a collapsible walking stick that will fit into my backpack when I'm not using it? How do those things stand up to mud and grit anyhow? Would it be safe to use those to test the depth of water or would that mess em up?

This product includes Pocket Streets. Price is about $35.00 after the rebate.
Anyone know if you can download an entire state to your pocket pc? Is it possible to carve it up into neat sections for downloading?

and then recalibrated teh compass. That seems to have done the trick. should I always calibrate the compass after I turn it on? It never seemed to have been an issue before.

after updating. Would that affect the waypoint heading?

Ever since the last update my Vista is acting funny. I used it (tried to anyways) for the first time since the update and it seemed to think the North Pole was actively moving around me. The cache I was looking for also seemed to be moving around me.
Do I need to reload the latest software?
Maybe do a master reset? Um, how do you do one of those anyway...I couldn't find it in the manual or on Garmin's site.
thanks

Palm based units can use Watcher and Plucker for Pocket PC there's GPXVIEW. There are others I'm sure I haven't covered.
For more info do a search of the forums. I think there should be a handheld forum myself.

I haven't built a webpage yet...I don't think the world needs yet another webpage with nothing of import on it. I just use it to host photos and stuff like that.

AFAIC, a log book is all the verification needed, for most physical caches. The cache in question certainly doesn't fall in any kind of "special needs" catagory.
I know of a cache in Tulsa that has been accidently found by a lot of non-cacher. It has one of the most fun log books I've read through. And some of the accidental finders even took the trouble to enter an on-line log. It would be too bad if those logs had been deleted, just because they didn't know they had to write down some 15 digit number and email it to someone. JMO.

I'm not sure if that kind of flat out adulation is what you were looking for. Let me add some substance.
1) I have the plain jane battery. If I'm just reading text or cache pages I can easily get 4-6 hours out of it. I have a graphics intense game that seems to drain the battery faster though. I have yet to run the battery down.
2) I got the 300 mhz unit - that seems fast enough for all of the programs I use. The only lag I experience is when I load GPXVIEW...but I have 500 cache pages in the file - it's over 2 megs.
3) I sprang for the 128 meg storage card. I probably could have gone with a cheaper card I don't think I'll ever fill it.
4) The screen is easily readable outside. In my opinion the backlight is always needed for reading so it had better be durable.
5) It also doubles as an ebook. I wasn't aware you could use it for this. I really like this feature...if you like older books there's hundreds of free downloads. If you get a free dictionary you can highlight any word any look it up on the spot.
If you do get one don't get the fancy leather case. It comes with one I like much better. I wonder if I can return it?

If you call Dell for repairs...they'll tell you to buy a new one. Apparently they're not in the repair business...from reading Dell posts it seems they don't provide many spare parts so other places can make repairs either.

Human eyes do not reflect light like that. Unless of course you are using some sort of night scope. Actually, looking at your pics a second time it does appear you are using some sort of light augmentation.

I use GPXVIEW for viewing the caches pages. Now I only have to get the GPX files - they work with my Axim and ExpertGPS. Having 500 of the nearest geocaches on hand will probably make me very busy this year.

...strapped to your hip all day? Isn't it uncomfortable in those tiny movie theater chairs? How do you accessorize? Revolver for casual wear, automatic for formal? Do you ever run into those embarasssing situations where you run into someone who's wearing the same gun as you?

If memory serves...the evil moonshine hick dude simply stepped out from behind a tree and pointed his gun at someone at pretty much point blank range. Even if Ned was wearing a pistol would he be quick enough a draw to make a difference? I suppose if they were ALL wearing pistols they might have been left alone...but they were out of state weren't they? Can you take pistols across state lines and carry them wherever?
Can you tell I live in Jersey?
