  1. 1. Because almost everywhere I go to hide a cache or find a cache - no matter how remote - I can probably find a beer can or bottle. 2. Being drunk makes you oblivious to the pain of thorns ripping your body apart. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  2. *Phew!* Lars is right, it was prime stompin' territory. Glad I had a reputation to precede me. I really never thought of using MapPoint. I use a Visor and don't have a Palm-Based mapping program with GPS waypoint inclusion capabilities. I can easily take a screenshot of MapPoint and print it, though. GREAT ideas. Thanks guys. By the way, I noticed that MapPoint was like $224 whereas MS Street was around $25. Will they both allow importing of waypoints and thumb-tacking them onto a map? And, yes, the frugal side of me must ask...is there a free alternative? VF --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet! 3. This may be answered elsewhere, but I just want to know what happened to the checked caches on the Maps? They are extremely useful to me when I'm looking for a concentration of caches that I haven't found yet. VF --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  4. Who are the people who place caches like this one? I guess Military personell... But still! Even more , who goes lookin' for 'em? I would LOVE to find this one, but don't know how on Earth I would ever make/get/steal the opportunity to do so. Any world-remote-wide travellers out there who can tell me what would take them to the edge of a glacier in GREENLAND? By the way, I LOVE that people who do place caches like this in TRUE barren land post pictures. If any of y'all find caches like this that are WAY out there, please post pictures. 5. To me, I use them when I'm close in numbers to a rival to pump up my find count quickly. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  6. Dropped off Darth V in northern Tennessee where it has recently been picked up.... --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  7. I take my undies, socks, jeans, t-shirt, shoes, jacket (optional), flashlight (also optional, regardless of time of day), watch, GPS (Attached to Visor Deluxe), and, on occasion, a ball cap. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  8. I've met ClayJar, Web-Ling and clan, Brokenwing and T-Storm and clan, GeoVamp (One I really needed to meet in person), and most other local DFW cachers. I'd like to meet Fractal for his genius, and Oregone for a day of quips that would last a year down here in Texas. I'd also like to meet Eric O'Connor over some sushi and Sapporo Ichiban. I'll be in North Carolina next week. Would love to meet Hawkeye. Any of you NC'ers wanna get together after Christmas? Will also go caching in VA, and TN if the timing works out. Too many more to list. Like the flying postal workers of Canada (heck, I'd like to meet all the geopilots), Buck8Point (only if we're gonna meet on the same side of his huntin' rifle), Steak & Red (Just 'cause they seem friendly enough to give me steak and eggs if I stop by - am I being too presumptuous? ) --------------- Go! 9. You can just simply click the 'edit' link on your log and click on the 'not found' or 'note' radio button. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  10. But I disagree with the tactics. It seems like people pay the S/H without thinking twice about the total, final cost. People would seem to rather buy something that costs $69 + $6 S/H than $73 + $1 S/H. It's like that little 9 at the end of gas prices. Money that's often given little extra thought. We discussed that with regards to geocoins before here. It came down to where the vendor chooses to recoup costs for the labor and material related to shipping. I've always contended that it should be part of the cost of the product. I don't pay a cashier to bag my groceries and the cost of the bag at the grocery store. But when I go to a sack-n-save type place, I can generally be assured of a lower bottom line because all the prices are a couple pennies lowere here and there. The way I know S/H is really a sham, though, is when I see companies offer promotions like "FREE SHIPPING!" To me, that means they've been charging too much all along. --------------- Go! 11. Just be glad you didn't ask about a magazine, JamieZ. Incidently, I've always considered the yellow Lipton brand of tea to be the mass-produced generic. Funny thing about various cultures, eh? --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  12. Today's Webshots picture is really close to this cache, too. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!

  21. quote:Originally posted by Kusanagi:Here is what I was told. Regardless of my thoughts on that 'opinion', ski3pin still should have allowed the cache hider an opportunity - either directly, or through proper authoritative channels (named Jeremy). --------------- Go! 22. quote:6. Try to keep the thread topic on track. If it goes too far off track moderators will put up a warning, if ignored will lock thread. Emphasis added. Note: Did not see anything about moderators being encouraged to delete threads arbitrarily without warning or communication because they don't like it.
  23. I really don't have a problem with someone placing a cache away from their own locale. I think it's grand if someone wants to maintain a cache for another cacher. But I would like to emphasise that this should be arranged before hiding. These arrangements should include what to do if the 'manager' leaves the area. --------------- Go! 24. quote:Originally posted by lathama:well this is a geocaching topic so i think it comes to be expected that the topic of discussion will be caching and not "OFF TOPIC" discussions. I think this has been highly publisised and so just keep to the topic! For the most part, I would tend to agree with you. However, despite repeated requests for an "Off Topic" discussion board, it has been denied. Therefore, I posted in the most appropriate place possible. I did as much research as I could before asking the simple question I did. This is the only board that I am a member of with a good, solid, UK population - a generally quite pleasant and helpful group, much like MOST of the geocaching community. I am not up to scouring the Web for a "British Men's Magazine" forum just to ask a simple little question. manuelcasi: Thanks, pod'na! --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
  25. If a discussion continues the same theme as the original post, than I would consider that to be 'on topic'. Com'on, ya trigger happy moderators! Take a lead by examples set in the general forums. If you took an opportunity to read the post, the most appropriate place to make my inquiry was in this forum, not the General forum. Since there is no "Off-Topic" room per se', I think I did the right thing by posting it here. Come to think about it, the general theme of this room is "United Kingdom". Since the original topic had to do with something specifically British, it was therefore indeed ON topic. Perhaps it is best that the USERS decide what they choose to read and respond to. I believe that: quote:The forum guidelines say that the moderators will stop discussions that are going off topic.is intended to keep discussions that are started to remain on topic, and not to quash any started topic that may not have to do with geocaching. How many topics does Jeremy actually delete or lock with no explanation? Was it too difficult to inform me of your intentions? My email address on my profile is valid and functional. A little dignity and respect, please. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet!
