  1. You need to retrieve the coin from the cache that you found it in. The coins webpage is here: Geocoin

On the top right of the page click the link that says Found it? Log it!

In the drop down window select retrieve from Ghost Cache. You will need to the tracking number on the coin (the copy coin) where it says travel bug tracking #. Write a note in the comments box, and then click submit at the bottom of the page.

This will transfer the coin, and its icon, to your profile inventory.

When you are ready to drop the coin into another cache, go to the cache page where you are dropping off the coin. Log your cache find as normal, but under the box where you write your log entry you will see a list of any travel bugs you hold in your inventory. Select the coin or TB you are dropping in the cache, and submit your log. The coin and its icon will be transferred to the inventory of the cache.

    ;)

  2. Flying in on Friday, but I won't be getting in until late. :D

But I will be bringing traders including my GW version Antique Copper Tadpole!

  3. At first: congratulations to you and your family :D

This cointest is a neat idea to the birth of your daughter..

    1) date of birth: 05/15/08

    2) time of birth: 9:15 pm

    3) official weight: 2900 g (I am sorry, I do not know the American weight system)

    4) geocaching motto for our new baby girl:

"Look at this, I am Lil Mis.

I´ll find every cache before my parents,

just due to all my caching talents."

    Greetings from Germany

    Tschakko

P.S. I hope the english is understandable ;)

    2900g is about 6 lbs 6 ounces

  4. I have been lucky enough to have 3 mystery coin that will never show up on ebay.

Why is this significant? (Just curious)

So they are coins that made their way to a cache without a way to tell who the owner is and non-trackable as well or can they be trackable too?

Most of the mystery coins are non-trackable, but I know of at least 1 that is Trackable (Creepy Crawly Cachers).

The mystery coins are minted at the Mystery Coin Givers Expense and are given to people in the coin community as anonymous gifts. Sometimes they are sent to specific people through the mail, other times they are left in caches for whoever happens to find the cache next. The mystery coin givers are the "owners" of the coins - at least until they are gifted away to others, and the mystery givers normally set up a geocaching account under the personalty of their coin (Geo Leprechaun, The Geocoin Fairy, etc..)

It is considered to be in poor taste to sell a mystery coin for profit since it was a coin that was given only as gifts to other people. The mystery coins usually come with a little card in the coin flip explaining what the coin is, and asking the recipient not to sell the coin.

I think it is funny that people have a problem with mystery geocoins being sold but when Highland Fairy sold hers, there was no problem at all and in fact most of the versions sold out. Yes, it was a little different in that some were placed in caches but it was still sold.

I don't consider the Highland Geofairy Coin to be a Mystery Coin. Yes, she gave away many of her coins, but as you said, many of them were also sold and many were traded also. It is only a "mystery coin" in that she uses a different account for the coin as for her regular geocaching account, so many people do not know who she is.

True Mystery coins are never traded or sold (by the mystery giver) and are given as gifts to the community.

  8. NerdsMailbox.jpg

Does all your v1 say tadpcle379 or is it just some enamel missing in the "o"?

It was just that coin that had a little bit of enamel missing. And the picture blows it up and makes it look worse than it really is. When you actually look at the coin, the little missing bit is really not too noticeable.

  9. In the past few weeks I have had a pretty busy mailbox! :P:lol:

  12. I had a lesson in ebay when I did my first personal coin. I paid for 300 coins out of my pocket, and I sold them for a reasonable amount of money in the forums with the intention of making back at least the amount of money or close to it, that I paid to have the coins minted. I really didn't plan to make any profit, but I did hope to make back the cost of minting without selling on ebay. Not many, but a few coins were listed up on ebay by people who purchased coins directly from me, and they sold for close to 3 times what I sold them for. I don't think the coins were even sold out before they hit ebay. I understand that when someone buys a coin from me, they are free to do whatever they want with it, including list it on ebay. What did get me a little bothered was the fact that I had spent MY money to mint these coins, and now someone else other than me was making profits from the coins by selling them on ebay. :drama:

  13. I have a fairly large collection of coins, and most are unactivated. I just like to look at them, and really have no intention of setting them to travel. The few activated coins I have were either given or purchased and transfered to my account. I have brought my coins to events to allow other people to see them, and have allowed discoveries on the activated coins.

I do like to discover coins and TBs in caches. I generally don't trade SWAG, but will always pick up a traveler if there is one. I do enjoy very much finding real coins in caches, but I don't fault the people who choose to keep their coins in a collection and send out a copy. In that case, I treat the copy like I would any other TB or coin. I pick it up, log it, and place it into another cache. Very often, a cache page will list that a TB or coin is there, but the cache actually contains no travelers. I think of it as a bonus when I do find a traveler, especially one that I did not expect to find, because I like to see where they have been and help them on their travels. :drama:
