  4. Windsor is the adopted name of the Saxe-Coburg Göta Weitin Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksberg family and Siggy is the adpoted name of Bob Marley's eldest son David Marley. Frank Windsor played the character Ranulph in the Dr Who episode "The King's Demons"(it was the episode immediately prior to "The 5 Doctors") and of course Bob Marley's yougest son is Damion Marley, also Ester Freud played the part of Threst in "Attack of the Cybermen". Esther Freud is of course the greatgranddaughter of Sigmund Freud and is now better known as the writter of Hideously Kinky in which Kate Winslett played the young Esther, Wislett famously stared in Titanic and the Queen Mary (named after a member of the Windsor/Saxe-Coburg Göta Weitin Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksberg) now houses an exhibition on the discovery of the Titanic.... am I out of ideas yet ... no way ...but how might Siggy Freud's researches help me in an eye clinic? cocaine dodgydave ? civilised
  5. I've done 4 of the 5 you did in Wiltshire - I think you just picked the wrong ones The Kennet & Avon canal is always busy - particularly Caen Flight ( probably the largest engineering works on a canal in the south of England ) and Semington Aqueduct ( the first canal aqueduct built in perhaps 100 years ). Right on the Marketplace is in Devizes town centre, so lots of people again. On The Love Walk you were probably muggled by all the rich folk on ride-on mowers as you walked the footpath through their back gardens I'm completely the opposite - I hardly see anyone when caching round here, and I'm often surprised by just how empty the contryside is ( apart from cows ) When and if you revisit here - try Wheel of Fortune GCN58H, Yatton Keynell GCJ9AA, Bluebells and Bracken at Naish Hill GCJPMC for examples of caches which I found spookily devoid of other people. And yes, there are some great caches - we have 2 of the most prolific cache setters working in this area ( The Wombles and Gowenhouse ) and Daisy & Me just to the east - we are very lucky Hope you had a good trip. civilised - from Wiltshire
  6. I was never petrified of them till I started caching - never had much to do with them really - but I remember my father telling me that cattle are perfectly safe. On a cache last year, me, my son, my son's friend and my wife's dog were chased very seriously by a herd of cattle - not sure what their intention was and didn't wait to find out. Since then, and having read about people actually trampled to death by cattle, I now refuse to cross anywhere where cows lurk - pretty ambivalent about horses too. Luckily Wiltshire is mostly sheep country - sheep are grand - always move aside politely and never chase. civilised
  7. Where do you get these from ? TIA civilised
  8. What about the red herring - are we being led in the wrong direction civilised
  9. The Additional Waypoints requested are submitted as "Hidden" ones. This means that only the cache owner and reviewers can see them, the cache owner can only see them if they go to the Edit Waypoint page for that cache. They are used when we review new caches to insure that the new cache does not break the 0.10 mile guideline. Deceangi Just to clarify - what happens if an Additional Waypoint ( ie a stage of a multi ) is within .01 of a mile of another Additional Waypoint ( ie a stage of a multi ) - but the 2 actual cache locations are outside the .01 of a mile ? What I'm trying to ask is - do stages of a multi count towards the .01 of a mile guideline ? Thanks Deceangi civilised
  10. At the risk of aggravating my withdrawal symptoms from this thread I'll offer Neville Shute He's great - but not the one Sorry
  11. Arthur C. Clarke ??? Has he gone out of fashion yet ? Nope Well I think the 'little boy' connection didn't exactly raise his popularity. Martin I forgot about that - but 2001 - A Space Oddysey still lives on

  14. I log onto www.geocacheuk.com click on 'uk stats' click on 'my stats' click on 'new search' then select county from one of the options and run..... that gives you a list for that particular county ! Its fairly accurate..... but I did also do a search for neighbouring counties and look at ones on the borders (just in case) Good luck with Wiltshire...... if like mine its a never ending task..... new ones keep appearing. I actually got down to 30 to go in June 2005, and 7 months later I had 31 left ! after doing about 50 in the meantime ! HH Thanks for that - shows 152 in Wiltshire yet to find - I sympathise with your problem regarding people placing new ones - what a cheek Just when you think you've cleared 10 miles from home, another one pops up civilised
  15. Not normally a contributor to congratulation threads - but well done to Harrogate Hunters My other reason for replying is to ask, how do you know when you've done a whole county ? I have a ( long-term ) ambition to do all the caches in Wiltshire. Is it a matter of comparing caches to the borders on a map ? And HH, talking of your inspiration Leoness, have you heard from her lately ? She lives quite near me and her caching seems to have taken a downturn since she talked about her new job She's put out some very interesting caches round here in the south - and I know we'd all love to see more. Congrats again. civilised
