  3. TJ, maybe if you didn't install so much crap on your computer you wouldn't need all those security apps. Might want to think about downsizing - or get a second computer to try out all the kewl hakz from download.com. 4. Boy, and I thought it was just me. I've been able to login by switching browsers back and forth Netscape and IE. When one gets the error, I quit it, launch the other and am able to login. Kind of weird. "The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either." - Benjamin Franklin

    Site down?

I'm going to go with 8 threads. 10 seems just a little too high. "The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either." - Benjamin Franklin

It was sooo much fun! I think we should do a picnic every month! Let's just send this one into Six Feet Under and let them bury it! Love that show. Great writing! 8. Hey DW. If she made you feel a little closer to your dog, then that's cool. I love my dogs too. They are every bit as much a part of my family as my wife and kids. I think it's a bunch of hooey, but what do I know, right? As Hoovman said, there isn't really a downside to it so if it makes you feel better, great. At least she's not Animal Planet claiming she can talk to iguanas and mice! "The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either." - Benjamin Franklin

  10. quote: Well, in terms of "defying" the laws of physics, let's be sqaure on this: "who's" laws of physics? Ours or Theirs? With out getting into a debate over it… There is still, as far as we know, only one set of laws of physics. Despite the advances being made in Quantum Physics, nothing we have discovered has over turned any of the basic laws such as "conservation of energy" and the "general theory of relativity." Some minor changes have been made, especially to Einstein's theory of relativity in unique situations such as the behavior of elementary particles in a plasma state, but overall the laws still stand. You can't go faster than light and in order to bend the universe to warp somewhere you have to generate the equivalent energy of the output of an entire galaxy all at once. This is not say in anyway that someone, somewhere, hasn't figured out how to do it. I do, in fact, believe that there is intellegent life elsewhere in the universe (insert joke here ). My question was simply (and in jest obviously), if they're so friggin smart, why do they build ufo's that can be seen by everyone down here, but never land or make contact? They don't sound so smart afterall. I forget who is was, but some comedian said he thinks that ufo's are alien teenagers out for a joyride!
  11. I also had nothing but good experiences with the interview I did for OC Metro last year. The report that came out was very favorable and showed geocaching in a very good light, including dispelling the myth that they are buried. The reporter seemed to enjoy it. But I should have taken skydiver's advice... It took me nearly 35 minutes to find the cache! I was starting to panic that I wouldn't find the dadgum thing!
  12. Just heard it on the way in too! I laughed out loud when he said he left a golf ball! All in all, it was a very balanced report. I wish they had Jeremy saying that buried caches were verboten, but I think it still showed caching in a positive and fair light.
  13. Thanks for the reply Geosaur. Glad to hear that it's working for you. It seems like geocaching has been growing exponentially (not really, but very fast!) and it's putting quite a load on the servers. Some days are better than others. Fridays seem to be the worst of course. Hopefully Jeremy will find a solution that works for this site and allows him a little headroom.
  14. quote: Glad you shared YOUR experience with Microsoft software. Also glad you used the word "probably". Not trying to start anything here, but I'd be interested in hearing your experience with them. Of all my fellow IT guys I know, no one is thrilled with Microsoft and .NET stuff. We all rely on linux for web apps.
  15. quote:Two questions how do I get my hot cold off archive or get rid of it.2. Why is my virtual cache no good. This item just been in a park that I think people should see. One of the fewest in town What? I'm not even sure what the first question was.
  16. quote: Might happen in the socialist state of California. Now, is that a nice thing to say? Can't we all just get along?
  17. Boy! I sure am glad nothing like that would happen here in the US!
  18. Went to look for this post today, but couldn't find it. Maybe it's gone. I'll keep an eye on it and see if someone else finds it. Hopefully it's still here!
  19. One thing I've never been able to figure out... If aliens are so technologically advanced that they can travel across the galaxy, defying every law of physics that we know of, how come they can't build a craft that doesn't have exterior illumination on it?
  20. quote: Bottom line is watch for trends of slowness or unresponsiveness. You can probably point the finger squarely at the Microsoft software there. I've found their stuff to be about the worst out there for performance and uptime for internet serving. And unresponsiveness... that's a given.

  22. Before this thread gets too far off topic. I say, sure it should be approved. It seems like it fulfills all the requirements. No offense, but it does sound like a touristy type place (I've never been there, so I don't know for sure). But I think it follows the letter of the rules if not the entire spirit of the rules. So, I vote yea. And if I ever go to DC and happen to be going to the museum I'll probably go ahead and do it.
  23. Apparently, they don't want to discuss geocaching on thier boards over there. They have deleted all the posts related to geocaching and have asked that we refrain from making any more posts there. Let's play nice and let it die. We'll be going through official channels to try to come to a good resolution. Unfortunately one cache has already bit the dust up there - San Gorgonio 1/2 way [This message was edited by FullOn on April 22, 2003 at 04:09 PM.]
  24. quote: Geocaching is *not* abandonment of personal property. The property in question (the geocache) is maintained, which is far from being abandoned. I totaly agree. I was just wondering if anyone had actually made this argument to any ranger/wilderness manager types and got anywhere with it. I know I'm not going to change this group's mind (they recommend packing out your used toilet paper) but I know that some cachers have made successful contacts with "offical" land managers.
