  1. Sorry but it's pretty clear that Geocaching doesn't Care about Hapmsters
  2. Was he FTF? And please don't tell me he left acorns in the cache!
  3. Thank you, thank you, thank you! When I first wanted to change my cache name, this feature was not available. Thanks, again! Hopefully what I have in mind isn't already taken (just a play on my original name). Hmm. This feature was around when I first created an account. It originally had all lowercase when I signed up, and the next day I edited my name to have the "N" and "S" capitalized. The ability to change your username has changed over the years. When I first started, users were able to change their handles anytime they wanted. Then there was a period of time (I don't remember the dates) when changes weren't allowed at all. Then it changed to the procedures in place now. And to answer the original question, my geoname still suits me.
  4. Sounds like a groundhog version of Wack-a-Mole.
  5. Sorry - just noticed this thread. Stone Mountain probably wouldn't be too far to go and there are a lot of caches in the park. It costs $10 to get in but it's a pretty cool place even with caches. Here's my bookmark of caches in the park.
  6. I guess the most interesting wildlife encounter I had was when I was caching with my brother and we were "attacked" by a turkey on the trail. It jumped out at us unexpectedly and then proceeded to posture on the trail in front of us. We figured it must have a nest nearby and was trying to lure us away. I got some not very good pictures of it:
  7. Okay, I've been wondering this since I read the cache page - what is Canadian tire money? Edit: nevermind - I Googled it.
  8. Worth the wait to see the video. Congrats! Now I can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip!
  9. I guess the reviewer believed that the problem could not be corrected. But yes, one would hope that reviewers would give the CO a chance to respond first, and either explain the situation or correct the problem. By the way, archiving can be appealed, first to the reviewer, and then to GS headquarters. As was pointed out in post #5 above, the cache was archived by a Lackey not a reviewer and probably because a land owner complained.
  10. I say Found It. But regardless, I can't wait to read the whole story and see the pictures!
  11. Well....I know EXACTLY the same now as I did prior to the latest updates. Wishful thinking on a "Check In" after emerging from the woods. Yeah, it's like getting the "To Be Continued" on a TV show's season ending. NOOOO!
  12. What is the record for the longest online cache found log ? If they are keeping notes on their whole trip, they could easily transcribe those into the found log giving us details of the whole trip from where they put in (including pictures I hope). Isn't there a character limit on a "found" log? Yes, but you get around that by posting notes - you just have to figure out where you page breaks are before posting.
  13. Thanks for creating and maintaining this map - it makes for a very cool visual account of their journey.
  14. You might want to head over to the Georgia Geocachers Association website and post on their forums.
  15. Too funny - I hardly ever look in the Geocoin forums anymore but noticed this topic title from the main forum summary. I think Jan and the Percey Boys summed it up perfectly. I remember practically stalking AtlantaGal just to get one of her (first) geocoins. Seemed like someone always just beat me to every cache but I was determined and finally victorious But the obsession finally died before I became bankrupt
  16. I want it all - a cool puzzle and a nice hide. And I'm not thinking the hide has to be at some super cool, fabulous location, but I would like it NOT to be an LPC or guardrail cache - that's just a let down (see GOF's reply).
  17. I'd like this, too. I often look back at my pictures and have wondered why there wasn't a link from my profile page.
  18. Check out the Georgia Geocachers Association website for caches the members have voted outstanding over the years - http://www.ggaonline.org/gga_awards.php. This does have caches all over Georgia but you should be able to find some in the Atlanta area.
  19. None of those shows are real. But even all the moonshinin' in Appalachia is a stereotypical myth perpetuated by comics and TV shows. Anyway, nowadays, they call them micro-breweries and micro-distilleries. Now are you saying that moonshining was a complete myth or that it wasn't as wide spread as the comics and TV shows make it out to be? Because if you saying it didn't happen, I have family history that would completely contradict that. As far as how wide spread it was - well, who knows?
  20. I would not agree to any membership fees to cover the cost of Google maps. They are still available for use. How much work you have to do to use them is purely a personal choice. So why should I pay more for Google maps that I get for no additional cost today just so you can get them because you don't wish to make the needed personal choices or expend the needed personal efforts? I also don't think membership fees should be increased. jholly makes an excellent point.
  21. Yay! That was the one thing I didn't like about the rearranging: having the hiking sub-forum merged into General topics. And now that the hiking forum is back, I think it all looks good.
  22. There was a cancellation last week and I took Calvin (Callie) and Tux in because I could easily catch them. Turns out that the 3 with the tipped ear are indeed already spayed/neutered (which I suspected after exchanging emails with Paisley Cat). That's good because I honestly don't know how I would have caught China in the first place. The vet said they were done at 8 to 10 weeks of age. I did get the DHLP (I think that's the name of the shot) for the two and also had them treated for ear mites. Smudge (the one without a tipped ear) goes tomorrow morning as long as she shows up for breakfast, which she should. Her procedure is going to be quite involved and double the price for the spay portion. She is pregnant, experiencing a false pregnancy or miscarried, and has signs of mastitis. She'll also have to stay there for a few days to heal. Am hoping some US peeps get their coins today. Well, that's definitely good news about the 3. Hopefully Smudge's trip won't be too traumatic for her and she'll soon be back posing for pics!
