I'm for Mt. St. Helens! Seeing the coverage of it erupting in 1980 was the first time I had ever seen pictures of WA state (grew up in OH). I remember staring at the tv just boggling over all those trees! That's my vote. I like all of the other choices as well, but St. Helens gets my vote for 2005.

Congrats Old Bald Eagle! 100 caches is a great milestone!
-
They all look great- don't think we can make a bad choice.

I've never used any equipment, either, and really look forward to trying Muir. My husband and I have hiked all over Rainier BK (before kids), but we never got up there. He never wanted to try it. I hope I'll be able to join in- I have a skate Marathon right around the solstice, and then one in August. I wonder how well climbing mountains and skating go together... Guess I'll find out!

I agree- altho that picture is not as pretty, but it seems more appropriate. The next could say something like : 25th Anniversary of the Mt. St. Helens Eruption

How is the design choice finally decided?

Congrats globalgirl, Blue Heron, and GeoDiver! Way to go!

Ah shucks, ain't no big thing. I'm sure it's not a record of any kind. But thanks, willcall, for nominating me for the new WA geocoin!
-
Thanks, don't get me wrong, it's a great honor to be nominated, but I really don't want to be on WA's new geocoin! Yeah! I second or third that suggestion. I was thinking about that this morning.

I'll send you some of my new sig items if you send me your address.

I really like the Mt. St. Helen's idea! Also, lahontan's avatar reminds me that something with salmon would make a good image as well. I think the Methow Valley is pretty, but not sure how it'd look on a coin...

Congrats to hydnsek on #800 today on Tango India Whiskey!

Congrats to 4chin seeker, myshoes, and nolenator on their milestones! Congrats to Engicators on their 100th find at Stellaluna today!

Why, they just might! A sewing machine? I'm intrigued... I have one, and could do basic things, but what do you have in mind? Ball gowns I can not do...

Congrats Brodiebunch and skyriverblue! Yippee! I have a sort-of milestone to report- my first ever sig items just arrived in the mail! Coming soon to a cache near you...

So... I was wondering if anything is actually going to happen?

As to the original point about the private property caches, I admit I'm a bit fuzzy on the differences between public and private. I've seen a number of caches in parking lots for businesses- private property I would guess. Should they be removed? Dunno. There's lots of other things I try to think about when I place a cache- like will this freak muggles out to see people looking around for the cache? I know others don't worry about that at all . I think micros are fun- I like the challenge of it. I also like ammo boxes in pretty places. I remember the first time I found a light post cache- I was just amazed by it. Now, of course, it's harder to come across a hide that's unique, but it's always great when I do. With ammo boxes, it's more about the location than the hide. And puzzle caches are usually about the fun of figuring out the coords more than the cache itself. Sure, I've run across some caches that were lame or gross or boring, but at least I was outside and not stuck indoors somewhere. But now I also admit that it's been a while since I read the guidelines and will go back and look at them again today. I'm still learning as a cacher and I hope that my hides will continue to improve. It's a lot of fun to hunt caches, but there's something special about reading a log from a cache that you've placed.

ROTFLOL!I'm sure that's *just* what we all look like!

Ooh- this sounds promising- I turned down the chance to climb Adams when I was younger- guess I thought I'd be in great shape forever...

Sounds like something fun our whole family could do.

Stupid question from someone with a GPSr I know, but where's Gorst?

Fun fun fun! Ok, maybe I'm a little sore... Thanks again to my ever tolerant husband for making room in his schedule to cover some kid picking up and dropping off so I could make it on the hike. It was my first big mountain caching hike. I hope it will be the first of many! Since the girls came along we don't do the longer hike, elevation gain stuff very often anymore. We had never even hiked at Squak- so it was a double first for me. Had great fun chatting with everyone and enjoyed hiking with Chester the canine cacher. Hope we'll do this again some time!
