  1. Would these have websites clearly linking the site ad Romanesque? Having been built in the time period is not sufficient.
  2. Here is the category write up I'm proposing. http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=f8f71bae-0e25-42e2-b6d3-051ca4319640&gid=6&exp=True The floor is open for comments, criticisms.
  3. In fact, I see this as rounding out the existing categories regarding Gothic and Renaissance architecture, of which the same criticism can be made. I would try to sell it that way.
  4. Just a couple of notes : I think that 1) Neo Romanesque should be excluded from this category. 2) In order to clearly identify that the structure is Romanesque written material indicating that the building is Romanesque must be included. This can be a ) A photo of an informational panel, or guidebook entry or other document b ) A link to a website Any thoughts?
  5. Having a terrible time in France today uploading photos. During "normal" periods it's not fast but tonight it just keeps waiting for the server. Very frustrating!
  6. I guess most of you know I am the leader now. Thank you to the officer with the brilliant idwa. I will start thinking about how to complete the category.
  7. I am actually a member of that group. If I could just become the leader, than I wouldn't have to start over from scratch. There is already a category under construction.
  8. I see there is a vote to demote the leader of the existing category. If it is successful, I'm wondering who the new leader will end up being.
  9. This is a continuation of this thread . I am attempting to jump start a Romanesque Architecture category and am looking for interested officers. Do let me know if you are interested in helping to manage such a category. - RitC
  10. The problem is that in France, the next smaller subdivision is the department (which I don't think has been reorganized since Napoleon - someone correct me if I'm wrong). However, I think for many in France, the department is not sufficient to give a clear picture on the general location of the waymark. There are so many departments that many (like me) can't associate all departments with their general location. When looking at lists of waymarks, being able to focus on the region will allow you to know very quickly in which sector of the country it is located.
  11. In 2016, France restructured its regions going from 22 to 13. The values that are given from France for State/Province in the Waymarking interface are now obsolete. Shouldn't we update them? Is there a way to make a wholesale remapping of existing waymarks? How easy is it to make such updates? I thought I would just bring up the subject.
  12. Ok, then maybe this category should accept only truly Medieval Romanesque buildings.
  13. ah ha! I never knew about that. I just tried it and let's see what happens.
  14. Actually as I read it, it specifies only Richardsonian Romanesque which presumably excludes any other kind of Romanesque revival. Could be a door into broadening an exclusively Romanesque category.
  15. How would I send him a message via the forum? I wasn't aware you could send individual messages via the forum. Oh wait, do you mean clicking on the name which brings you to the geocaching profile page? So actually I would be sending a geocaching e-mail? In that case, I do believe I have tried before. I could try again.
  16. I thought I would bring this to the community. I am very interested in getting a Romanesque architecture category published. A group was already formed a long time ago by Dorcadian Team but the category was never finished. I have tried contacting him several times to try and push this along, with no response now (although I see he does log in from time to time). In my last e-mail I suggested he promote me to leader in order to be able to finish the category. But once again no response. What should I do, create a new group and start over? Thanks for your thoughts. RitC.
  17. That Waymark was posted over a decade ago (Wow has if been that long ago, and we keep on ticking!). What I can think of is the restriction was added to the category shortly after and probably as a result of that submission. I think it is the only case.
  18. I believe that on-line translators are adequate for understanding what has been written but are still insufficient for creating a decent description. Again, imposing no particular language restriction would seem to me to be the best solution.
  19. Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I'm not suggesting that you limit the category to English. I'm rather saying to not impose the use of any particular language.
  20. Sorry to come late to this discussion. I was prompted to due to the category vote and have not been following this thread until now. First let me say that this category has been a missing piece of the European national heritage puzzle for a long time and I thank Michaelfiles for taking this initiative. I see a lot of time has already been spent working on this category, but I have to agree with fi67. It would be a real pity if non French, German, Flemish/Dutch speaking tourists were not able to enjoy and take advantage of this category. I do not want to vote "no" for the category but I have strong reservations on this point. Maybe I will abstain. For my category Monuments Historiques I have no particular language requirement, meaning people can post in any language or multiple ones as they wish. (google translate can do a pretty good job these days by the way when judging submissions in a language one doesn't understand). This approach has worked well for me.
  21. In the category description is read Lists covered by the database are: the World Heritage List, places that are of outstanding universal value and have been included on this United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) managed list. the National Heritage List, a long list of natural, historic and Indigenous places that are of outstanding national heritage value to the Australian nation. the Commonwealth Heritage List, a list of natural, historic and Indigenous places of heritage significance owned or controlled by the Australian Government. the Register of the National Estate, a list of natural, historic and Indigenous heritage places throughout Australia, frozen in February 2007 until it was replaced by other heritage lists in 2012. Lise of Overseas places is missing. I'm not sure why it's necessary to break out these lists in the description. Why not simplify the requirement as anything in the Australian Heritage Database?
