The Upper-Right counter is following the finds correctly, but others (Your Profile, public Profile, Stats Bar etc) seem off.

- Logs in any other Language would still be Logs
Log a geocache or the journeys of a Travel Bug® in any language you'd like. Geocaching is adding support for double-byte characters,also known as Unicode,to cache logs and trackable logs. It's now a snap to write logs in Japanese, "私はジオキャッシング大好" or Arabic أنا أحب غيوكاشينغ or Hebrew אני אוהב את הסרבית. (They all translate to, "I love geocaching.") The update won't be immediate however.This is TRULY phenomenal! Unicode as last! Bye-bye HTML Entity! Direct Japanese, or any other double-byte language logging!

Great news for those who use Double-Byte languages!
As in the forum Geocaching.com and Geocaching Live API Downtime, after Tuesday, March 5th at 8pm PST (GMT -8) when the site comes back online, you will be able to type your logs in your native language directly, without using the HTML Entity encoding. Geocaching web site is finally upgrading to the Unicode standard, opening the door of Geocaching to even more people around the world!
Awesome improvement!

日本語キャッシャー（ＧＢ）たちへ朗報です！
今朝の日本スーベニアの公開は、今年が日本のジオキャッシングにとって特別な年になることを示す挨拶の花火なのでしょうか。。。
本フォーラム：Geocaching.com and Geocaching Live API Downtimeにて発表がありましたが、Tuesday, March 5th at 8pm PST (GMT -8)に、長年の願いであった、「ログへの日本語直接入力」が可能になります！
もうHTMLエンティティーによる面倒くさい変換は、必要で無くなり、心置きなく日本語で、あなたのジオキャッシング体験を皆と共有できます。現代的なUnicode文字体系に対応することにより、ジオキャッシングがやっと国際化に追いついたと言う事でしょうけど、2-Byte言語を用いる世界中のキャッシャーにとって非常に喜ばしいことは間違いありません。
何かもう一つ吉報が有ったと思うんだけど、なんだっけなぁー。。。

I just posted in another thread "Oregon x50 Software Version 6.00" about my experience, and also importantly how I fixed my 'Lock Up'.
Also posted within a thread at "Garmin Oregon GPS Wiki by GPSFix".
Basically,
"Delete the /Garmin/GPX folder from the handheld's mass storage.
Update the handheld's software via WebUpdater and reboot the handheld.
Reconnect the handheld to a computer and transfer your data back to the handheld."

I did post in a thread at "Garmin Oregon GPS Wiki by GPSFix".
I updated my Oregon 400 from 5.90 to 6.0 twice, once from WebUpdater, and once manually.
Not Good at all!
No Geocaching descriptions/hints, and a hang...
Disappointing.
Reverted back to 5.90, manually, and all is back to normal.
Then, another user posted:
"It has been quite a while since I upgraded and I think I had this problem. If so what I did was to clear out all cache files on the device to allow the Oregon to load empty. I then returned them and all was fine and has been for the last couple of months."
I haven't tried this yet, though plan to do so today.
I will update my results here.

Hey!
It worked! All Geocache info (description & hint, etc.) and waypoints are viewable as before.
I just followed what was said in the WebUpdater, only that I was doing 5.90 to 6.0, sort of.

日本語表示がオカシイです！！！（と言うか全ての２ビット文字が）
たった今、日本iTunesのページを見ましたところ、目を疑うような投稿がありました。
「バージョンアップしたらHTML変換文字は変換されずに表示される。」
自己確認で確か日本語のログが皆数字だけとなって表示されています。

一両日中に発表されるバージョン5.0.1におきまして、日本語の誤表示は修正されているはずです。（ベータ版にて確認済）
また、所々日本語訳の微修正も加えました。
暫しお待ち下さい。

Were all the Smilies in the logs showing as brackets before? Like [ : ) ] or
?They are now all showing as plain text in the logs, not as the Smilies icons.

BTW, you can just check ALL my Found logs, as I always post a note about my signature Good Luck 5-Yen "Go-En" 五円 coin I try to drop in whatever cache it fits.
On the web, you should be able to see both 五円 and ご縁 characters.
But in the new version 5.0, they are displayed as just numbers, stripped of their HTML Encoding pre- & post-fix as I mentioned above.
Weird.
Time to really move on to Unicode / UTF8 system if you (Groundspeak) are thinking hard enough to globalize Geocaching today.

Interestingly, the "Description" parts ARE displayed in the proper Japanese characters. Not affected by this bug.
Obviously, this part is written in HTML though not needed to be HTML Encoded, so they shouldn't be affected, I guess.
So, this BUG is "only" for the logs, BUT it's ALL the logs...

Can you give me the GC Code of the cache you were viewing the logs for
Domo!!!
Try this one: GC2WBG5
But it doesn't matter. ALL logs that has 2-bit characters HTML Encoded are showing just the numbers, not the proper characters.
I don't think this is just the Japanese not showing properly. ALL 2-bit languages translated into must be doing the same.
Need a VERY HOT FIX!

I want to delete it and back to older version.

Just noticed while checking the Japanese iTunes' page, and found a review saying the same:
"After update, all HTML Encoded logs are shown uncoded."
I checked for myself, and oh oh...
Seems like the new 5.0 App is stripping all the 2-bit characters' HTML Encoding 'prefix' and 'post-fix' like

今一番欲しい機能は、やはり日本語ログの作成機能ですね。
Field Noteを使わなくてもそのままログが送信できるのは大変有り難い機能です。
AndroidのGCアプリ c:geo でも普通に搭載されている機能（しかも c:geoはフリーです）ですから、是非実現をお願いします。

やっぱりログが日本語で入力できるようになると嬉しいです！

やはり日本語でのログ入力ができると嬉しいです（現状でも、不得手な英語の練習の機会になるので、悪くはないのですが）。

追加機能、改善点としては、
１．日本語でlogが書けて送信できて、文字化けしないこと
これは私も皆さんに大賛成！ ウー、何とかしてくれ～、ＧＳ (親会社Groundspeak)！
私も是が非でも取り入れて欲しい機能です。
Geocaching.com上ではまだ日本語をHTML Entityへ変換して投稿しないといけないのですが、（是非修正して頂きたい！いつの時代だ？？？）App上で自動的に変換してから投稿してくれれば取りあえずは良さそうですね。
これに関してはApp自体に大幅な変更をしないといけないので、私からはあくまでＧＳに「提案」するしか出来ません。
「機能追加・変更願い」なる [Feature Request] の形で投稿するのが良いでしょう。
当方Android携帯を持って居ないのでGCアプリ c:geoを使ってみることが出来ません、残念ながら。またAndroidのGeocaching Appも使った事がありません。悪しからず。
多少関連するのですが、無料のGeocaching INTRO iPhone Appの翻訳自体がGroundspeakのプロジェクトとして今の所ないそうなのですが、私の日本語訳ボランティア／ベータ・テスターの繋がりで、これも翻訳するよう「上に」要請を出しています。膨大なGeocaching.comの翻訳作業も含め、可能な限り敷居を低くして、出来るだけ多くの日本人にメッチャはまる素晴らしいジオキャッシングの世界へと導きたいと思っております。
私は「検索」⇒「近くのキャッシュを探す」⇒（地図のボタン）で地図を開き、その地図をスクロールして、「検索」⇒「地図の中心を起点に検索」で、目的の場所（「近く」ではない）のキャッシュを調べることが多いのですが、このとき「近くのキャッシュを探す」で検索されるキャッシュの情報は要らないことが多々あります。
したがって、「検索」に、キャッシュを検索せずに直接Google Mapを表示する機能をつけてほしいです。
「検索」の最初の画面に「地図で開く」のボタンはあるのですが、このボタンで開く地図では、「地図の中心を起点に検索」ができません。
何となくされたいことは解りました。
これに関しては、Geocaching iPhone App 自体の機能の仕方を変えるものなので、

これも上のように「機能追加・変更願い」なる [Feature Request] の形で投稿するのが良いでしょう。
とは言うものの、やはりちょっと敷居が高いですよね・・・。
yuki1975さんのような具体的な機能改善案がございましたら、それらも是非この板に「日本語」で投稿下さい。
可能な限り私がその案を英語訳して、[Feature Request] の形でフォーラムに代理投稿しようかとも考えています。
ただし、どこまで皆さんのご希望伝達の助けが出来るか、またさらにはそれらの案が実際に受けいられるのかは、あくまでGroundspeak社の方々のお考えによることをご了承下さい。悪しからず。
その他、環境設定の「発見済みキャッシュ」には、今は「自分のキャッシュ」も含まれているので、
自分のキャッシュは独立した形で見れるようになるといいと思います。
（未発見＋自分のキャッシュと言う表示も出来るといいです）
これに関しては、ホームページ上でも同じ結果になってるので問い合わせた記憶がございます。
返事は、「そういうものだ。」と言うようなことだったと思います、残念ですが。
１つの方法として私は、自分のキャッシュだけと選んで、「保存済リスト」を作っております。参考までに。
あとは、画面の下の方に並んでいる、「検索」「保存済」「ログ」「トラッカブル」のボタンが、自分は誤って押してしまうことが多いかなと思います。
うーむ、これはどうしたものですかね・・・？
「オンライン」と表示されている右下の緑のボッチをよそに移して、その分下のボタンを広げる・・・？
難しいですね。
追加機能、改善点としては、
…
２．初期画面から「近くのcacheを探す」>「地図を開く(cacheを検索せず、地図のみ表示)」を追加
３．地図にcacheが表示されている画面で、cacheを選択した時、cache名が長いと「>」マークが画面から飛び出て選択できないので、改善して欲しい
４．地図表示時に知らない間に下の「検索」以外を押してしまってます。
５．任意のcacheの「メモ帳」や「地点登録(名前:FINAL、座標)」にweb上等からデータを送信出来ると、嬉しい
(ミステリー等を解いたあと、FINALの情報をPCから送信をイメージしています)
２．確かに使えそうな機能ですね。。。
３．気づきませんでした。可能ならば具体的に幾つかのキャッシュ番号を教えて下さい。確認してみます。
４．前出 bun34さんと同じですね。どうしたものでしょう。。。
５．これも確かに便利そうではありますね、ウェブ上の情報と随時上手く連動／同期できると。
沢山のそして色々な情報／提案、ありがとうございます。
より良い日本語アプリにするべく、大いに利用させて頂きます。
