  1. i enjoyed the veruca salt (1971) imitations.
  2. i write stuff on my palm all the time, but it usually wears off by the time i get from that stage of the multicache to the next.
  3. i hear it is a lottery system that improves your opportunities to "win" based on post count.
  4. where do i begin? one night a long series came out near the house. i ran out the door and before i had found 5 of the caches i was approached by four different law officers inquiring and warning me to be careful. one morning, my daughter (4 at the time) and i went to a greenspace to find a cache. we were walking back to the car and two different police cars pulled up to find out what we were up to - and possibly make sure that was actually my daughter. when i said geocaching and showed the map, they said "oh, like a weapons cache". i replied, "no officer, but these are ammo boxes" GULP! i was stuck in the dirt/sand on a florida backroad. i had walked out to the county road and a deputy stopped to see what i was up to. i explained that my car was stuck a mile away on a dirt road. he asked why i was out there, and i explained geocaching. he said he was guessing that because of the gps in my hand. he then says "hope you get your car out" and leaves. i had friends hide a cache in front of the sheriff's department a very short distance from my work. they knew i'd have a hard time with it - because of the proximity and the open site of the office to the location. they were right. every time i pulled up to get it, i couldn't help but think i was about to get the run around (and still never be able to pull the cache out to show them). finally, after a year, they had mercy on me and escorted me. before i got out of the car, i could see the cache. i was so embarrassed.
  5. i have done it multiple times. one recent cache, i was first on and then a year later, 20-something. i unrolled the log and recognized the handwriting at the top. it's pretty darn laughable because i didn't log it online the first go around for some unknown reason.
  6. I hope they're all 30 minute flash mobs. that don't move from the specified coordinates.
  7. there are 365 special days this year. each one has their own date. special as in souvenir special? who knows. i know i'd like to see a "may the fourth" event thing pushed, but past that who knows. may 2, wwfm, august, international geo-day...
  8. if someone ever wanted a cache container or placement critiqued into oblivion... post it in the forums.
  9. you cannot be confused with a quitter... after 14 pages. it seems that this is a big part of the issue. language and cultural differences combined with internet familiarity have some assuming understanding where there is very little. for the small group(s) of 5-10 cachers that want to hike to the top of mt. everest as a single event with no 30 minute break at the beginning, middle, or end... they'll have to find another way to organize their niche, clique, gang, or special interest group. for all others... we'll be sitting down in the restaurant divulging all the puzzle finals and signing logs of caches that were brought to the event.
  10. One of the many reasons I don't like challenge caches of any kind, Mr. Fizzy. this actually pulls the fizzy challenge into it as well. 100 day streak, rate it 3.5/3.5. 150 day streak rate it some other rare combo, etc. all the way to 500+ day streaks. in fact, find 10 caches on a monday and you can get a 4.5/5.0 . find 10 on a tuesday and we'll get you a 3.5 /4.0 skirt lifter. all you really can do is laugh, it doesn't seem like there's any interest in stemming these challenge caches.
  11. i have no pictures of any of the three events i attended this weekend. i also am not in any pictures taken by others that i am aware of. does that mean i don't have enough credibility to make an attended log? ohz noEs!$!$#$##@%!!!!
  12. obviously, people are pointing out there's more than one potential issue here. i'll address what you've put in this post though only. it is possible that the person came through and actually did do the items requested in your earthcaches and in their haste to log caches in the area that they DID find, they've inadvertantly logged this other cache. i get that from time to time on some of my puzzle caches because people aren't always very attentive when field logging (or logging after a trip). in most cases, an email gets it cleared up. if you think they didn't even visit your locations for earthcaches, but still provided the correct answsers, i don't believe you have any recourse. future prevention would be to improve the requested answers to include things that can't be done from 2,000 miles away (and photos others have posted).
  13. i've been able to take some aspects of work and merge it with caching.... earthcaching as well as CITO events. used to be a boy scout leader (pre-geocaching MB) and that was combined easily.
  14. i was told some time ago that there is no way to control how or who finds your (my) cache. in the case of yours, and one in particular that i was watching, it was getting pretty silly and obvious over the past 6-8 months what was becoming a more frequent happenstance. i truly don't know how that cache made it out of texas last year when the promise (threat) of taking it and dropping it at the Mega event was offered.
  15. it's simple, this horrid FTF thief must be a reviewer.
  16. And it was buried and had a can of beans it it. i hope someone reported it to Groundspeak.
  17. those empties, glued shut or not, would disappear eventually. i had something similar, guy came through cleaned out half of the inventory because he believed them to be swag.
  18. others have pointed out about the no-no "email for coords". however, there is a way for you to do this that would not be an email type situation. one of the online checkers allows for a keyword (instead of the traditional coordinates) to be entered in, you could give a string of random number/letters in the 16 caches and users could then put those together to get the keyword and enter into the checker on #17. #17 could also be set up as a Wherigo with the similar keyword usage within that line.
  19. you are missing a few people from the team. my brother works for licensing and he provided the license for that boat. my cousin rents the scuba equipment that was used for that find. then there is me, frank and carol had to skype me so that i could explain the precise manner which the seal had to be broken and re-attached. if we are going over the top......might as well be together. the only people that should care is the finder and the hider. oh...and the challenge cache owner who is now dragged into this fray because that completed a special challenge requiring a 5/5 find on a day that ended in "y".
  20. a geo-buddy and i have done this. it wasn't to pass a trackable, but it was to pass a few items between us and it was easiest to email him coords of where i stashed an item or three. in fact... we also put together a trail of caches that way. he made a container or two and stashed them near the trail. we came out individually with the coords of where the potential cache containers were stored and moved them to their final resting spot. its really a handy way of dealing with conflicting schedules, but paths that cross.
  21. it would only be ethical if it were the gold glitter. the silver glitter contains an eye irritant, and the red is dyed with something that causes cancer in 3 toed blind lab rats.
  22. the possibilities were endless here, in Austin. you wouldn't be the first foreigner to ever be toted around town for that cache (or several others). i've heard of at least one person that seems to make it a yearly event (coming to Austin and having someone drive him around to all the different caches). if you know in advance you are traveling somewhere, consider an event (either as host or attendee). i know i've met locals that way who were more than eager to help show off the better side of the caches in the area.
  23. ignore cacher would present one superficial problem: what happens if that particular cacher comes for one of your caches and marks it as "NM" for some legit reason? i'm pretty free and liberal with my use of the ignore list though, and ignore user would come in handy, even if there were the issue above.
  24. as any responsible cache owner, you should verify the physical log after each and every online log. also, verify the time of day stated. it will also be a good idea to make sure that the entire cacher name is legible and on the line with the date and time.
