I've got a Vista - basically the same unit - and haven't yet run into a situation where it made any difference at all whether I was set to Track-up or North.
Just my two cents. I just set the co-ord's and head out!
Welcome to the sport.

That's what happens when you wine. If we'd whined, we wouldn't have gotten anything!

Can't find this in the faq (although I know I've read it somewhere): how do I put a quote from a pervious post into one of MY posts?

Here's something I haven't figured out in four months: you can access a window with the keystroke/smiley-face list on it... but I can't open the WHOLE window to see all of the faces. My ability to express myself is severly limited, man. Help!

I second what rdw says: if you can get a lock while out in the clear, you stand a much better chance of holding it once you're under cover...
Congrats! Good luck focussing on your job for a while...

I went for the Vista after very little research, and it's worked just right for me.

All right, I posted the event cache. Probably left out some stuff - let me know. I suggested that all further communication be logged on the cache page itself, so there will be a rough idea of how many people are coming. I left the agenda open (my kind of party) , but any particular ideas (gregusmaxis!) could now be posted on the page as well. See you soon!

I'll post it. Let me run the info by you that I've gathered from this thread, so you guys can tell me what I've left out before I put it up:
SoCal Geocacher's Picnic
Sunday, March 17.
Irvine Regional Park
N 33 47.698
W 117 45.228
$4 per car park entry fee
Potluck.
What hours are we talking about?
Anything in particular we want to ask people to bring?
I'm all for keeping it low-key, but, hey, if someone's into kareoke (see, I can't even spell it...)

I agree. I found the feature useful when someone vandalized one of my caches. I pulled it until I replaced the box and altered the location, then put it back on-line...

Look, you know what? I don't know anything about Jeremy. For all I know, he's really a woman or an eight year-old boy or... whatever. And I don't care how much money he's making.
I just like caching. And if $30 is going to make it more enjoyable, or challenging, or fun - for anyone - then it's a worthwhile investment.
My kids like hiking. They didn't used to. Can I pay for TWO years in advance?

Hey, email me off of my TALE OF TWO BRIDGES cache page in the Pasadena area...

Should someone post the cache on the Event Cache, home page of geocaching.com? I keep asking people if they're coming, and they don't know anything about it...
I'll do it if you want...
