  1. I signed up to SETI@Home last night. I have competed 5 unit so far, but don't have any credits yet?!? How does the Credit thing work? I also joined Geocaches of the world unite. I joined the Canada team first, but I think I prefer the smaller group instead.
  2. What I find upsetting is that you attempted to parade this Cache around like some kind of peacock, in the forums. All that was required was a private message to the Cache Owner, about the Parks Canada moratorium. Not everyone is aware of it at this time. If the Cacher was unresponsive you could then send a message to Cache-Tech or other approver, or maybe a ‘Request to be Archived’ on the cache page. You post sounded accusing (intentional or not) to both the Cacher and to the GC.com approvers. I have not seen the cache but most likely just someone’s honest mistake. Probably a cache this person has been planning for sometime. Then you come along with your post… Yes there is a moratorium on right now and the cache should not be there, but the way it was delt with was not kool at all DBC.
  3. If you want to spread the word to Canadain GeoCachers, and everyone who enjoys geocaching in Canada, make up a .PDF file of small business cards explaing the issue. Everyone can print out a lot of them out an place a bunch them in every cache they go to. Have it so the finder can take the card home (so they don't forget). -The card should inform the finder about the situation and the solution you are looking for with the petition. -Have the link to the petition. -Have a link to the .PDF file so they can print more cards if they want to distribute them. -Tell the Finder to place the card in another cache (or otherwise pass it on) when they are finished with it. I think you should have the petition statment finalized before making the cards... just an idea.
  4. I am certain I had posted in this thread before. I can't find my log entry. Was it deleted? Anyways, the people I have talked to, and incuding myself, are waiting to the final draft of the Petition before signing. I am not about to sign my name to a document before it is written. That would be foolish. I mean you could change the petition to say 'We will burn down the forests if you don't meet our demands!' and you have a list of 80+ people who signed that they back you up. Not that I think you will write that, but you see my point. How can I say that I back you up, when I don't know what you intend to say.
  5. Hmmm. Looks like the OLD BCGA forums are not only closed but gone forever. I was going to link to the old (closed) thread. Is the association open to input for the coin design? I had submited a couple of ideas. Since it seemed like for a while that BCGA wasn't interested in a coin I had been tossing the idea of making my own BC GeoCoin myself, and selling it...
  6. I found it. Had to register to read it... Looking for Treasure - The High-tech Way (edit)I now see that it is an older article. Dec 29, 2004(/edit)
  7. My mom told me that there was a small GeoCaching story on King 5 News today. Anyone catch that? She also said that it is suppose to be on their web site too, but looks like you have to register to look at the news articles on there site. Just wondering if anyone saw it, and if it is worth reading. King 5 News
  8. Just because a certain meeting issue has been brought up here, doesn't mean that that was all that was discussed at the meeting. I am sure lots of what is discussed in the BCGA executive meetings will not be posted in the forums or BCGA site. If you wanted to know all that goes on in those meetings you should have asked to be nominated as an executive. I attended the BCGA AGM, and there was more discussed there then just Voting on the new executives.
  9. I would be interested in 5-10 (maybe more), but ultimetly it depends on the design. (edit)Oh. I almost forgot. About tracking. Any GeoCoins that I put out, I pretty much am going to assume they end up in someones personal collection. If I plan to track one, I would drill a hole in it and attach a travel bug.(/edit)
  10. I know... Just go down to the US and pick up all the jeep TB's and drop them off in Canadian (or other country) caches. Then unless them yanks come up here for vacation they won't find any jeeps. (edit Spelling)
  11. Any caches in the Tri-Cities Area intersted in playing in this Moving Cache? Tri-Cities Sprint I have been waiting for it to moving again so I can grab it. Circle of Confusion
  12. I have the Rino 120 GPSr, which has FRS and GMRS, so yes I do take it caching. I usually turn it off because the sound seems to go off at the most inapproprate times when muggles are about. I keep it on one of the GMRS channels (22 right now), since it has almost twice the range as FRS. Also there is less activity on GMRS, since it was only reciently legalized in Canada. Is there a GMRS channel for geocaching? You live in BC mrking?
  13. All my caches have been aproved by Mtn_man. He was pleasant in all his e-mails, and in general it has been good. I did have a problem with one Cache that he archived before it was even approved. I e-mailed him three times over the course of a week to ask a question and he never responded. I had to redo the cache and submit it again before he contacted me.
  14. They seem to be talking about a Earth Cache type virtual. I don't think that is a bad compermise. Most Caches really don't hold that much worth trading for anyways.
  15. Well said Parker2. And I extend a thanks to OGA for there hard work in this situation. As stated the final Parks Canada decission will most likely be adopted in some way by the provicial parks to, so this is an important issue. This should be about sustaining the parks for future generations first, and GeoCaching second. I believe that both can co-exist at the same time. Circle of Confusion
  16. I did some test with the Silica gel. And as stated, it will only absorb the water vapor unless the gel is touching the water. Then it absorbs it like a sponge and keeps it locked in. I used a larger than normal gel packet and it soaked up about half a cup of water (overnight), then placed it on a peice of paper. The paper stayed dry. Normaly the gel is "rechargable", but after absording that much water and 'recharging' it, it didn't feel the same; although it might still have worked fine.
  17. Do you have WAAS on? I find that it has a negitive effect on my accuracy if there are high hills or trees around, which is pretty much everywhere where I live. I keep it off.
  18. I am not familar with this area. Is this Cache in Salt Water?
  19. What kind of livestock walks off with a 50Cal Ammo Can?
  20. Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak Center
  21. Kool. I have been out to deep cove a few times. Always wanted to rent a Clipper or Kayak from there. Didn't have anyone to go with though.
  22. You bought a CF-18...??? How much does one of those babys set you back? [Edit: Added some more kool Camo paint jobs]
  23. How come your last thread promoting your site was locked? It said that you had premission that time too...
  24. Selling through something like PayPal there is Seller protection and Buyer protection. So both parties have some security in the transaction. And it is faster than mailing the money. Anyways Money Orders can still be canceled just like a check can.
