  1. Manual entering of waypoints/caches...

"Mark" your current position > scroll to the coords that you just marked (highlight them) > [Enter] > alter the coords individually by rocking up or down, right to move to the next digit. When finished [Enter], then scroll up to waypoint name (top of screen) and change name the same way, either the GC# or cache name [Enter]. Then scroll to "Save" and [Enter]. Done!

Once saved, you can enter the next set of coords (and name) right from that point. Should not have to "mark" again.

Works in just about the same manner for any GPSr. ;)

Thanks so much. Your instructions were very clear and worked perfectly. I bought the eTrex for my grand son and he will be wanting me to teach him. He'll think I'm so smart.

  2. "Mark" your current postion - then "edit" that point to the coordinates you want. Then select that point and hit "goto"

Same general directions for most all Garmin units.

Everyone has been great, thanks. I went back and read the manual again. This time it made sense. I just couldn't figure that what it was telling me to do was edit my current position and enter in the NEW waypoint numers over the old, rename and save.

  3. I cannot find any instructions on how to manually put map coordinates for a geocach into my eTrex H. Is this only possible using my computer and a data transfer cable? If it's possible to do it manually, would someone direct me to a resource that would guide me through the process.

I don't have mine right in front of me, but I know it is under Waypoints. It will ask you if you want to create one from the position you are currently at. You can use the joystick and move up to the coords you want to enter.

    Sorry if that doesn't help.

It was helpful, I finally got it. Thanks.

    Phil
