I always figured that anything near schools ,government buildings & bridges were off limits, espically after 9/11. The authorities tend to think strangers grubbing around schools may not be all that great. They also think that hiders on bridges may not have anything good in mind. And it's not like an anarchist (or anyone else) would ever bomb a federal building..

while I see the advantage of car units (namely ease of getting to the general area), I prefer a hand held, due to ease of hiding n your vehicle, & getting to a more specific hide location.

Seems like I'm finding a lot of mini-nanos either in foliage (ie trees or large bushes) or LPCs. admittingly, I've been doing more urban caching than anything, but I have had actual Tupperware hides. I've seen listings for ammo boxes , but most are the needle types.

My Geocaching goals are:
1) Have fun.
2) Get better at finding caches.
3) Cache with other people as often as possible.
4) Be sure that all of my hides (not finds) are peculiar D/T combinations. (I.E. My only owned cache right now is a 2/4.5, and it's 25 feet up in a tree in a VERY high-muggle park. I refuse to set anything even remotely close to an LPC!)
I would also go with # 1,2 & 3. I would like to thank you for the lpc, just because they're becoming a bit of a cliche. At least for me.

Holy crap, I aways back my car into spots! Maybe that's my issue! I do it because after I get the cache I open the hatch of my wagon and lay there to log the cache from my phone.
D'oh! I even have a blanket and pillow...
Heck, it could be worse, you could be like me & drive a pickup truck!

I'm working on one @ a cemetery now. I love the name of it, even though it is driving me nuts! Example of a dead-on pun

I haven't, but I did have some trouble downloading a cache today, but that was on my end

SWAG (when searching, guessing, etc.) Scientific Wild a** Guess
That applies to so many things in life!

The problem is that BSA is kinda anal about knockoff patches.

Does anyone know how one gets the 2010 BSA Jamboree Souvenir?
I'm wondering if one needed to log a find at Race to 2010 Pitstop. Though I would have liked to, I had no way to get there, along with most everyone that participated in the jamboree.
Thanks!
I'm thinking you're right on that one. I wish I could've gone to the Jambo!

had one today, was able to sign, but posted that the CO might want to look @ drying it out.
-
to me, one backs up the other. You sign the cache log to prove that you were there & made the find, & do so online to show that you were there. Not that there's any dishonesty here, just a case of CYA

I, too am a veteran of 30+ years, & would suggest writing to national council & seeing if they can help you out. Try this page: http://www.scouting.org/
They do have international units, so they maybe able to help you out

As I was told when working one that was driving me nuts, Change your perspective. If you have the ability to climb on a bench (without falling through & killing yourself) or rock, do so. Or lay down & look under a post.

Seems to me like it was a heads up. If the kid's half as sharp as some of the kids I've dealt with, they'll see it as such.

I met a fellow cacher @ the Grand Junction Oktoberfest, mentioned his t shirt (I forgot what event it was for), told him I was a noob having trouble with a cache , & got a bit of help from him & his lovely wife. Hopefully, I can get him & some others interested in a group in the area. As for the 2 caches I'm in between, I don't see anyone working them.
-
Yeah, I knew that seekers couldn't change them. It wouldn't make a lot of sense to post NEW coordinates if the poster (or adopter) can change them.
-
Without having actually doing a hide, is it possible to change the coordinates in the initial listing?
-
Congrats! I just hit 10!

Not to throw a monkey wrench into the equation, but would experience level figure into it?

As a regular member, I'll put my 2 cents worth in & hope it makes some sense. I can see making a cache PMO , but it should have something different to it to make it worth it. That way, it would be a perk that would be worth the money for the membership. As it is, there's quite a few more basics in my area than not, so there's not much reason to fork over the money. That seems to be the key, do the "perks" of PM warrant the money for you? If so go for it. If not, then don't.
