  1. It's a Hairless Chinese Crested, not sure why they're called that because they do have hair on their head feet and tails.
  2. The round trip from Princetown is just over 100 miles and according to Autoroute is about 3 hours driving time. It would be very wise to take some spare clothes to change into after some of the caves, a few of them are more than a little dirty Took me 2 days and one sleepless night Well, I actually woke up at 3 in the morning with a flash of inspiration and solved the puzzle. Have fun and take care.
  3. Hi Kim, You could do far worse than plan a day up around Fur Tor. The Tors Of Dartmoor Series cache is not too hard to find, unlike some others in the series and Davy Boys new one is definately one of my favourites. There is also one up on top of Cut Hill where you have a wonderful 360° view of the North Moor. Depending on your route in/out there are others you can pick up on the way but it wont be a big numbers day, tireing, yes, but very satisfying. Whichever you choose, have a good one.
  4. You could still publish the pictures and with a bit of editing remove any identifying features. This would also save the embarrassment of some of the contributors, ie ME.
  5. Would I be able to log it twice if I saw two different red cars. If it were an approved cache, yes, I would log it!
  6. I must be very unlucky then The first two coins I released were undrilled and were stolen. The next two I drilled and attached a keyring with mission statement and one has already been taken. The last one is safe with a cacher at the moment but I don't hold much hope for it when it gets released. I am seriously considering not releasing any more because although I appreciate what you say about caching costs, I get the enjoyment from my expenditure for that and I will not, in future, pay to add to some thiefs coin collection.
  7. Apparently not A coin I recently drilled and released visited 2 caches before it was stolen.
  8. I don't know if there is a reason it wont work on a mio p350 but I installed Fugawi to a Windows Mobile 5 device and had the same problem. After checking the Fugawi support pages I found there was an update which fixed the download problem. As long as you have Fugawi UK Digital Maps Version 2 engine 3.2.0.677 or later you can get a free update. I've never used Memory Map so I can't offer any comparisons but I have never been disappointed with how Fugawi works. It was a bit slow on my old Palm but on PPC it works very fast and I haven't noticed any lag when navigating the country lanes with it. I use it very often around the lanes because Tom Tom has a nasty habit of sending me miles out of my way. The only problem I ever found with Fugawi was that you could not edit waypoints coordinates. With the new update though, that is now possible which is invaluable for plotting the final of a multi. It does everything I want for caching so I am very pleased with it.
  9. Go to "Edit Record" then the "Desc" tab and you will be able to highlight and copy what you need.
  10. My thoughts exactly when I saw this one appear. I have no interest in Waymarking but I will do this one at some point just because it is on Dartmoor. I don't believe you have to log your visits on Waymarking.com in order to claim the cache so I suppose it's no different than a multi except that the coordinates for the stages are not listed on the page, you have to get them from the relevent waymark page. I hope this doesn't become a common type of cache though or else we could end up with "local" caches where you have to visit waymarks 100's of miles away in order to log the cache. At least with this one they are all on Dartmoor.
  11. 12.....plus, maybe, the odd letterbox. Seriously, if they plan to get 500, I wouldn't bet on them getting any less than that. Good luck to them all, hope they have a brilliant time of it.
  12. Oh that one is brilliant!!! Amusing yes, but I had a job explaining to the farmer what I was doing creeping up behind his sheep in the middle of Bodmin Moor!
  13. Following the instructions in the OP worked fine and I now have the Multimap displaying again. When clicking on the map I no longer get the linked Multimap page opening. Instead, I get a GC page with "searching with Google maps". How can I get the link to the relevant Multimap page working again please.
  14. Perfect! Thanks for the help, I've found it again.
  15. Is there any way I can search for a particular coin by name on the site. I used to have a coin in my watch list but deleted it and I no longer have the tracking number. I was just interested in seeing how it is travelling. Many thanks.
  16. For anyone interested in a "Dartmoor National Park" Geocoin they have just become available here. PS. I'm making nothing from the coin so am not touting!
  17. In response to the OP, I felt sorry for the dog owner as well as Nick. He/she was probably what they thought to be a responsible dog owner or they would not have given their details so readily. Unfortunately they made the mistake of trusting their dog enough to let it off the lead in public, but they must now pay for their actions. The Police, no doubt, will follow through and the dog will be destroyed. "All" dogs have the potential to bite if they feel threatened and although Nick was posing no threat, the dog perceived a threat, so attacked. Even the best trained dog will defend itself if it feels threatened, the same as any of us would. It is a basic animal instinct. If any legislation were needed then having all dogs on leads in public places may help but there will always be exceptions. I don't think any dog owner would defend the reputation of a dog that bit anyone, in a public place, and no one has here. I would defend responsible dogs and owners as strongly as I would condemn irresponsible dogs or owners. "Some" people are much more important than "some" dogs, I would agree with. Here is a link for you to look at, would you feel it necessary to defend the "people" responsible for this? Link
  18. Right click on the GPX file, "Open with", "Choose program", "Google Earth". Google Earth will then open with your chosen caches. The next time you right click the GPX file and "Open with" you should have Google Earth in the list.
  19. When the Gin is ready to be filtered, destone the sloes then cover in melted chocolate to make your own liquers. The chocolate advent calenders make ideal bases for the liquers and the tray can be reused to make as many as you need. Near one of my caches are several blackthorns and they were fully laden this year. We have 5 bottles on the go at the moment so should be in for a good Christmas. Another of my caches is under a Sweet Chestnut tree and we have already had our share of them. I prefer them uncooked, they are great, sliced, in a salad.
  20. The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch takes care of them!
  21. Adders are very common on Dartmoor, we've seen several when out walking with the dogs. There are some excellent pictures taken by a cacher at this cache. Poko 1 This one is a beauty
  22. I know nothing about the games device but you can get a 1GB SD card at 7dayshop.com for £14.24 including postage. I bought one a few weeks ago and it works fine. Fast delivery from Channel Islands too.
