  1. I reported this problem to Garmin thinking it was an issue with their plugin. They tested and were able to duplicate this problem using IE11 and suggested that geocaching.com needs an update to their page. See Garmin's response below:

    I am able to duplicate the issue you describe in IE11. However, I am not able to duplicate it in Chrome or Firefox.

    In Chrome, I receive this error message initially, but (by design) Chrome blocks the plugin from running on the page. Once I follow the instructions included in our correspondence below in the device detection window that appears (Choose Always run on this site, then refresh the page), it works.

    Since the plugin works correctly in IE11 on all Garmin-hosted sites, I suspect geocaching.com simply needs to update their implementation of our plugin on their page for it to work correctly.

    I would recommend contacting geocaching.com to inform them of this issue so that they may correct it, and for the time being use one of the other two browsers that are known to work.

    While I have an alternative browser that I can set up (Chrome, I prefer to use Internet Explorer and would really like to have a fix for this issue.

     

    Here are the instructions from Garmin for setting up the Chrome browser:

     

    Chrome blocks plugins by default, and will prompt to allow them on pages that use plugins. On these prompts, choose Always run on this site. Refreshing the page should then allow the plugin to load. To allow the plugin to load without prompting on each page:

    1. Open Chrome

    2. In the address bar, type about:plugins

    3. Press Enter (PC) or Return (Mac)

    4. Locate Garmin Communicator Plugin

    5. Select the Always Allowed box

    6. Restart chrome

  2. That is right for IE8 as well, gsbohr and others reading this. Seems that the programmers made a reasonable fix to me. My cache only has two things in the gallery, but many are full and you wouldn't go there for the map anyway. You would look in the cache description area at that link. Thanks for the input.

  3. I have noticed the same issue, if you try to enlarge a photo from the cache owner all it does is take you back to the cache description page. Is this going to be fixed? Is this where we are supposed to report problems?

     

    I was able to view the photo by right-clicking on the photo and opening it in a new tab, using Google Chrome.

     

    Hurrah, hurrah; the system works. This is the right way to report problems and it is fixed. Thanks for responding, xamiam. I thought maybe either there was a work around that I didn't know about, but if others noticed then it's a good thing to get in the forum.

     

    To Raine and the other programers. Thanks from the vain photographers and from the geocachers looking for the trail map so they don't have to bushwack.

  4. As a cache owner, I have posted photos and more importantly a trail map to the gallery. For items added to the gallery by cache finders, you are able to go to the picture and click to enlarge. But, if the Cache Owner posted the picture and you click on it, it just returns you to the cache information.

     

    I use Windows XP and Vista and IE but problem seems to be on all. It seems to be because their is no log related to the picture, but older versions of geocaching.com did not have this problem (some years ago). Any suggestions - especially on including the trail map? Any thoughts about changing this oddity in future updates?
