Hello all, Got this Tom tom XL 340T and when I went to upload new maps it went dead. Something corrupted the files and when I went to get the backups they where also gone. Does someone out there have a backup files for this TOMTOM XL 340T that I can get from you? Or does anyone know where to get them on line? AL

Do I need to buy a DVD for each GPS I use?

Hello all, I know there is a topic somewhere in here somewhere, but i just can't find it. I am looking at building my our maps, or even use what is already done. I get to travel all over the states, so I need to locate some good links to downlaod maps, and then work so they will work in my GPS. So what are some good links where I can download maps in .mif or .shp format? AL

What did it cost for the software that is needed to do this free maps? At least one site is asking for funds, the itt site. Am I off line here? AL

Yes that is right, but I was talking about POI way of getting the caches loaded up into the GPS

I too have used GSAK, but what I get is not the hints, but a distance alarm. What have I done wrong?

I went out with my 60CX today to find a benchmaker and did not find it. I even had it on NAD83. When I got home and looked it up, I now know I was better then 70ft off of it. So don't know. For the last week or two, geocaches I looked for, I have been about 60 feet off. With WAAS on. When I first got the unit, I almost could walk with 10 or less feet to them. I have reloaded 2.71 beta, and going to check it out later to see if I get thing in order. Oh, benchmakers are using NAD83 datum. Try that. AL

WOW what a trip !! I ordered CN V7 from 123-GPS.com, and still do not have it!! I tried to call, but there phone mailbox is full, and all you get is kicked off. When I tried to get an answer from them via email, there is no reply!! I even faxed them, nothing!!! Since they already charged my card and no merchandise was sent I was able to go through my credit card company to retrieve my money back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY -- 123-GPS.com. Thats what happened to me..

AFAIK, the GPS 40 did not support uploadable firmware. Even the opertional system software?

I have a GPS 40, and its old. SO old that Garmin doesn't carry it software. Is there someone with a copy on there pc? Can you help? al

Why does the Garmin web site tells me that the City Navigator North America v7, works on a GPSmap 60cx, but MetroGuide North America v7 does not? If my Vista can hold and use maps, and my 60cx can hold and use maps, why can't I use MetroGuide North America v7 on both. Now the city Nav is like 50 dallors more then MetroGuide. Is it a money thing, or is there really functions in one that works with only my 60CX? AL
