  1. On my Dashboard page, I keep getting this stupid "your cache may need help" nag. It got a few DNFs, but when I went to check, it was still there in great shape. The problem is, I posted an Owner Maintenance log...but this nag still keeps showing up. How can I get rid of this?
  2. Also keep in mind that the longer the distance between stages, the smaller the audience will be for your cache. If a long walk (or drive) is required, I definitely recommend warning people in the description or using the attributes.
  3. Well, it finally happened. For almost six years I've wondered about what folks might think about spotting me entering/exiting a wooded area while out caching on my own. Today, while searching for a cache along a walking trail, I was told by a lady out for a run that I "looked creepy coming out of those bushes". Fortunately, there was a small side trail that led up to a neighborhood, so I laughed and pointed to that trail, implying I'd come through from there...but it still stung, and put an abrupt end to my search. Guess I'm just a creepy-looking dude.
  4. Normally I would recommend going to the CO first, but in a situation like this it seems more appropriate to go straight to the 'powers that be'. First, I would contact HQ as noted above. Second, I would post a 'Needs Archived' log on the cache page, making sure to describe the situation and your desire to not have folks trespassing. The NA log ensures that a reviewer will see the note. Even if you don't really want it archived, you can state that you simply want people to stay off the private property and that it needs immediate attention.
  5. Yeah...I've discovered that we here in Georgia are pretty spoiled. I've never once had to wait more than a single day for a cache to publish once it's all in order and submitted. Usually it within 4 to 6 hours.
  6. I'm still trying to understand what the OP is even saying. Whaa....?
  7. I've had a PB jar hidden for over 4 years and it still has a perfectly preserved log sheet. Granted, it's only been found a handful of times because it's a puzzle...but it's held up very well over the years considering I'm in a pretty hot and humid climate.
  8. Not entirely the same, but I was out for an FTF once where the cache was hidden under a bridge. I found the key hide pretty quickly, but when I opened it, I saw a bunch of signatures. I realized I was probably holding an archived cache, so I looked a bit more and found the cache I'd come looking for (a nano, it turned out) just a few feet away from the archived cache container. So I guess there's always the possibility of finding an archived one where a newer one is hidden, neither one of them being a "throwdown".
  9. Weld them all together to make one giant crazy ammo-can mishmash with a dozen hard-to-open lids. You will simultaneously make peoples' day and drive them insane trying to maneuver it.
  10. You made this suggestion in another thread. I recommend not doing that since it encourages violation of the guidelines for hiding and maintaining cache listings.
  11. In that setting, only one of those containers isn't complete trash.
  12. That's MY biggest gripe: when a reviewer disables a cache and the CO does absolutely nothing, but still gets upset when the cache is archived. It literally takes a couple of mouse clicks to avoid that
  13. I don't usually go higher than 20. I'll take 15-20, stop, walk away about 100 feet or so, come back and do it again for another 15-20. Sometimes I repeat a third or fourth time if the numbers vary enough.
  14. This is the one I use for obtaining coordinates: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.destil.gpsaveraging
  15. Ah. I had to check a few caches, but found one that has that attribute. I see it now. Weird. I never would have interpreted that as 3 hours or 9 o'clock, though.
  16. You lost me there. What are you talking about?
  17. Interesting. Were any reasons given for archival?
  18. I'll be curious to find out how many of the 4000 virtual rewards actually became published virtual caches at the end of the one-year deadline. We've had three publish within a few miles of my home just in the last week or two, so I imagine there's a big rush to get the last stragglers published...but I'd actually be surprised if there was a full 100% participation.
  19. Some folks leave small gifts (gift cards, unactivated trackables, geocoins, path tags) or even cash. Some folks post a congratulatory message on the cache page in the description. I don't do any of that. No need.
  20. Still wishing they'd do in-app notifications instead of emails...but I guess I've honestly given up on having a truly useful and comprehensive "official" geocaching app.
  21. You sure you weren't doing a multi-cache or a mystery cache?
