  1. Folks, I think that you are violating a copyright by cutting and pasting that story without permission. This could turn a good story about geocaching into an example of how geocachers ignore ownership of intellectual property. I think a good move would be to delete the post with the quote in it before it gets Groundspeak in trouble and makes geocachers look bad. - T of TandS
  2. The winds and the currents are tough in this area. 13 miles one-way in a kayak going downriver with a current helping you is a good day's trip. 26 miles? With a possible adverse current both ways? With clocking winds? There's no way this is a safe day trip in a kayak unless you're an expert and are extremely lucky. However... S is from Surfside Beach. We'll be there tons this Summer. And last but not least, I'm an extreme mooch! We'll be there in 2 weeks, but won't have time. However, I'll try to contact my friends there and see if any of them'll do the run for gas, which is extremely likely. That's a fun run in a boat with a motor. - T of TandS
  3. Great Job! I love Instructables almost as much as Geocaching. Ultra ultra cool dude! - T of TandS
  4. When our 60CS got 're-owned' over Christmas, we didn't stop caching. www.flashearth.com and other sites, as well as a compass, make caching without a GPSR nearly trivial. Our sureness about cache locations actually went up. - T of TandS
  5. From an adjacent thread: http://www.scs-mall.com/tick-removers/prod...p?number=PTRC2M I'm getting one of these. - T of TandS
  6. I can't let a thread get this big without posting in it. That is all. - T of TandS
  7. No sucking up here, just a big thanks to El D for his scheming with Jon of Jon and Miki behind our backs to give us one of the hiking sticks that was 'sposed to go to them. We miss Jon so much, but we'll always have our 'grey poupon' of a hiking stick to both enjoy and remind of us how evil Jon was which we already knew but also that a certain El D can be a devil! - T of TandS
  8. With great sadness we found out that Jon Barry passed away today. The South Carolina Geocaching community is in a state of shock and grief at this profound loss. Please keep Jon's family in your thoughts and prayers. His adopted Geocaching Family has lost its father. - T of TandS
  9. To me this sounds fair. And it doesn't sound like parasitism at all. All the kid has to do for another cookie is hold his services ransom. Or, years down the road, if mom and dad won't lend the car, tell them he never 'really' signed their name in the log. That'll fix em. - T of TandS
  10. Snoogans! Yes, it was absolutely you who was the object of my affectionate intimation!!!! -T of TandS
  11. Look at these finders (Isn't that another meaning of founder?) in their goofy pants signing the log. Talk about a mass FTF yet the log said they found it 'Independently.' At least the prize was first-rate. I heard that Hancock dude really used up a ton of the log with his handle. - T of TandS
  12. Post reading instructions for non ADD folk: click the link and see how many puzzle caches by clemsonbeav appear then check them out, nice! - T of TandS
  13. My favorite fun with sats is: www.flashearth.com unreal! - T of TandS
  14. Props to clemsonbeav. Even a Gamecock like me has to jump up and down pointing at the wicked mass nukular hide of 'not brainbusers?', yeah right, caches by this uppity challenger to the evil throne: Hide and Seek and other such stuff - T of TandS
  15. I like the previously suggested 'hoard' followed by 'confusion' - T of TandS
  16. I forgot about S. Even if we disagree initially, I eventually get my head out of from where the sun don't shine and realize S is right. - T of TandS
  17. Man, I lived in York, then Hickory Grove 20 something years ago. I lived off Sawmill Rd. That's sure the sticks. I sure miss it. It was great to live in the 'suburbs' of a town with a sign proving the population was 250. I'd sure live there now and geocache with you if I could! - T of TandS
  18. I beg S to drive by a cache location just so I can log a DNF... - T of TandS
  19. Just to note: CR is the same person as Coyote Red. And he's on our list which also includes Geoholic28 and Carleenp. Also you have to include Sissy if you include Coyote Red cuz she's his personal moderator. T of TandS
  20. 'Lame Cache' Definition: An often excellent cache having unusual aspects which serve to accurately identify geocachers with a poor or whiny attitude. This allows easygoing geocache hiders with a list of cachers whose ill-natured logs can be ignored. Any hider with more than a few caches hidden has at least one that's been called both lame by some and great by others. - T of TandS
  21. You guys have local 'cache groups' with 'leaders'? Huh? So sorry for you. We are happily anarchistic but any 'leaders' we have are untitled folks who welcome and encourage any and all activity and initiative in the area's new cachers. - T of TandS
  22. One thought is that this would be just too easy for any GeoDogs out there to find! - T of TandS
  23. Around here anything like an animal tail would soon be just a tale. Critters outnumber muggles 10 to 1 where cache destruction is concerned. Any squirrel with a lick of common sense would snatch up that tail right away for a new squirrel sofa back at the nest. - T of TandS
  24. It's locked up right now it seems. But if you get up early, 5AM EST or thereabouts, looking for FTF chances every day like I do you'll find that they do backup and database maintenance every day at that time. - T of TandS
  25. It's all Jon and Miki and no me. I just hope I get to meet all the other nominees one day! - T of TandS
