Caching in and around Southampton
The Bongtwashes replied to Alibags's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
I'm sure Pharisee will appreciate you making the distinction between quantity and quality -
Drat! I was looking forward to the colouring in bit... Then you say the adults chat. You can always leave the children to chat whilst the adults get on with the serious business...of colouring in.

A Borg of cachers. Even if we're on our own we're still part of 'The Collective' -
OMG don't set micros in Luton Mr Pharisee will have a dippy fit!!! Do you still have my addie Mr Bongt? Mandy Sorry, I can't find your addie Mandy, can you resend it to me please. Don't worry John, I've still a few left

Hi Mandy I've got some you can have, about 50 of them. I was going to set a series of micros around the Luton / Dunstable area as someone down here has been setting some larger ones called 'Back to Basics ...' I thought I'd better redress the balance.

As long as it's insured against those risks, it would be easier than getting a refund from Apple when you decide you don't like it. -

You must have large, reinforced pockets. Personally I think it's too large, heavy, awkward to buy go caching with. -
No more Curse of the FTFs?!
The Bongtwashes replied to Slightly Tall Paul's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
How about banning Power Trails again? Some of the ones across America are beyond getting ridiculous. When a group of 4 cachers can find 566 caches in 24 hours They can't all be 'Quality' caches, if indeed any of them are. At least with the Curse of the FTFs there's only one (possibly) poor quality cache hidden at once, not several hundred, and I'm sure there's more effort gone into that one cache than into each cache of some of those power trails. -
Groundspeak downtime...

It's back up now. Get those submissions in. I wonder what changes we'll see this time. -

Nominate it using the Suggest Trial link near the top. -
It may be that the code gets truncated to 6 characters, dropping the final charater, resulting in these 2 codes being overwritten. When you click on GPS>Send Waypoints... , check that the 'Maximum Characters' box is set to at least 7, or else in the box above enter '%drop2' so you don't send the GC part of the code. From memory these 2 boxes are initially set to 6 and %code.

It looks like you've got the map datum set to OSGB, which is what you need if you're using the British Grid for coordinates. When you change to degrees and minutes you need to change the datum to WGS84.

And what about the other damage when it got run over by a lorry?

UK Geocaching in a political light
The Bongtwashes replied to The Blorenges's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Last Saturday there were actually 2 of the 3 main candidates in the town centre in Hemel Hempstead. I very nearly went up to them to ask their views on geocaches in Royal Parks, but then thought better of it, I might have seen their lips move . Anyway, I agree. Who is Spurs? -

Make your own? Another couple of things I've just noticed, don't know how long they've been there... You can have a Lat/Long label showing by your cursor, and you can drop a stationary Lat/Long marker at any point. In both cases the display is +/- decimal degrees, but we all know how to convert to H DD MM.MMM don't we? -
I've just noticed that Streetview on Googlemaps can now be displayed in 3D mode. Luckily our kids have got the Spykids 3D DVD.

Geocaching Fact Sheets - Number 273
The Bongtwashes replied to Birdman-of-liskatraz's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
As your profile shows ZERO FINDS and ZERO HIDDEN I can only presume that you are hiding behind an aptly named account. If you want to comment on controversial subjects it would be nice if you could be open about it and post under your normal caching name. I believe he is , at least I think his normal caching name is higher up the thread
