900 today! Congratulations!

Astounding! She just hit 1800 on Jan 1! At this rate 2000 by the end of the month?? Congrats!

I also hear she has developed webbed feet. :D

    Congrats Cathy :)
