  1. Congradulations from us two too. Hope you both have many happy years.....
  2. I would be surprised if the wrong time had any effect on the lock of position. I have not tried the stopwatch mode but then again am not likely to. Don't need one of those. Just a gps that will get me to where I want to be. laughs..
  3. I have found an amazing answer to getting tracks or routes imported from fugawi to the colorado. Save the tracks or routes as a gpx file and then drop the file straight into the folder that will be on the computer when you have the colorado connected. Different but a way around it....To save as a gps file just save file as name.gpx Well that was the idea from a posting - not that I have gotten it to work. lol...Will probably do it the long way around if I feel the need...
  4. Thanks for the reply on this issue. Hopefully it will soon be resolved as at the moment if I want to add tracks have to put them onto my etrex then onto mapsource then onto the colorado. Mapsource of course does see the new gps....
  5. Yes I did find one odd thing with the time. It can only be set in Europe for Western, Central, or Eastern Europe time and the time seemed to be wrong. Hopefully that will be sorted with a software update although having said that that does not detract from the unit seeming to be very good. It is nice and solid. I like being able to clip the gps to my belt too. I will add any problems I find - if any - onto the forum..
  6. Too late. I have bought one now. It seems looking at the reviews some are really happy with the colorado, some less so. It all depends what you want out of it I suppose. Myself though I am quite impressed with the colorado. Paperless caching without having to carry a pda as well as a gps are a great bonus. It picks up the satellite quickly and locks on great. With any new item there are bound to be teething trouble with the software but am sure regular updates will sort all those out...
  7. I tried to get fugawi to recognise my new colorado but cannot get it to see the gps. Has anyone been able to do this - and if so what settings did you use on gps to do it?
  8. Thanks for the offer. But I have got to like this gps rather quickly. Picking a cache deep in a valley for next weekend just to see how it gets on with tree cover in a valley.
  9. Ok guys. The problem was vista's security. All working now.
  10. Our new gps - a colorado arrived today and what a gps. And so intuative to learn. But one problem. I have downloaded Garmin Communicator to be able to dowload one cache page at a time if I want to - new local caches being one. But it will not work. Keeps saying communicator is not installed although I have installed it. I am using vista - are there any known problems there? I see it works with firefox, I am using internet explorer. Is it communicator does not work with Explorer? An answer to this one will be very much appreciated....
  11. What amazes me with these people is they will drive to the top of a mountain to drop their trash - while a short distance away there is a FREE tip. What I would like to do is catch one of these people, follow them home. Then go and get a lorry load of crap and tip it on their front door. Bet they won't like that but would give me great joy. Oh well that is my 'victor' for the day. laughs..
  12. A decision had to be made so Colorado won. Ordering today so should have about Tuesday. Well it is my birthday this week so why not. laughs. Looking forward to playing with my new toy....
  13. What would be nice is to be able to import something like fuguwi into the garmin. I use that a lot and the maps are detailed ordnance....
  14. Thanks for that Chris. Do I assume the topo maps on the colorado do not show footpaths? I am sure you are right that the 400 is not sold in the UK. I looked and have only found the 300 for sale..
  15. The problem I have with the colorado at the moment is bad comments regarding british mapping. And what is called an 'awkward get around'. Is there any other gps that will let me go paperless with just the one unit while being able to use topo? Does Mr B have the colorado 300 or 400 Matrix?
  16. I am about to buy a new gps as my current quest keeps losing the signal. I use a tomtom to get to the trail so ordinary mapping is not needed. But I will need to use Garmin's topo. Which GPS is best? The Colorado - or - Vista HCx? Or is there something else you can recommend. It needs to be good in trees and valleys too...
  17. As promised the video made at the Muddiest assault course in the world is now online for all to see. I cannot for some reason add a link as link so you will need to cut and past - The video was made at last weekend South Wales Geocaching event that was held at Cline Farm in the Gower. Please feel free to rate the short film and to leave comment...
  18. Here is the Cache in question GCQBK0 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...=y&decrypt= It looks a very difficult one to solve so maybe the rating is too low but don't see why it should be taken off. The owner has logged in recently so although not active caching is active in interest. Why not contact the owner if concerned?
  19. The third annual South Wales event kicks off during May day bank holiday. Like last year it will be a super event - with the added addition of the event being right on the coast this year. Take a peek here to see what it is all about - and don't forget to bookmark the page to get uptodate information about added fun as it is entered. This year it is also hoped that a display by the mountain rescue will be taking place - kiddies events are being organised - a great raffle - and plenty of other entertainment. An informal BBQ is in the offing - not to mention to have fun taking part in the muddiest assault course in the country where - you guessed it - some caches will be hid. Sound like fun to you. Register your interest and get booked now so not to be dissapointed. Plenty of camping space available for those that like to camp - plenty of hotels and B&b within a reasonable distance - and holiday cottages on the site. Right next to the stunning gower coastal park this is an ideal place for a nice holiday so anyone coming from afar a three day stay would be ideal.....
  20. Only just over a week and the 2nd South Wales event kicks off. Looking at numbers there will be quite a few at Dare Valley park. Several local cachers have been hard at work to ensure visitors have a good time and to date there are seven new caches promised for the event although you can be sure more will be out by event time. One of my hobbies since being a kid has been meteorology – like a big kid I have a weather station here in Cwmparc. With that in mind I will be putting an update for Saturday 5th May and the following day on the event web page as from Sunday evening. At the moment the outlook is for dry sunny weather for both days. Clouding over on the Monday with rain on the Monday evening. It looks like Write and Mane have done a good job with their weather order))))))
  21. Less than two weeks to go to event day now. It has been very dry in South Wales with no rain so far in April meaning for camping it is very dry ground at present. Spring has arrived early with most trees and bushes already out in leaf. We will be posting a link to a detailed map showing the way into Dare valley - very useful for caravan towers - in a weeks time. To give us all an idea of numbers attending if you have not registered your interest in attending it would helpful for us (so we have an idea of numbers) to click here and say you are coming.
  22. We met up with Mollyjak and W&M today at the park to do some planning and what a fab weather day. Our contact at the park has informed us there is space for just one tent left so if you want it bag it quick. Touring caravans no problem at the moment although if you leave it much later you will be chancing it. We have updated the listing with more pics available. Visit this page.
  23. As of now there is room left on the site for 3 tent pitches and 10 tourer caravans. Only 6 weeks Saturday to the event. We will be updating the web page early April and then frequently if needed to take into account extra planning.
  24. You make them we will buy some Mollyjak)))
  25. A timely reminder to book now. Touring vans should be no problem as that site - it is next to the tent campsite - has more pitches. trailer tents can also be put up in the tourer site but the site informed me you would have to pay the tourer rate to do so. If you want to put up a trailer tent on the tourer site please inform Joanne at the Parc when you telephone.... And don't forget to visit the Web Site to say you have booked....
