  1. We have confirmed that Apple has been blocking email delivery from signal.Groundspeak.com because it has triggered their spam monitors. For now we have started routing emails for the affected domains (mac.com, icloud.com, me.com) to signal2.Groundspeak.com and those emails are currently being delivered.

Our IT team is following up with Apple.

    Domo again!!!

AND, has anything changed since then?

Can we return back to using our Apple-related mail addresses again?

Has anyone tried going back to the Apple-related mail address? How did id go?

Any update, even if no update, would be welcome.

    Thanks!

  2. Domo!!!

Since getting close to the 3 month Event Cache posting start time, I was wondering when will this year 2015's "International Cache In Trash Out Weekend" be held?

BTW, FYI, 2015 Earth Week is of April 18th – 25th, Earth Day is on the 22rd.

AND, I do have plans to organize my 3rd annual CITO Event in conjunction with a larger cleanup event on April 25th (Sat).

SO, really hoping the International Cache In Trash Out Weekend would be on the April 25th (Sat) & 26th (Sun) weekend.

And also wondering if there will be another special CITO 2015 Souvenir awarded to those who have participated, like in the past 2 years. I really hope so.

    Any updates?

    That's fantastic news, thanks :D

There are happy cachers on the Facebook group that I admin as they are getting their mails again!

Unfortunately I'm not... so I've got to figure out what setting I've messed with

However, it's late in the UK so I'm off to bed, that can wait until tomorrow!

Thanks again, relieved it's being sorted

To confirm, does this mean that if I switch back to my @me.com address as 'default' in my geocaching account settings now, I will immediately start receiving geocaching.com messages like before again?

So, domain signal.Groundspeak.com (mainly IP address 66.150.167.157) is blocked by Apple, but signal2.Groundspeak.com (different IP address, I presume) is NOT blocked?

How about the other IP addresses Geocaching.com uses? Are these blocked as well, or not?

    66.150.167.158

    66.150.167.160

    66.150.167.161

OR, should I just keep using my backup gmail account until we get the notice that the blockage all gone...

    Awesome!

    Thanks Moun10Bike!

Look forward to hearing of the final confirmation of the blockage being fixed.

  5. Right! I've spent some time on the phone to Apple today over this issue and have been dealing with a lovely Senior Tech lady. It does seem that noreply@geocaching.com (or the associated IP address(es)) has almost certainly been added to an Apple blocklist, therefore emails from that address to any Apple email accounts (@icloud.com, @me.com etc) will bounce back.

There is nothing we can do on our own accounts or devices to fix this, Apple need to lift the block.

This has been elevated for the techy people at Apple to look at although they're dealing with a backlog from Christmas so it may take a couple of days. The lady that I've been dealing with has promised to ring me back with an update when she has one.

In the meantime she suggests that people should contact Apple if they are affected... the more people report it, the better, basically. The thread over on the Apple forums which has been linked to here has been helpful in flagging up the issue as the Apple people can read it (although they can't reply).

So, if you are affected, please post that both here and on the thread in the Apple Forums. In addition, please go ahead and contact Groundspeak directly via the contact link on the bottom of the homepage so that they realise how widespread the issue is. Although it's not Groundspeak's "fault", it would be nice if they tried to fix it!

Most importantly, please contact Apple. It's free from landlines in the UK... 0800 1076285

You'll need to explain that you are having this known issue, they have an internal thread about it on their forums, or you could point them at the apple forum thread HERE. It will obviously take time for all the staff on the phones to become aware of the problem, so please be patient but insistent

I must say thanks to the contributors to this thread and over on the Apple forum, it's helped to tie everything together to figure out what's going on, lets hope we can sort it!

Thanks KaosCL for the somewhat encouraging update. (I am also following my post at Apple forum)

And also thanks to those who have contributed information about this problem.

If you know anyone else with the same problem, please lead them to this forum and the Apple forum, and have them post as well.

Also, clicking the "I have this question too" link right below my original post at Apple forum, should increase the level of severity, hence letting Apple know there is a major problem here to fix ASAP.

I will also try contacting Groundspeak AND Apple more directly, and at least raise the awareness of this issue.

Yet, I really wish Groundspeak contacts Apple directly to resolve this.

    Fix please!

  6. As noted above, it may be important that you supply them with the specific IP address of the geocaching.com server in order for them to track this down. I note that you did not supply them with that in your post over at discussions.apple.com

    Thanks ecanderson.

Your information has been posted to the Apple forum as well.

Also, I think in addition to the @me.com messages, @mac.com and @icloud.com addresses might also be affected as well.

    But, cannot confirm this. Anyone?

I also have changed to my backup gmail address, and now getting messages from geocaching.com.

  7. Domo!!!

I have been experiencing the same problem with my primary Geocaching email account that ends with "@me.com".

Checking what I have received the last was on 2015/01/09 22:48 EST, from Geocaching <noreply@geocaching.com>, and nothing after this until now & continuing, including a few Found Logs for caches I am 'Watching'.

I will post in the Apple Support forum, and see if any reaction from Apple.

    (Edit: Time zone...)

  8. Yes, that change was intentional. Why? Because the design team wanted to declutter and simplify the account settings. Many of the changes and removals you have seen so far may be "painful" for certain individuals, but they are laying the foundation for an upcoming significant feature that is under development that will replace the /my page entirely. There will always be growing pains when it comes to making changes to familiar and comfortable elements. Unfortunately, such change is necessary in order for the site to evolve and adapt.

And therein (the bolded part) lies the problem with most of the changes over the last several releases. What about what your customers want?

    +1

  9. Maybe it's problem of Gmail, or some bug of last release, but why, when were all messages from Groundspeak pushed into HTML form, there are not converted these BBCode things? We don't have option for plain text mails, but at same time these mails are not in full HTML, what sounds weird.

No Plain-Text email option, forced HTML messages although not BBCode compatible?

Still unbelievably & unacceptably "half-baked" situation, really.

No new release that fixed ALL these?

    PLEASE, Plain-Text option! Please!

(How hard is this, truly? And why is it taking sooooo long. You had Plain-Text before...)

  10.

just struggled over an email that I received from another member. Previously it was a standard text message and was perfect.

Now I get an HTML formatted email! Why.

Can I stop this? I don't like the overhead. Also reading on a mobile device, text messages are smarter to handle.

    TIA

    Martin

I dislike the HTML mail as well, also like many others.

BTW, I usually change the mail from Rich Text to Plain Text when I reply.

  11. We don't have plans to provide a plain text option at this time, but I will be sure to bubble up your concerns.

    Oh, dear...

    What a disappointment...

Just put back what you took way.

Much easier than trying to fix something that wasn't broken, then trying to fix even more what you've broke.

    Plain text email, or bust.

  12. Domo!!!

While the iron is still hot, can I ask for a bit more for the email 'upgrade'?

I would like to have the "distance from home location" added to the content. And of course, in the user-selected units, or have it in both SI & Imperial units. I know that this is included in the "Instant Notification" emails even now. I would like to see it in ALL Geocache emails: Watchlists & Bookmarks, etc.

And Yes, it would be even nicer to have this sent in the user-selected email format, Plain text or HTML. (Never multi-part emails, please.)

    Thanks!
