  1. She'll just have to prove it now, one way or the other
  2. Oh I wished! Yes caching gets easier with more finds but it's never fool proof! Yes, there are plenty of very experienced fools out there.
  3. Have you tried gaiters? They'll still get muddy, but at least you're trousers will be clean, and they keep your legs warm in the winter, and you can still use the same boots all year round.
  4. Not only where you park your car! I'd suggest marking a waypoint at several (if not all) of the firetacks. That way, if you do lose the trail (following a pair of moving firetacks that occasionally blink) then you can always find it again.
  5. Hi, I live in Hemel but work in London. As The Other Stu said, there are monthly meets for the Beds, Bucks and Herts area. The next one is at Wendover Beds/Bucks/Herts Bordering on the Ridiculous . Have a look at the listing and see who's likely to be there. Most of the regulars are friendly . Don't be put off by the large numbers after some of the names, think of it as more experience to tap. Hope to see you there.
  6. For Virtuals requiring a photo, unless specified by the CO, the photo is normally required to be added to the onlie log. I generally log my visit online as a note (drop down menu "Type of Log") , including uploading the photo with the log, then email the owner. When the owner replies you can then go back to edit your log to change it to a "Found it" log, and it will still be in the correct order chronologically.
  7. Well done, and Good Luck for your next one 99
  8. really? so when the page tells me that "this cache hasn't been reviewed yet", that means that the reviewer still needs to go to the coordinates and check out the cache, right? Durrr! A reviewing tool to make sure the quoted coords (on the cache listing) of a cache conform to the guidelines. (Please note that this is only one of the possible reviewing tools)
  9. Wrong! A cache is a cache, a cache listing is a cache listing, an event cache is the actual event. You only get a smilie for visiting a cache, not a cache listing. AFAIC it's up to the discretion of the CO of a PM only cache as to whether the find stands or is deleted, that's what "Premium Member Only" cache means.
  10. BTW, you're not limited to one centre for notifications. I actually get them for 30 miles radius from Hemel Hempstead (which includes as much of London as I'm likely to reach) and also about 20 miles radius of Wolverhampton to see which my sister and brother-in-law might go after. Previously I had them based on Hemel (where I live) and Watford (where I used to work) to generate an approximate elipse. I don't know what limit there is on number of notifications but you do need to set one up for eache cache type (trads, multis, puzzle etc.)
  11. So you can turn it on when you need it. BTW, I still carry a proper compass, it has more graduations around the circumference, is more accurate, and doesn't use battery power.
  12. Ha ha. Sorry Stu, I'm still an amateur compared to some (just under 16% FTF/finds) I also have insta-notifications for 30 mile radius and in the past have been known to go that distance (when caches were spread more thinly) Nowadays I'll only go for more convenient ones especially as I don't want emails coming to my phone - I have enough of that with work.
  13. I have a PQ where the only item checked is 'That...Have Not Been Found'. You can then do a preview for all unfound caches in the UK, download them all to your GPS, and dash out to find them all.
  14. Just had an idea about how to use Chirps. With the occasional threads about ammo tins going missing perhaps owners could stick a Chirp in/to the cache, then if it got nicked the whole Geocaching community (at least those with Chirp enabled GPSs) could use it the same way as a Tracker fitted to a car. . mind you, it may be a case of the Chirp being more valuble than the rest of the cache and it's contents
  15. That so annoys me , it's just so rude. I just grab them back Similar sentiments here. I found one cache a couple of months ago and left a GC. At the next cache I met another group of cachers going the other way, told them I had just dropped a coin in their next cache, and moved on. By the time I got home they had already grabbed the coin, logging from their iphone I don't see the problem here, surely you put them into the cache to be grabbed by someone else ? Yes... but... It's generally considered "polite" to give the previous holder of the trackable at least a few days in which to complete their own logging and drop the item off into the cache. Many cachers like to make a note in their cache log of which trackables they've dropped off, they like to make it part of their caching experience for the day. Also, if it gets grabbed before they've had a chance to log the drop-off into it doesn't accrue the mileage for that step in the journey (unless the cacher who does the 'grabbing' remembers to give that item a 'visit' to that previous cache before they move it on into another one.) MrsB Yes, it's this second point. By grabbing the trackable it misses it's log of being in that cache before the other team got hold of it, they didn't take it out of my bag, they took it from the cache where I put it, and the log for the trackable has no record of i visiting there, which makes it untrackable, and easily lost.

  17. I tried, but my Vista wouldn't press the shutter release on my Olympus.
  18. I saw somewhere that you've until 10:10am PDT tomorrow to log your 10/10/10 finds, so they won't have a final figure until then.
  19. I find it easier if I save the image, then view it in a different program. Then you can expand it, which I find makes it easier to read.
  20. It was discussed There should have been one at Tenterden (at 09:50 perhaps )
  21. Nearest 0.35 miles Furthest from home 225 miles (in Cornwall, but published whilst staying in Truro) Furthest (published before leaving home) 139 miles.
  22. Some would argue that at times this is already the case. (μ in ICT etc.)
  23. Could this mean a virtual return to caches in the Royal Parks?
