  1. It seems you cache under a different name - sorry civilised edited to add :- I pay for the membership because it makes it possible to download full cache descriptions - which can then go into my pda - which allows me to go paperless - which means I don't have to print out every cache for 25 miles around. I wouldn't go back. Not so interested about member only caches, new cache notifications etc. civ
  2. I'm not trying to be rude - but it seems that you haven't yet found any caches - is that right ? If so - might be best to find some first before you decide civilised
  3. On a maintenance visit to my own cache (only have one at the moment) I dropped off a geocoin and a TB. That night, someone came along that had already visited once and plundered the goodies. To make matters worse they didn't even sign the log book to record their second visit.... so the next day a new cacher came along expecting to be able to bag their first geocoin only to find it missing without a trace. Did they log the movements on line ? That would keep the mileage up to date on the trackables - a physical log in the cache doesn't affect it. More generally, if you put iconable items into any cache then I think it's shortsighted to believe that only people who haven't found the cache should, or will, go for them. Human nature is what it is. Are we releasing TBs and geocoins to travel or to reward/entice finders ? civilised
  4. This is a classic example of everyone playing the game in their own way - I have no worries at all about revisiting caches for icons I don't possess. Some reasons - Travel Bugs are expected to travel; anyone else has exactly the same chance as me to visit or revisit a cache for an icon, in the same way that people choose to FTF; it doesn't make me feel selfish I think that in Chaotica_UK's case, logging the coin but not moving it would be against my policy That's the beauty of this - as so many people keep saying - play it your way, within the guidelines. civilised
  5. Have you asked the owner? - seems a shame civilised
  6. gone a bit quiet - did The Forester take the advice too seriously ? civilised
  7. I'm for bed Godfather Part 2 - Hyman Roth You got it - ask a question civilised
  8. Keep your friends close - but your enemies closer - who was he talking about ? civilised
  9. Not so hot on word puzzles but I do know that rhythm contains only consonants, unless of course you count y as a vowel - but then that gives us 6 vowels, then again there were 10 vowel characters in the Anglo Saxon runic futhorc so then we have to find a word with o, u, i, eo, e, oe, a, ae, io & ea in that order. But then of course there are 20 vowel sounds in modern English ... oh dear my brain hurts Only kiddingcivilised and before you ask the rune thing is to do with a revamped cache, and not mine (I was only doing some research) so its not a promo to attract people to a certain quay in North Norfolk. I'm lost - do they speak a different language in East Anglia - or is it proximity to the Queen perhaps Anyway, answer the question - I've been up a long time - need my bed now civilised
  10. Close - very very close - pin it down - you have all the info now And I'm going to bed civilised
  11. In that case it must be John Hurt's tortured drunk Billy Irvine in "Heaven's Gate". Having said that it sounds a bit too film noire for Michael Chimino. I know it's not Millers Crossing which leaves a handfull of others, can't see it being Chinatown which leaves Mulholland Drive, LA Confidential and Road to Perdition. Mind you it could be Solaris, but is that crime? I can see I've been a bit cruel here - does Lee Strasberg help at all ? civilised
  12. No The Golem is a novel by Isaac Beshevis Singer. The actual Golem is a magical creature of Yiddish mythology who was created by a Rabbi to protect the Jewish people in medieval times. He was made from clay and brought to life using Cabalistic powers. So the message is buy those Madonna albums or expect a giant clay man speaking Yiddish to turn up at your front door, and he wont be bringing blinis and gefilte fish, my boy! I refer you to my previous answer I was attempting, unsuccesfully, to be facetious And by the way - did you know that facetious, as a word, contains all the English vowels in the correct order ? Is there another one ? Or is that a question for another day ? civilised
  13. Think classic films - of the last 30 years approx - with a crime background - with some decent actors civilised
  14. nope civilised PS actually looking for a character not just the film civ
  15. Sorry for the delay - had to get home from work - thanks for waiting. Which character - in a classic film - defined the activities of virtually every other character in the words ' This is the life we chose ' ? civilised
  16. not the same thing.... I know that - I was just surprised that the question setter was asking a question about his own interaction with a fictional character civilised
  17. So should I email them? I will be very surprised if one of the GAGB Committee has not read this topic and will post a reply soon. But if it worries you why not copy your original posting to the GAGB forum. I wouldn't be too surprised civilised
  18. If anyone had told me a year ago last January that I would willingly walk miles - literally miles - to find a box ( or an earth cache with no box ) whose contents were of absolutely mimimal interest to anyone with sense... If they told me that I would do this in downpours of rain at which I previously looked out the window and thought - pity the poor b*gger out in that... If they told me that I would start buying my own boxes and placing them - filling them with more things of minimal interest to normal people ( see above )... I would have laughed. In this last 17 months I've walked further, seen more interesting things on my own doorstep that I never dreamed were there, and had fun thinking of places to set my own caches. That's why I like caching. civilised
