  3. But... what does this have to do with gerbils? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  4. Mine was down for a while a couple of days ago. Seems okay now... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  5. You've got my vote. I too periodically email the owners of "abandoned" caches in our area; it usually turns out they're gone from the game, and the cache is slowly falling apart. Let's do it. Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."

  7. I had 28 emails when I booted up this morning... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  8. Unbelievable story. And believe me we haven't heard all of it... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  9. Just thought those of you who don't hate it might want to know... Changes made from version 4.12 to 4.13: Integrated translation corrections made by Taiwan to the Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese resources. Fixed an issue where the Tide Prediction calendar control was not working correctly in some date ranges when Windows was set to a time zone that automatically adjusted for daylight-savings time. Corrected an issue where MapSource would allow tide predictions to occur outside the appropriate time range restrictions imposed by the current tide prediction code. This would lead to some invalid prediction values for the out-of-range times. Fixed an issue where MapSource would crash if the registry value that stored the user preference for distance units, which was set by MapSource 4.09 and older, contained an invalid value. Now, if an invalid string is encountered for this preference, MapSource will replace it with the default value. Fixed an issue where MapSource would not correctly send the Dark Green track color to some units. Fixed a problem where MapSource would not be able to import routes which contained a large number of duplicate map points. Fixed an issue that caused MapSource to set an invalid position for certain waypoints that were put into routes from the finder. Corrected a problem where MapSource would fail if it got a bad depth or elevation label from the map. Fixed an issue that caused MapSource to crash when inverting a route in European City Navigator version 5. Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  10. So let it DIE!!! Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  11. Just giving this page a bump so it doesn't disappear from view... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  12. quote:Originally posted by Gator51: reality is only a concept for prople without a GPS I may be sticking my neck out, but I for one don't think prople have earned the right to have a GPS! Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  13. We could also do the park where we met last year, which I thought was fine, although it, too, had I think a $4 entry fee. Irvine Regional Park? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  14. All right, here's my idea: Monrovia Canyon Park. I've cached there several times, and our kids' school did a campout there. It has a nature center, bathrooms, etc., and a reservable 2000 sq. ft. area with six picnic tables and 4 BBQ's. The best news is that it's available, and only costs $50, plus a returnable $50 deposit... which I can front. My reservations are as follows: this is a serious change of venue for the OC crowd. It's not as bad as Griffith Park - in a lot of respects ; - but it is certainly north of Huntington Beach. I also don't know if six tables will hold the burgeoning crowd! I am not opposed to another OC location, nor am I wed to Monrovia. I'm just scrambling. So, what do you guys think? It would be great to get some kind of a consensus in the next day or so... I also contacted Tournament Park, which would be nice but is a bit further from OC. I've yet to hear back... Sorry I don't live in a bigger house! Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  15. Thanks for keeping up on this, Husqui. By the way... how big is your back-yard? Seriously, I've never been to the park and thus have no Plan B. But we're a resourceful bunch. Any ideas? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  16. As of March 4. For all who are interested... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  17. Truthfully, I've found the approval process to be fair. I've had a couple denied, but they were questionable to start with! Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  18. quote:Originally posted by BeOnTheLookOut:Why don't people keep up with the numbering sequence in the log books. _This just irks me!_ Don't people want to know how many have been there? I'm still unclear on what the complaint is... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  19. quote:Originally posted by husqui: But in the meantime, it probably would be a good idea to start soliciting F2F volunteers. Consider this the solicitation: anyone live close enough to the picnic site to want to get out there first thing on the morning of the 22nd and stake our claim? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  20. Hey Husqui: I've lost track of the picnic area reservation story. If I remember, we CAN'T register, right? So is it time to solicit volunteers to show up early and grab the prime spot? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  21. How much did he get paid for a week? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  22. Hey, Martin, by the way: your friend better make money while he can on that Neilsen diary: in the next year or so LA and NY are going to be the first cities where the diaries are replaced by computers the monitor what's REALLY being watched... Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  23. But, seriously, how weak a life is that? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
  24. Quite what? Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction."
