  1. I have read all the info on geocoins and searched this forum but couldn't find the answer so apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere.

Yesterday I picked up my first geocoin and came home to log my find. Only problem is the person who had it last has logged their visit to the cache but hasn't registered the coin as dropped there. I 'grabbed it' from them but now realise that the coin owners can't see where it has been. Did I do the right thing? What should I do now? It s a 'Remembering the Fallen' coin so I feel it is quite important.

Thanks in advance for any help,

As you noted, they already logged their caches for the day. So they probably forgot they dropped the trackable there. You did the right thing by grabbing it. If you want to keep the record straight, have the coin visit the cache you got it from to give it credit for being there. Whenever you drop it, be sure to log that.

I would suggest contacting the person that held the coin first before "grabbing" it. I am sure it was an oops that they forgot to log it into the cache, but as someone who has been guilty of this, it is always appreciated when I am permitted to fix my mistake (ie: post a note to the cache dropping the coin in) instead of someone else grabbing it and dipping it back into the cache (one of my pet peeves...kind-of feels insulting to me when someone does this to me...like I got busted by the teacher doing something bad). I think it is a more true representation of what actually happened when I can drop it than someone grabbing it from me. If a few days pass and you get no reponse, then grab it. The only downside...you will not be able to drop it in a cache until the "dropping" is resolved.

  2. version C, anyone know where that one is going, which event?

Those were samples made before any of the event organizers picked our colors...so, I doubt that any of those were minted for any of the events (except maybe Mark's, since he was involved in minting them).

  3. is the pittsburgh event being hosted by the dragons? Not an event or event coin I want to miss...

I anyone gets an extra, I would like to trade or purchase one of each event coin...I don't generally try to collect different version of the same coin, but this will most certainly be an exception for personal reasons.

Yup, we are hosting the Pgh one...now that the holidaze are over, I have time to secure a location to host it. I'll post that info when I have it. Until then, here is the coin art.

  4. Coin # 32 arrived safely in our mail recepticle, along with the note of apology. I am sure that now that the coins have been sent out, the extra items will arrive...it was proably all just a goverment conspiracy to cover up this pro-alien movement. They're out there somewhere...

  5. Has he been on FB much? I sent him a friend request a couple of weeks ago (was surprised that we had not already "friended" each other) and have not heard back from him. Glad to hear the updates on him in the forums, though.

He has only been on Facebook 2 or 3 times in the last month. And just long enough to post one or two sentences. Not a lot of energy right now. Hopefully he will take a look at his friend requests and answer some soon.... But then hey how many have I got sitting there that I haven't responded to?

That's what I thought...no biggie...there are more important stuff to think about than FB, that's for sure. Like I said before, I am glad to be able to read updates here.

  6. Please can you put up a link to RC's facebook page please

I don't know if you'll be able to see it, or if He'll be able to respond to friend requests, but here's the link.

oh yeh...and some loose candy in the box

  9. We also have not received word that the package that we sent was received. It is frustrating my daughter to no end...she keeps asking if the person that we sent to likes her presents and when she will be receiving hers. My older one, unfortunately, has been disappointed on other missions arriving late or not at all, so she has not said anything and has been patient. I am sure that it will get here soon...but it is hard to explain to an impatient 8-year-old.
No word on ours being received and still no package for us either. I think I am as disapointed as your daughter. I put a bit of work into this mission with the thought that it would bring a smile or laugh to my recipient....it would be nice to know if it worked.

Did both of you let River Cacher know?

No...I was under the impression that, as the organizer of this mission, that he was following this thread (or, if he could not, then he made arrangements with someone else to do it for him). I will send an email since day 3 has come and gone with no package.

sorry if I sound testy...but my daughter was one of the folks that received ziplok bags and a coin for her Christmas mission last year...it is just frustrating when expectations are high...plus I feel like a HUGE whiner (which I hate) when I have to ask about this stuff.

  11. We would really like to post what we opened yesterday and today...but still no package (today's mail already came) :anitongue:

  12. I'm having some creative thoughts on this one!

    email sent- 10/19/10

name received- 10/31...I am on track on this one!

mission sent- 11/7 I hope the creativity is enjoyed :)

    mission received-

 Nothing in my mailbox today....hopefully tomorow. I mailed our box on the 9th, my delivery confirmation shows that it was delivered on the 17th....perhaps we need a reminder to post when we receive our packages??? :D .....or they didn't like my creativity? :D

I hear ya...our recipient has not posted that is was received (maybe they were away for the holiday??) and we have not yet received anything (today's mail just arrived and no package). I hope it arrives soon...otherwise it kind-of defeats the purpose of the advent theme
