Is anyone still using a geomate Jr?

I hadn't used mine for quite a while, but really liked it for the kids and I purchased a second one a few days ago to give as a gift.

 

I quickly learned about the near death of the whole thing, and how it was saved by Brand44. But now I feel like the update process for it is even more complicated than it used to be.

I'm a mac user. The gift unit is for a PC family. I've figured out how to update with the regional list which I think is a weekly update now. And I can load a single .gpx file to it as well, using the GeomateLoader program available from the current product website.

 

What I can't figure out yet, and would like to so that I can pass the knowledge on to the new users, is how to make a custom list of multiple caches and get it loaded onto the unit.

I've never played with PQs before, is that the solution?

Seems Brand 44 has created this to do just what you are looking for. I have not tried but hope it works for you.

Is the Geomate jr able to add Pocket Queries yet?

 

Their website has basically been the same since launch and is not real informative.

 

Yea, I hear you load and clear. Small team = web site lags. But yes, pocket queries is something we want to support. Working on it!!

 

I've been kinda waiting for the pocket queries feature. If I purchase a JR now would I loose out on that...have to buy a new unit when pocket queries are ready? Should I wait for the "Next" version? or will older units be able to incorporate new features via OS Flash of some sort?
