I hope that someone might contact the reporter and ask the reporter to forward along an explanation of geocaching to this family. Sounds like they were born to cache! It'd be most cool if they joined our fun once the mystery was explained to them.
We should get together and send them a GPSr.

I haven't been caching for long either, but I have used both the eTrex Legend and Rino 110 at the same time. I really can't say about the higher end units that you are looking for, but between the two of them, heres some finner points that I noticed. It might help you know what features you should check on.
+ I love the screen on the Legend. Although I think it is physically the area as the Rino it has ~50% higher resolution. I would go for the higher res screen.
- Patch antenna Good Reception in the Car. Not so good reception in the woods.
+ Helix Antenna Good Reception in the Woods. Not so good in the Car.
+ 2 batteries. I like to use rechargables, and the Rino uses an odd three batteries. (they don't make a 3 battery charger, and mixing batteries at different charge levels, is not recommended)
+ If I am using the Routing function while driving I like the speaker on the Rino to tell me that a turn is coming up. Although just a simple beep (compaired to some speech models), I find I don't have to keep looking away from the road as much.
- I though 8 MB was a lot when I had the Garmin Canada mapSource 3.02, and I could put all of BC in there. I recently bought Canada version 4.0. These maps are HUGE, and can only hold ~100 mile radius of a major metropolitan area.
I kept the Rino because I thought the Radio is neat, and I Since I know other people with the rino, we can sent our location to each other. Otherwise I would have kept the Legend. It's a great little unit. I will soon upgrade to the rino 120 or 130.

When I was younger I played a lot of RPG's, and my screen names reflected that. I'm not into RPG's anymore and those old screen names didn't seem appropreate so a few years back I started looking for a new screen name. I used one from a book I had just read at the time. "Fiver" from 'Watership Down', which I use of a lot of other sites.
That name was taken on this site, so I went with my Japanese name 'Kenji'. I might change it if I think of something better.

2. So what's an inch - part II. Since magnetic North Pole moves more than an inch regularly and in greater leaps than the worse earthquakes, why make big deal out of an inch?
That is so some scientist show off, by saying
"I punched in some numbers in my expencive computer (aka big calculator) and my best guess is that the earths axis may or may not have moved by aproximetly one inch. But since you can never measure it and it will have absolutely no impact on your life, you will never know for sure. Now art you glad you pay me $100,000 a year so I can tell you that."

I'm not any kind of scientist, but since the GPS satellites are in orbit around the earth, wouldn't they move with it?
They wouldn't move with it since they are not physically connected.
They are held in place by the force of Earth's gravity, so it's reasonable to assume that if the earth moves, the satellites move with it....
You are right they orbit because of the gravity. The catch is you have to move the gravity. If you rotate the planet an inch, did you move the pull of gravity?
Now if you moved the earth an inch over to the left... But that doesn't have to move the location of the north pole.
The tweak in the earths wobble does move the mass/gravity well/whaever you want to call it so the chanbe wobble if pronounced enough might cause a slight tweak to the satalites orbit.
If the Pole moved an inch to the left, just hold your GPS an inch more to the left than you normally do.
On the more serious side...
Now I'm not rocket scientist, but the Eath is always moving. The Earth moves around the sun; the sun moves around our galaxy: the Galaxy is moving through the Universe. We are all travelling at thousands of miles a second. (Therefor you all deserve speeding tickets)
The force of gravity on the satalites is constanly changing. For instance we pass by Jupiter or the moon and the tides change. These satalites maintain their orbits/speed/direction/altitude by self-correcting their path constantly.

I noticed today that Garmin has a page explaning GeoCaching on their site. I am pretty sure that they didn't have that there before. You can also submit your own GeoCaching storys to the site.

Your information is a little out-of-date. GMRS is approved for non-licensed use here in Canada.
Well that's good to hear. So I don't even need a Licence to use it?
My information comes from the Garmin Website, their Manual, and a site linked to from the FCC Goverment Web Site.
Still I don't know if the Canadian versions of the Rino have GRMS. Their web site says that even the 130 doesn't have GRMS.

MURS is unique to the USA. Your northern cousins here in Canada don't have this service available.
GMRS is also not Legal in Canada. Although my Garmin Rino, which I bought from the USA has it, the Canadian version does not.
What do most Canadians use if they want something more powerful than FRS?

I think GC.com supports the TB's and Jeep Bugs, because of monitary reasons above anything else. Someones got to pay for the services GC.com render.

I have a Garmin Legend Mapping GPS for sale for $225 CND (plus shipping). Practically New with the box and absolutly everything. I got two GPS's for Christmas; the Legend and a Rino 120. I did open both to see which one I liked best. The are both great GPSr and it was a toss up, but in the end I went with the Rino so I can use the Radio feature with my Dads Rino.
This is a great pocket sized GPS, with 8 Mb of Memory. I have used it about 10 times. You can read about the specs from the Garmin web site. I would have liked to keep this one as it has a higher resolution screen, and more features than the Rino. Plus better reception in the Car.
I will preload this one (up to it's 8MB capacity) with the ENHANCED CANADIAN Base map of the area you choose, plus the Detaled Street Map of any city that is on the Canadian MapSource Version 3.05 CD. Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec and Montreal. Sorry it won't all fit at once, I tried.
Save the Tax. Get the Maps (approx $150 value). Have Fun. If you live in BC's Lower Mainland we can arrange local pickup and I won't charge shipping.

The Seller emailed me after the auction to say he had another one, and I could buy it at my highest bid price. So now I have one coming to me in the mail for $57.50 USD. Total price $75 Canadian (including shipping).
Maybe if you email the seller, he might have more.

Ummm... I've found a Cache too, and I just don't know what to make of it. In fact I have found about a dozen caches, and it's kind of neat... Please send me a 76cs.
