  1. Another posted on one of our caches:- Donaldson8952 Joined today and a hundred finds around the world
  2. When he "discovered" ours, I did get in touch with him. He said that he was looking for a trackable and made a mistake with the number. That's what alerted me to look into it deeper. Conclusion - he must have made an awful lot of mistakes - potentially over 1200!
  3. I see his trackable count has gone up to over 1200 now - that's at least another 400 since I reported it. I don't know what the outcome of my contact with Groundspeak will be, but if all his logs are deleted, that's a whole day he has wasted
  4. Here is the account in question Trackables moved/Discovered So far, every trackable I have clicked on has been logged by him today!!!!!! I have noticed that his count has gone down, so others must have deleted some of his logs too.
  5. Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere. This morning we received notification that a long lost geocoin of ours had been "discovered". My first reaction was one of joy that it was not lost after all. However, doubts were beginning to enter my mind and I decided to emailed the "finder", asking where he had discovered it. I received this reply :- "Hello! I got this Trackingcode from the GC Website. At this morning I want to track an TB and i had a misstake and wrote a wrong alphabetic character. Hope you understand. I´m from germany and my english is not the best (at this morning)." On further investigation, I find that he has been logging numerous trackables in the same way and is still doing it now, as his trackable count is increasing each time I look! It now exceeds 800 (although I'm sure he could not have logged them all today I have deleted his log for our coin, but I wondered if there was anywhere I should report the matter? In the "great scheme of things", does it matter? Am I stressing over trivialities? Izzy

  7. That's ok, Mark. I know we think on a similar wave length as you I'm glad that there are some who "get" what my concerns are and can express them more eloquently ( eg Andy and HH )
  8. Langy, I asked for people's thoughts and I accept differing opinions, although I don't have to agree. If the 1 in 10 "rule" became commonplace (perish the thought ~ I think we would return to just walking if it did!) there would surely have to be a "cut off point" What number would that be then? I would like to add that placing more caches is by no means the only way of putting something back into the community
  9. I don't think so actually. They hardly found any in their early years and it is only this year that they have become active really. This year they have found over four times as many as we have this year
  10. Ooh, nice grammar-judo. Well played. I noticed that too and had to smile
  11. The series is not the concern here, it is the concept of placing one cache for every ten found ~ I just doubt the wisdom of the idea and was asking how others felt. We don't bother doing a cache if we don't like the look of it, and don't see the point in clearing our local area of caches if they don't appeal to us. Perhaps that's why we have only got 2300 finds in just over 7 years when some of our friends have double that in a couple of years!
  12. We did half think of taking a look, as they were on our way home from our one and only find of the day (on The Long Mynd ~ a quality cache in a top quality area.) But we would have just looked for 1.6 of the series edited to remove a duplicated word. Obviously a case of "word saturation"
  13. I agree that could work, SP, but I get a feeling that's just not going to happen. I also fear that others will think it's a great idea and follow suit
  14. Ok, it's a Mr and Mrs and A.N. Other. Believe me, there is definitely NOT a shortage of caches in the area
  15. A caching team fairly close to us has decided to place one cache for every ten they have found. Whilst I'm sure they feel they are doing a service and "paying back to the geocaching community", the idea fills me with horror! These days it doesn't take long to clock up 100 finds - it can be easily done over a weekend. Many of our friends have 3000, 4000, 5000 finds. That would mean 100s of placements each - far too many to maintain properly in my opinion! If just a few decided to take on the idea, I feel that cache saturation would become ridiculous! It also opens up the liklihood that caches will be hastily placed without a great deal of research and thought, just to keep up the ratio. What are your thoughts?
  16. Well, I don't care anymore,- I've got my DVD tucked away in an ammo can as an FTF prize for our new cache to be published later today Got an 11:30 time slot booked for publication - that should do it!
  17. I've been wondering if there would be any April Fool trickery. Could this be it?
  18. Where have all the reviewers gone?... When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?
  19. We are heading that way TODAY! We booked in to a Premier Inn a few weeks ago so we could explore a new area. Not over enamoured with the weather but we've got to make full use of our precious two days Sorry, no time for coffee
  20. Not familiar with that one and a search for it was not forthcoming. Do you have the GC code?
  21. At Bridgnorth there is High Rock (Shropshire) which will provide you with great views overlooking Bridgnorth. About 15 - 20 minutes away from Bridgnorth is The Wenlock Olympian Trail (Re-run) It is a nine part multi but well worth it, taking you around the very attractive town of Much Wenlock. It was here that the modern Olympic Games found their inspirations (and the reason why the "Wenlock" character was "invented" as a mascot for th 2012 Olympics) If you are after great views and landscape, we would have to recommend the Long Mynd area - superb walking country You might like to pick up LQ: Shropshire - Lightspout Waterfall, the "Little Quest" for Shropshire - set up by markandlynn but adopted by us as it was just too good to lose
