  1. I tried "SHIFT + ENTER" and it does not work. The first line is sent. Keep in mind, the screen jerks up a couple of inches as soon as a few letters of text is typed. That is precursor to failure.
  2. Starting on April 12th, I am no longer able to press the Enter key to feed a new line in the Message Center function. I send complex messages that require hitting the Enter key to start a new line of text. I noticed for the first time a check box "Press enter to send" that's next to the SEND button. Even unchecking the box still sends one line of text. The screen also jerks down a couple of inches when pressing the Enter key or the Send. A recent example: Andy, I should have given you more information rather than just give you the numbers. My data though is incomplete. Google FCC Region map. You will see the US divided up into regions numbered 0-8. For the life of me I can't find the map for Canada which is IC instead of FCC. The alpha codes are abbreviations for US states or parts of states, Canadian, or I just don't remember. WCF - 4 - I don't have a clue. Doesn't match US or Canada abbreviations. I thought it might be West Central Florida which works but that is a stretch. EWA - 7 - Eastern Washington SNJ - 2 - South New Jersey CO - 0 - Colorado WV - 8 - West Virginia STX - 5 South Texas EMA - 1 Eastern Massachusetts Now, I cannot send anything beyond ........ Andy, I have Firefox but it also happens in Chrome. I am in contact with a Lackey and it is not happening to him but it is with other Geocachers.

  4. I just reinstalled the App at 8:00pm Pacific time and all functions seem to be working normally including the map.
  5. The Geocaching App is still not working. Has Groundspeak resolved the problem as of 7:30pm Pacific time.
  6. I am still on a Windows 7 platform so Microsoft Edge is not an option. I will soon be upgrading to Windows 10 and then have access to Geocaching functionality only IE and Edge can perform easily. I use FIrefox about 90% of the time. It seems as though Geocaching problems surfaced for IE 11 around Jan. 14 when Microsoft support for Windows 7 ended. IE 11 is still resident on the Windows 10 task bar so there is no clear sign from Groundspeak that it is no longer keeping the old browser supported.
  7. This only applies to Internet Explorer and not Firefox and Chrome. I've had texts from cachers who use Internet Explorer as their primary web browser. I use it for various Geocaching functions like downloading cache pages to my GPS. I can confirm that the list function no longer works. The Geocaching website goes blank and stalls. Refreshing the screen doesn't fix the problem. All three browsers need to work properly in order to support individual Geocaching operations.
  8. Thanks for responding. I have a Galaxy 8+ running App version 8.4.1. The problem has been resolved. I believe the function started working on 9/1/19. Open in browser is one of three options grayed out at the bottom of the page after Waypoints. When clicking on it, the page slides to the left and the geocaching web page comes up.
  9. For the last week, the Open in browser pull down option within the app only brings up the area satellite map and no longer the cache page. This is frustrating because all the geocaching page links are tied to the Geocaching App. For example, you click on GMAIL containing a new cache link, the Geocaching App fires up no longer giving you the option to open a Geocaching cache page from a browser. The Open in browser option is very useful as you have the actual cache page and can perform all edits, logging, etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app but no change. The problem is likely an unintentional bug and Groundspeak is waiting for another version to be rolled out ...... I hope.
  10. Hello Ranger Fox, I've tried using Firefox over Chrome and have had the same results. A load failure may be happening without any visible error evidence. It's pretty maddening after going so long without failure.
  11. I've been running Wherigo caches for about a year. Within the last month, it's no longer downloading automatically to my Whereyougo application. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app without success. The process worked really well. I'd click on the link on the cache page and it would download to my android phone. Now, it takes me into the Wherigo application and asks me to login. After completing that simple task, I get the screen to download to a PocketPC. This is new. I click on the download box and the status line at the top hesitates for a second and then rapidly zooms across the screen. I'm not directed to the cache's Wherigo cartridge as previously done. I've gone into the Whereyougo's Global settings and chose the Wherigo folder. There is a list of files that relate to completed Whereigos. The file extensions are .gwc, owl, ows, .bak. I get no errors of any kind. I sure would appreciate whatever help is out there.
  12. ============================================== Hello Ranger Fox, I was able to accomplish the task of loading a Wherigo onto my phone. When bringing up the cache page in Chrome, I clicked on "Related Web Page" and was given two choices to open up the file .... 1) Whereyougo 2) Chrome. I decided to click on Whereyougo and the cartridge downloaded successfully after i validated my logonID and password. I went into another Wherigo and clicked on Related Web Page and this time whereyougo started up automatically which makes sense. I went hunting for the location where these (*.GWC) file are stored. Found them in /Android/data/menion.android.whereyougo/Files/. The nearest one is 50 miles from Olympia, Wa. The compass function is working so now it's up to me to get out and check out the instructions. I assume it's a manual process to purge these (*.GWC) files once I've completed them? I didn't see any cartridge management system. Thanks much,
  13. ============================================== I have a Samsung 8+ phone. Instructions on how to run Wherigo's are spread out on the forum from 2008 to 2015. There is NOTHING to help me with something that appears to run smoothly on an iphone or Oregon. Here is what I have done: 1) Loaded Whereyougo from the App Store. 2) Downloaded a File Manger from the App Store 3) Created a directory/folder structure on my phone as defined within Whereyougo after hitting the [Start] button /Storage/Emulated/0/Android/data/menion.android.whereyougo/Files/ 4) Downloaded a Wherigo cartridge from the cache page into a folder/directory on my Windows 7 PC. 5) Copied the (*.gwc) from my PC into the directory on my phone. 6) When I press the [Start] button within Whereyougo, the error response displayed is "No Wherigo cartridge (*.gwc) is available in the directory (see #3 above). {PART II} You can also set a path to custom directory in "Settings - Main - Wherigo folder". Make sure you granted the application permission to write to external storage and you have write permission in selected directory. Some newer devices don't allow writing to SD card. If you're not sure, set "Wherigo folder" automatically. 7) I have no idea what the heck {Part II} is all about. This should be a slam dunk ...... RIGHT? Who can provide a simple process that will work for a popular Android (Samsung) phone?
  14. The "list" function is two steps in reverse for me. Here are a couple of examples. 1) When new caches get published, I used to click on the link and go into the cache page and select the "bookmark" link to place them in geographical bookmarks. I have 80 and now have to wade through an unsorted list. I also use the comments box to make notes. The work around has me search through the list which is time consuming, then ....... I need to go into the cache page, refresh the screen, click on the bookmark just established, click on the bookmark, which is at the top, find the cache and "edit". Another nit .... the bookmark name is now grayed out rather than a drop down selection. I have to go back out to the cache page and change the name if I need to place the same cache in another bookmark. 2) When building the detail for a challenge cache, as an example, I must find the cache (using GSAK for instance), and use the new drop down list function. It's nice here when building such a bookmark, the most current list is at the top. I have to refresh the cache page screen and click on the bookmark link to be able to search. Then the normal modification to the "cache name" in order to insert a sequence number for sorting purposes and adding appropriate detail in the "comments" field such as when I found the cache and other related stuff. I was doing the old process for 12 years and it worked every time with flexibility. It's short and sweet. To me, the new list function on the cache page is the more cumbersome process and rigid. I noticed that a new bookmark format page is in the works. It's not in alphabetical sequence but by some other logic and not by most recent access. I have bookmarks that I have not touched in years and they sort ahead of others more recently used. I hope this feedback will help reduce the steps and add to the flexibility.
  15. ==================================================== I see the problem. When I enter the archived cache GC187 for example, I bypassed the double drop down box below and clicked on the green magnifying glass. The default is the 10 mile radius or first option. Seeing that ACTIVE cache appear, I back arrowed and repainted the screen which still has GC187 in the box. Now, when you click .... the double drop down box doesn't reappear or refresh. So the closest ACTIVE cache within 10 miles reappears. It felt like the function was broken. Maybe the options should be switched because why would you want to know the closest if the purpose is to view the archived cache. So ...... that's it folks. Back to Reading 101. Thanks much for participating.
  16. I just noticed when invoking the [Play] then {Find a Geocache} page, when entering an archived cache GC#, the cache page doesn't materialize. What does appear is the next closest ACTIVE cache. When I go into the [take me into the old search], it works fine. I've tried to cut-n-paste and enter the characters but to no avail. All ACTIVE caches entered into the field work perfectely. Is Groundspeak de-emphasizing or not including archived caches into the new search engine. I have tried not only my Windows 7 desktop but also my Samsung phone going directly into Geocaching.com so it has nothing to do with platforms. There may be some kind of option or switch on my Geocaching account that is insulating this ability. Geez .... I'm out of ideas.
  17. ========================================= Thank you Cerberus1 and Don J for being so timely. Problem fixed by clicking on the torn piece of paper icon next to the refresh button taking me out of compatibility mode. I'll bet my paycheck that I inadvertently clicked on it. I'll take the advice and go through the Bugs category.
  18. You're right, decrypt is also not functioning. Works fine in Chrome and Mozilla. Geocaching and IE are not in synch and maybe other browsers. What happened around 10:00pm PDT. I wonder if GC has a master list of geocachers that do not have current browsers do to some strange interaction. For whatever reason, if you get on that database list, there must be a way to manually be removed. That's the only explanation I can come up with right now.
  19. For some reason tonight, I'm getting that dadgum yellow banner at the top of the Geocaching Web site that says Geocaching no longer supports older browsers. That can't be as I'm using IE 10 on a Windows 7 platform. Everything is current. When I use Google Chrome, all the functions work fine. Geocaching must record something, maybe a cookie, that when a switch is set for whatever reason there is no way to reset. Tried deleting the usual history, temporary files, and cookies. Tried to reload IE 10 from Control Panel but it's not there. Tried to reload from Microsoft but MS likes the fact I'm on IE 10 so everything is perfect. Extremely frustrated as certain basic Geocaching features are not working such as the log list. I have to click on a link to list them out. The two small maps on a cache page are blank.
  20. Each Garmin Rino has 2009 City Navigator NT North America on DVD loaded. Used only once ..... $300.00 for the pair
  21. Thank you for the input. I believe it's the sudden realization that the 62s is much more a computer than the venerable 60CSx was ever intended. GSAK is the answer without a doubt.
  22. ================================ I took advantage of REI's $279 deal for a 62s. This is to eventually replace my 60CSx ---- a tall order (I've worn down the buttons to the chassis). I'm matching feature for feature and I've found something quite unusual. The 62s treats waypoints and geocaches differently. WHY? They are the same thing. When creating a waypoint on the 62s, one may update the coordinates. When downloading a .GPX file, the geocaches are hardcoded (coordinates are fixed). This is inherently wrong. I got off the phone to Garmin this afternoon convincing them that there are fundamental reasons to change the geocache coordinates. Depending on where you live, approximately 5%-10% of all geocaches are puzzles. Also, traditional and multicaches sometimes have updated coordinates from a finder that the CO has not yet found reason to update on the cache page. I update the coordinates of the cache, not necessarily creating a waypoint. Don't you see? When I navigate to "find nearest" on the 60CSx, it will bring me to the nearest ..... set of coordinates closest to my vehicle. It's NOT good enough to update "Next Stage" in the 62s with the new coordinates. If you have 5 puzzles and each one has a "Next Stage", which one do you navigate to? How do you mentally tie it into the Geocache (by name) while you're driving and deciphering the best route. You certainly don't want to navigate to the outdated geocache puzzle coordinates. These are worthless and should be out of the picture. I realize that GSAK allows you to update coordinates but what if I don't want to? I should be able to bring up a Geocache on the 62s and change the coordinates. Hopefully this will be resolved in a release not too far "down the road".
  23. ==================================== I decided to go the 62s route and by gosh ........ the price is indeed $ 279, below the advertised $299. I couldn't be happier. When arriving at the new store in Olympia, just before the doors opened, I estimated the line to be around 350' (I couldn't be exactly sure as I left my GPS at home). Returning a little later, I had a store clerk put one aside and four hours later, the checkout line had evaporated and the prize was mine. Thanks again to all who participated in this exercise.
