  1. Why would anyone do this? Sorry, was attempting and obviously failing to inject some humour here! Although i agree it can be very frustrating. I'm sorry too - I did not spot the smiley
  2. If Bonnie and Clyde can't help with the Liverpool Peter Pan I am very likely to pass near Sefton Park in the near future. What is wanted - a PM with the coodinates to you or more?
  3. That really is rather good - especially as you can link on to Google Earth.
  4. I would have thought it obvious that the entrance charge should be mentioned in the cache description together with the $ symbol. As for deletion of the DNF log, I think that right but it might have been more tactful to ask the logger to change his log to "write a note" rather than simply delete and cause ill feeling.
  5. I had a cache up the chimney of a hilltop shelter/viewpoint until someone lit the fire!
  6. After all my excitement I won't be able to come after all but hope you all have a great time. Safe journeys Alex!
  7. You could follow the example of a devious cacher in the North West who filled a bucket with small containers with the coordinates of the real cache in only a few of them - that is if you enjoy your name being mud.
  8. Why on earth have I not already replied to this topic - of course I want to come - now where is that photo of our Perce?
  9. Some people like to live dangerously! Sorry I can't help though and don't want to discourage enterprise, but is a cache easily found a good place for a TB?
  10. I agree with what has been said - a month is not very long for some caches. But if you are worried you could always retrieve it yourself and put it in a more visited cache so long as you only "write a note" when logging your second visit.
  11. I loved that remark -almost poached it as my signature line.
  12. The alternative if you own any archived caches is to put it into one of those.
  13. Yes, and the first cache I found was in an Foot and Mouth exclusion zone and I only found out when I left the site having entered by a legitimate route which gave no indication that I was entering an exclusion zone!
  14. Exactly my thoughts - but (not wishing to stir it), did the Romans give permission?
  15. AFAIK they are only available in Lidl stores. They had two sorts when I bought mine a while back, a real pocket one which folds down and a more traditional "thump thump" one. Edited to add that I have had another look at mine and it appears to be made by Trodat and therefore may be on their website. Try Googling.
  16. It does not need to be magnetic if you put something sticky on the end of a pole you should be able to drag it back - take along a pole and a roll of double sided sticky tape or something like that. I am assuming it is too far for one of those gripper sticks they market for disabled people - being a bit dimensionally disadvantaged I keep one in my cachemobile. Sorry I am too far away to help but good luck and don't fall in the river.
  17. Welcome too to this mad world of Geocaching. The Blorenges have given sound advice and I would emphasise that the variety of the game is one of its attractions. I have to admit that some days I go out to see how many I can find in an area, others to find a single cache perhaps an interesting sounding multi or a good walk to a viewpoint. The one thing I might add is to try to go to an event if there is one near you. Either the camping events (which you can mostly visit on a day basis) or an evening get together in a pub give the opportunity to meet others and compare notes. In my experience you will be made very welcome and find we are not all totally mad but all different. But mainly enjoy yourself.
  18. There are or have been at least two "End of the Line" caches, the ones I know were located on or near bridge abutments where the actual bridge had gone - and so the line could go no further! The variation in one case was that part one of the cache was on one side of the river and the other a long way round if you were not amphibious.
  19. In my diary - if you will accept a day visitor. I sound a great site for those of you hardy enough to camp - hope it goes well.
  20. Woops - I think I used the wrong smiley as I too hoped it was a joke! And I am very much in favour of your suggestion of taking out junior membership to get access to free car parking - if you are not wanting access to houses it is a good option especially if money is tight - you certainly are not doing the NT out of revenue and who knows in time you may want to take out full membership - good luck to you!
