It's a bit of both for me... and you do get "Precious" about your own caches, I have a series based around an old railway line that almost always has good logs - well part from one near a really boggy spot. I'm really chuffed about those.
I have others that are far simpler, one under a huge historic railway bridge, joining Cornwall to England that many seem to enjoy finding - yet I always have an evil cackle when some from over the Tamar can't find it! Such simple pleasures....

too many TLAs MRS B?
Terry Wogan Fan Club Members - Terry's Old Gits or TOGs for short.
My Dad told me about them, I wouldn't listen to Radio 2, I'm with it and stuff.. ummm yep.. Classic FM rules!
-
OMG Mrs B's a TOG!

I think it's fine - at least as long as you have a dadgum good go at finding the cache first.

Wife swapping caches - Cool.....

Nooo - as if I'd even think of it... Bodmin Moor is very nice though, a mini Dartmoor almost... some letterboxes even and some oh you know, those other hidden things... some of which are mine!
-
Ohhh I guess you'll be doing my "Right side of the Tamar" cache then! The one that other Devonian cacher couldn't find!
Good luck...

When you're editing your message - click on the http:// button and it asks for two items of information.
Firstly the http:// link you want the link to go to
Secondly the name of that link that will be shown on the page
Although thats linked to
it only displays - America in Cornwall

I see nobodys done St Herberts Island Cacheyet.
You should try it, it's supposed to be really good...
I would but it's a bit of a drive to get a first to find... Though at one time I used to live between Newby Bridge and Windermere..

Maybe by asking for advice about one? Is XCPR1J graded correctly? What do you think of that last log?
Or dropping in a cache name (XCQ1BX) when discussing a related (if only very slightly related!) topic.
Obviously I've changed the real cache names in these examples.
I'm sure others will be able to think of other devious ways to advertise their caches.

There's always the webcam cache possibility. I know of a few underwater ones including Lundy and Loch Ness or on the Devon shipwreck HMS Scylla.
Might make a different 5 star one?
Shesshhhhh you Devonians - Whitsand Bay and HMS Scylla are in Cornish Terretorial Waters! A gorgeous place I can understand you wanting it in Devon but it's Ours!!!

I tend to use Babelfish
Though I find
Dict.cc to be good as a online Dictionary
The best tool of all though - is a real live German speaker, as often knowing which German word to search for is the real secret, often or occassionaly anyway, there maybe a German word with no direct English translation.

If were not talking a needing Sub Aqua gear to find type cache. it strikes my mind and indeed I've though of just such a thing, is that actually hiding the cache could be a bit of a problem, it it was anchored to the bank then the rope would be visible.
My tentative plan was to use a metal container with a waterproof plastic one inside and just throw this to the bottom of a pond. The actual coordinates of the cache would be for a secondary box with a magnet on a string/rope and any other equipment required.
I was looking at a rather small "pond" so as not to give too much away - a different approach would be required in Derwent Water!

ok folks, my virtual is not that difficult and you all know the answer from your kindergarden. I'm very sure that everyone that finds the answer to my cache in this Silly thread is smart enough to find the answer even without this thread. We now should extend this exercise to all of our caches. Since we're that smart, we would have found them anyway. Simply post all needed information to find your own caches both in this thread and in your log to Four Windows.
best regards,
Faxenmacher
PS: please remember, this is just a game. I don't mind how you find your answer to Four Windows, I'm just amazed to get mails from all over the world. Please keep on logging!
Hi Faxenmacher..
I found the colour of the bear riddle the easy bit - however workign out the coordinates of the North Pole really made me think about how the whole GPS system works. So I learnt a lot by doing your cache.
-
Well I for one would offer an extra clue. I usually have a photo or two tucked away for people who've looked once and not found it.
I'd follow Simply Pauls advice and ask a previous finder for a clue.
Good luck anyway - once you've found a few it gets easier

And if that ones whetted your appetite, theres a few more simlar ones here..

Most of these armchair caches seem to be Germanic. Don't they like going out into the wilds?
First time I've come across these, but they look quite interesting. I think I'll save them for a dark and stormy night!
Despite hunting more or less World wide - it appears it's mainly the Germans who go for these "ArmChair" caches in any number - with just an odd one in The Netherlands and other places.
That said if anyone knows of any others elsewhere I'd love to hear about them.

I have to say - that was rather good fun - Thanks
