Just out of curiosity . . . The orginal link in this thread was to a .mil url. Did that page have a copyrighted US News & World Report article on it? If so, how does the government justify that? Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

This one is interesting, but I was unable to complete it in the manner it was supposed to be done. The second or third spot eluded me. I kept with the theme and finally spotted it. One of the more interesting hunts I recall was: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=22674 Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

Is anyone else having difficulty uploading images? Last evening and this morning has been a struggle to get cache images up. After clicking upload image, it is taking a long time. Most times an error is returned that the server could not be found. Is anyone working on the system that might be interrupting this feature? How did you find out about Geocaching???
Frolickin replied to Miatamatt's topic in General geocaching topics
My family and I are gadget junkies. We like our toys and have many. We all had been enamored with GPS technology for a long time. We each agreed that being able to tell one's position at any time would be wonderful. But then we would ask, "What good would that really be? What could you do with knowing that information?" Then we would drift out of that conversation for we know we wouldn't be purchasing one that day. Last fall, a friend of mine, Webfoot, sent me an article all about geocaching in which he was quoted. I read on about it and was hooked. I researched the old forum for makes and models and soon purchased one. Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose -
If a TB completes a goal and makes it back home, can one recycle the tag and set another TB off with the same tag number? If so, what happens to the logs of the first TB with that tag number? Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

There was a dress I saw once (Wired, maybe) made of those AOL discs. As for a cache based on them, I see no problem with it, but I also do not think it sounds too exciting. Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

This sounds like it would be fun. The problem with a sprint kind of race is that we are all in different parts. I think, perhaps, an obstacle course of sorts would be interesting. If there were five folks involved, then the bugs would have five starting points. The race could be the first bug to be logged in those five caches. What about handicap accessible caches?
Frolickin replied to irvingdog's topic in General geocaching topics
There was a cache around here that was advertised as a handicap-accessible cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=22324 For some reason it is archived. I wrote the cache owner about it, but never heard back as to why. Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose -

Fire in Double Trouble Park in NJ

There are 194 within a 100 mile radius. That is more than I thought considering one quadrant is the ocean. I have not been keeping a running total, but this is certainly up from last November. Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

I have a suggestion for My Cache Page. The top of the page has the small graphic (My Cache Page). To the right is the gray table beginning with the search for caches. Because of the layout, there is a huge amount of white space at the top of the page. Not that I am trying to look at my ugly mug or anything, but it seems as though an optional photograph should be able to be selected to display there. It seems empty. Just a thought . . . I have had no problem with the two GPS units I have had at my home. I lose sat lock at work indoors, however. That, I am certain, is due to all the concrete and the lack of windows in the area I have my office. Fro. ________________________________________ Geocaching . . . hiking with a purpose

Well, I try to take along the misses whenever I go, but she isn't always interested. I'd say about 25% of the time she and I go together. When we do, we usually linger and enjoy an area. When she remains behind, I head out alone. Depending on my time, etc. determines how long I will stay. For instance, today I found, logged, and split as I needed to get back for something. Fro.

I have video from the first cache we sought. It is rather humorous and definitely shows at least one confused cacher. My fiancee had a few snide remarks about my confusion as well. Fro.
