  1. I did not have the opportunity to serve in the armed services due to a serious and disqualifying illness, although I tried and exhausted every opportunity. So, I would like to say:

God bless all of you veterans; active, reserve and guard. God protect you and yours and keep you and yours.

In behalf of one grateful citizen, thank you for your service.

  2. I'm a neeeeewbie, and I have only one cache of my own. However, the day after I placed my cache at a popular mountain bike trail, I was riding there and I passed two hikers on different parts of the trail. To see hikers and dog walkers is common, but the daypacks seemed out of place... When I got back to my car, there were two other cars in the parking lot, and they each had some form of geocaching symbol. The next day, I checked my cache's log, and there were two entries..... (!)

  3. This is my list which complements my Caching essentials list...

    1 Knife

2 Flashlight plus spare batteries and bulb

    3 Broad area map, waterproofed

    4 Compass (backup)

    5 Whistle

    6 Heliostat (signal mirror)

    7 First aid kit

8 Personal meds and spare glasses

9 Insect repellant (DEET and permethrin)

    10 Sun Block

11 Fire making kit with tender, candle and three means of making fire

12 Rain gear (usually anorak or poncho)

13 Extra clothes, esp. hat, gloves, socks

  4. Am I the only one concerned about a cache requiring someone opening an electrical junction box? If it's a cache, that's one thing, but if it's a real live junction box with 220v, well, that's significantly more dangerous than the now banned swiss army knives!
