  1. The time has come to think about the upcoming Joyeux Noël mission. My furry friends Wyatt Earp and Jake are ready so, please join in and have some fun together!

You only need to send one non-activated trackable coin (no micros) and a nice Christmas card. I'm sure a lot of you will be very happy with that simple mission :D

So, everyone who is interested, please e-mail me your caching name, your real name, your address and your e-mail addy. I will choose by random who sends a coin to who. The person you send the coin to is not the person you receive your coin from unless I make a mistake  You may have to send overseas but it's only a card so, it shouldn't be that expensive. It's Christmas time after all so, who cares ;)

Please send your message to: claudelatour@videotron.ca

After sending me your message, please post here in the forum.

You'll have until November 25th to join and, on November 26th I'll send you the name of the person you'll have to send the card to with his address.

Please post again here in the thread to keep us posted on the status of your mission.

If you want to add some trinkets, stickers, chocolate, it's up to you but it's not mandatory.

You can participate more than once if you want to.

    Joyeux Noël :santa:

  2. Probably has been brought up before, but I wonder if the is a way that Groundspeak could add an icon to the trackable page saying whether you have found it/discovered it or whatever, just like the smileys on the geocaching page. Would be a great help, I think.

  3. My wife and I went to the ET highway in March of 2012. I did all the driving due to the atmosphere and my COPD and she did all the jumping. We did 450 caches in about 11 hours give or take. I would like to say more like 10 hours plus potty stops and time-outs. She was hustling all day long and I was very proud of her.

So, if these 2 50 yr olds can do that many, then I don't see why two youngun's can't get 1000+ in 24 hours.

  4. I'm all for the souvenirs myself, gonna have 98 by Aug 31, but seems to me that maybe Groundspeak can do something like give you the option of which tabs you want displayed in the quick view on your profile page with a simple checklist in users profile. Sounds simple enough, but the programming part is probably a nightmare. I, myself would really like to be able to move TB's of mine away from my inventory when they go into the great "unknown" region, but that is a wishlist item.

  5. Been thinking recently about the challenge caches. I thought it would be nice to have a different Icon for challenge caches. I thought maybe a Green ? Question mark. I also thought that for this to happen, they would need to make a new catagory selection for challenges. Don't know if anybody would be interested, but it sure would make it easier to find them on the map.

  6. In my car club, we were in the backroads driving thru some twisties. The guy in the back suddenly disappeared. Well, we worried about him, no we didn't go back to see if he drove off the cliff, Well, when we saw him at the pit stop, we asked what happened. He explained a bit about geocaching to us. Seems that he stopped and went down an embankment to get a cache. We then proceeded to a cache not 100ft from where we were standing and found it. This got us started.

  7. My wife and I went to the ET highway and I did all the driving, where she did all the jumping out and signing. Our best day was 450 caches in about 10 hours. No cheating involved. No young folks running, just us.

    Day 1 150

    Day 2 425

    Day 3 225

    Day 4 450

    Day 5 250+extras

Will we do it again? Probably not, but when they added 500 more, we did take 2 days to grab those as well a few months later.

  8. Our best was 2211 miles or so. I just ran a google map from city to city. We live in West Covina, CA and on our Honeymoon, we went to Juneau Alaska. It sure was nice of them to let us find that FTF. Of course, the locals couldn't find it, but we did 400ft or so away from GZ. :D

  9. To help you go fast, get a stamp or even stickers. I prefer the stamp, though. :anitongue:

Get a partner or 2,3,4 to help you find them. Log them afterwards, keep a paper log till then.

have a route pre-planned. I actually number my caches. Yes, I go in and edit so they look like 1-GC1234 2-GC2345, so I know which one is next by just looking. I have found in the past if I go to the nearest one, I could be zig zagging back and forth, not going in a straight line. Some plan their route where they just need to make right hand turns, left hand turns take longer due to lights.

Start at pre-dawn and never stop for food, bathroom breaks, just go and go and go.... :D:D
