  1. Unfortunately we have never been there. But at least I have posted and visited a few waymarks on the Isle of Skye.
  2. And what about the officer, who approved it? Two own waymarks and 6 visits. Really?
  3. Fortunately there are some waymarkers in Wien, that visit a few of my waymark every now and then.
  4. Pretending that you have 6 photos and want to replace the default photo, you just have to delete it, upload a new version of it and "Set as default waymark image" and everything will be fine. Even if #2 becomes the default photo after deleting #1, you can still upload the new default photo (#7) and by making this the default photo it will be displayed as #1. But if you decide that photo #3 should be the default photo, #7 will again be the last on the list. If you want to replace photo #4 instead, you have to delete 4, 5 and 6 and upload the new 4, and then 5 and 6 to keep the current sorting order. So, it seems as if they are sorted chronologically by the time of their upload, but the one selected to be the default photo is always #1, but keeps it's position in the sorting order in case it is not the default photo anymore. Difficult to explain in a foreign language.
  5. Well, as soon as the crisis is over, you should come to Austria (or any other European city with lots of history) and I'm sure you will find your 30er too (although History is just one of the 15 departments). But I'm also sure, that it is possible in your part of the world. I found them in Steyr and there are several reasons why I was successful: 1. It's a very old town. That means: Lots of waymarks for History, but also for Buildings, Culture, Structures and other departments. 2. No active waymarkers there. There are still no other waymarks in Steyr apart from the ones I created years ago. 3. There are 2 rivers meeting within the city. Fortunately they not only cover the Nature department (River Confluence), but also I found a fish ladder for the Animals department and a River Gauge for Measurements. 4. Because of number one, it is usually also crowded with tourists, which makes Business, Entertainment and Recreation much easier. 5. It's a rather small town, where the center is crowded with businesses that are more widespread in bigger cities. Talking about Wien: The disadvantage of Wien is, that I am almost the only one, who creates waymarks here and since I hardly visit my own waymarks (apart from special situations where f.e. a waymark has severly changed) there are no waymarks in "exotic" categories, that I can visit. On the other hand I'm happy that I hardly have any competition. When they opened the first Hard Rock Cafe in Wien in 2014, I was too slow, but at least I was fast enough for the first Apple Store in Wien.
  6. If you want to replace the default photo, you just have to delete it, upload the new version of it and "Set as default waymark image" and it will automatically be the first photo, but if you want to replace one of the other photos (#2 to #x), you have to delete this one and every photo behind it, to keep the same sorting. Very annoying, but after a while you either give up on persisting on a specific sorting or start the upload process, when you are 100% sure that this is what you want.
  7. Yes, we do. And the "Waymarking.com Features & Functions" forum is full of other bugs that we want to get rid of and features that we would love to have. But ....
  8. Thanks to everybody. The waymark was approved in the World War II Memorials / Monuments category.
  9. Thanks a lot. That's what I also thought, but the category description says "dedicated to those who served in, or died during, WWII", but the brigade was formed after Albania had been liberated. Maybe the people in that brigade were fighting in WW II before the brigade was officially formed, but I don't know.
  10. They are used to their "TFTC!" in their geocache logs, and if they use "TFTW!" instead they feel like experienced waymarkers.
  11. Going through the photos of Albania I found one of the following memorial: The text says: In this country, on November 29, 1944, the day of the liberation of Albania from the Nazi-fascist occupiers, the 27S partisan brigade of the Shkodra region was formed. So, what is the right category for this? Relief would be one, but I would like to add it to a category that better fits to the meaning of the monument, rather than just to the shape of it.
  12. The "problem" is: I hardly make any geotours anymore. I grab my camera and go on a Waymarking tour and if there are some geocaches around, I grab those also. :-)
  13. Or add that in a comment so that all the other geocachers can read it.
  14. Any Lucky 7 waymark has at least a tally of 7. But of course it is a challenge to find more than 7 departments and it is a further challenge to find all the 15 departments, and once you did that, one will try to find them within 0.1 miles. I was once lucky enough to find all the 15 different departments within 0.1 miles here. But now that I have the maximum tally of 30, I don't care that much about the tally anymore. Some will either create several Lucky 7 waymarks, while others will create one with the highest possible tally. It's just a matter of taste.
  15. Wait a minute. It says "that negatively affects society" and not "that made the society change something". A disaster doesn't necessarily have the effect that the society changes something. What do they do after an earthquake? The accident negatively affected society by killing several people. And maybe they haven't changed traffic patterns (as if that would stop a drunken driver), but at least they created that memorial to maybe make some people think before they enter their car with alcohol in their blood. Edited to add: It's not that easy to find photos of these memorials for Europeans (the provided link doesn't work here), but finally I saw them in a video I found. Now that I have seen them, I would also suggest the Citizen Memorial category, because the plaques don't even mention the accident, but instead talk about the killed persons.
  16. Interesting. I decide such a problem like this: If the person did do something remarkable and was therefore honoured with a memorial, it's a Citizen Memorial (to me). If several people were killed in an accident and the memorial is there, because of the accident (of otherwise unknown persons), it's a disaster memorial (f.e. https://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/wm10E9V). Different people, different opinions. :-)
  17. That's part of what I just now emailed to him and another user of a similar kind. My guess is that they neither read the visit instructions (or don't take them too serious), nor the forums. So, a personal note should maybe help and if they don't react on that, I will send another mail via geocaching.com.
  18. I think I have visits of the same user. Simãopwr? He logged at least two of my waymarks in Sweden and one in Austria with the very same day and only 1 or 2 words, but without photos. He has been a geocacher for years and seems to be a new Waymarking user and he probably doesn't understand the Waymarking rules yet. I will also email him with a personal mail and explain everything to him once more. Usually I don't delete this kind of visits, unless the visitor obviously logged a visit by accident (if for example my waymark has a similar name as the waymark that was actually visited). But whenever I delete a waymark I send an email earlier to give the user the chance to explain or correct the mistake.
  19. Maybe I have some further information on that matter. Lately I noticed the same behaviour on some of my own waymarks. Usually I don't include photos in the long description, but I do it in Lucky 7 waymarks. I learned, that in the older waymarks I used f.e. http://img.Groundspeak.com/Waymarking/5fa95c9c-7b6e-49d2-89dc-7eb0f417c5ac.jpg, which doesn't work with https, while I used https://img.geocaching.com/Waymarking/29cb57ce-a971-4776-9de6-1255c98cc7e6.jpg (which will also work with http) on the newer ones. So my guess is, that some browsers don't allow the page of the waymark to include images of an "unsecure" source. The problem with changing settings of your browser is that you only solve the problem on this one browser, but don't solve the problem for the rest of the world. A really good solution would be to replace "http://img.Groundspeak.com" with "https://img.geocaching.com" in all your waymarks. But with the many waymarks we have, we either have to spend LOTS of time on this or hope that Groundspeak will make a script, that will Search/Replace this on all the waymarks. I wonder, if any of these two solutions will come true.
  20. Think about it that way: The next winter we will (hopefully) more think about snowmen than about Covid-19.
  21. Just to add my opinion: I looked at the provided map with the locations of the vending machines and it showed locations on almost every continent. After hearing that other similar vending machines of other companies will be allowed I didn't think that prevelance was an issue. And with the decreasing number of waymarkers I thought that we had enough locations (even though there is none in my country _yet_). I was really nervous during the peer review for my Chronograms category, because there are only a few of them outside of Europe, but fortunately it passed PR. Nobody knew (or will ever know) how many there are (not even me), but it was interesting enough to try nonetheless. It's not fair, but it seems (to me) that either a new category is interesting enough to allow it although it might not be really global or it is not interesting (to the voter) and the voters will find other reasons to deny it or - in other word - take a closer look to prevelance, etc. And "permanent" is relative. How permanent are Penny Smashers, Free Little Pantries, Insect Hotels,....? I've never seen any of these vending machines and therefore I didn't know if they are permanently in a shop or "on tour". I only knew the "Märchen-Automaten" I mentioned earlier and those were permanent (mostly attached to a wall or reling) until they changed our currency to Euros and they all were removed, because the machines didn't accept Euro coins and it was too much effort for the owner to convert them all. @Wolfen32 : Don't give up. With every new suggestion for a category and maybe PRs you will better understand what "the waymarkers" like or don't. It might even help to read through older threads of this forum to learn what has worked or failed (and why). I (like many others here) have been in your shoes. We had a good idea (at least we thought it was a good idea), but finally (sometimes after a lot of time and effort) it didn't make it through peer review. But one day you will have another good idea and the majority will agree.
  22. My way is to click on "Newest Groups" on the right side. There you will find a link to the Group "Short Storytellers" and also the category "Short Story Vending Machines".
  23. The description doesn't say whether vending machines that sell stories (for money - like the machines I mentioned above) will be accepted or not. I'm not a native English speaking person, and therefore this (maybe theoretical) question: If the category would not allow machines, that sell stories for money, should it then be called "Short Story Dispensing Machines" or is it a vending machine even if the stories are for free?
