Hi @JCACHEkingofthehide - it's basically the game Haggle -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haggle_(game) -- but with geocaching mixed in. The cards are hidden in several dozen geocaches which will be placed for the event. After the day caching in the region, everyone will haggle at the event before turning in their hand. I'd tabulate scores and present awards while everyone is eating/drinking. I have 5 other people helping me out; I'm not sure it can be run solo successfully. I've already made the playing cards (using https://www.makeplayingcards.com/). The box of them is still sitting in my office. The t-shirts were going to be made on-demand, so nothing yet. The logo of the event is in the first post. Note that I didn't pay a licensing fee to Groundspeak, so I can't use their logo on anything I'm selling. The paper playing cards are being given away free, so I got the OK to use the geocaching.com logo on them. I had thought to make the event geocoin look kinda like one of the cards (attached), and using Kickstarter for the geocoin, so I'd be sure to get at least 30 orders before actually making them. If you're interested in mocking up a t-shirt or coin design, I'd love to see them. I'm sticking with that maroon-ish color as the main color, but am open to any other ideas.

I'm running a full-day card-collecting geocaching rally event for my Community Celebration. I'm calling it "The BarterDash". At the recommendation of HQ, it's split into 2 events: Kickoff Event: https://coord.info/GC8HYJC Community Celebration: https://coord.info/GC8HMQN I've registered a domain and written a mobile-friendly web page at thebarterdash.com (it looks a bit stretched on a desktop, but still works fine). I've come up with a "logo", which is just stylized text with a border around it. Geocachers will be collecting cards from geocaches - I've already had some cards made (photo below) to give out at events and place in caches in the area to promote the event. During event-day, they will be collecting cards which will have many different types of caches on the front (Traditional & Webcam designs attached). I'm happy with the back of the card design - it will be the same for all cards. HQ has approved the cards, since I am not selling them. I've started getting into designing a geocoin and t-shirt. Nothing is set in stone with these. My thought for the t-shirt is below. My first thought for the geocoin is to make it rectangular and look like the Community Celebration card without the promo text at the top (and replacing the Groundspeak logo with the open-source G+ logo). I'm not a designer, and while I have help placing caches for the event, it's just me putting this event together. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hello Northeast! I'm trying to get the word out about my Community Celebration event on June 20 in central MA. Geocachers will go out to dozens of new geocaches and collect custom geocaching playing cards during the day. In the evening at the Community Celebration, they will Haggle to trade for different cards and learn the scoring rules. They'll be some great prizes for the top scoring teams, as well as door prizes raffled in the evening. I've attached an image of the promo card being left in geocaches and handed out at events. Interesting factoid. The two images I uploaded to my new virtual (GC7B7WP) gallery were dated as Jan 30, 2005. Was that the last day before virtuals were grandfathered? Photos people are uploading with their logs now have the correct date. Just thought it odd.

They could easily only look at logs since favorites were introduced, and look at the percentage of favorite points assigned.

I use Private Internet Access (https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/) as a VPN to block my ISP from sniffing information about me and selling it to advertisers. However, when I visit geocaching.com (and only geocaching.com), I often see this message when visiting a page: 403.6 - Forbidden IP address of the client has been rejected. The requested page can not be accessed via anonymous proxies. Why is that? I don't see it on any other site I use, including my bank and many e-stores. I realize it's an easy way to block some DOS attacks, but as VPNs become more common, it's going to become more of a problem for you. There are certainly less brute-force ways to protect your site. I'd like to hear about your plans to get rid of this archaic protection method.

Please feel free to add my North Central Massachusetts Cemetery Series to the list. You need to solve 9 puzzles and log each cache container in good faith. I've awarded 37 out of the 99 coins so far (I kept one for myself). I'm working on a nine cache puzzle series. If a person completes the series by finding the final cache, I'd like to give them a geocoin I've designed to keep as a reward. What is the best way to do this without someone abusing the reward (i.e. taking more than one geocoin)? After reading through these forums, I've had a few thoughts... 1. The caches in the series are for premium members only. 2. The final cache is nearby. I'll try and always leave 5 coins in there, in case a group is caching. If there are more than 5 in their group, they can contact me and we can work something out. 3. I can leave the coins (I need recommendations on this)... a. unactivated b. activated, and marked as collectable c. activated, but have the finder 'adopt' the geocoin, and I transfer ownership to them d. something else? Is it worth making these coins trackable at all? Do people care about that if they're just going to get the coin as a reward for completing the series? I'm relatively new to geocoins and would appreciate advice from people with more knowledge. Thanks, hyliston
