  1. Found my first two caches today! Good job me! LOL. However, these were after two hours spent looking for my first. Had to quit after my cell battery was going dead. Note to self: Bring Car Charger. Putting triple anti-bacterial on all the scratches. Second note to self: Don't Wear Ankle Socks When Geocaching. Back hurts from constantly bending over tying shoes after thorns grabbed them. Third note to self: Double Tie Shoelaces. Could not eat my snacks, due to filthy hands digging around for that @#*$ #&%^ first cache, that I never did find. Final note to self: Bring Wet Wipes.

Overall, a productive day (I think). Just Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred, Ninety-Eight to go until I reach 1,000!

welcome to the family, best of luck

  2. First of all, I want to thank each and every one of our new geocache family for all their prayers, thoughts and well wishes.

Stuart loved spending time with his wife, me, doing many activities together, from fishing to rock hounding, football games to Nascar and then Geocaching, which was becoming a wonderful new joy for us. We were getting pretty smug about our finds. Lol

The time we had together was precious and meaningful. We loved each other very much and even if we were just sitting around the house, we were happy. I will always and forever love him. He gave me a wonderful life filled with adventures, four more daughters and a future I thank god for allowing me to become his wife.

It was a tragic accident no fault to anyone. He had climbed around Dish man Mica hills since he was young. He was a very skilled athletic type of a man, the scout master that he was. Stu knew what he was doing.

In loving memories of My love Stuart

    Sincerely,

    Kelly Anderson.

Thanks it is very comforting to have all the well wishes

  3. Mrs. Anderson,

I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your husband. I think I can speak for most of us when I say that we, the geocaching community, felt a real sense of loss of a friend and family member at his passing while engaging in the sport we all love and enjoy.

My family's thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this upcoming Christmas season. I'm sure it will be difficult, but you sound as if you have a strong family and know in the Truth of the season. Take heart that we are thinking and praying for you.

    God Bless,

    Robert (Harwell5)

    thank you and god bless

Kelly, I have been following the other thread about that unfortunate accident, and I must say that my pain goes out to you! You have been most graceful in responding to the messages, and I am very pleased that you have chosen to look at the side with the happy memories rather than the side with the pain. You seem to me to be a very rare human being who knew a love that some of us have never, and may never, know.

thank you and may you have a very merry christmas

First and formost we want to offer our heart felt condolences to Kelly and the entire Anderson family over Stuarts untimely departure from our lives. Althought we had not as yet had a chance to meet any of the Anderson caching family we feel as if they are a part of our everyday lives and have great admiration and respect for all of them.

As owners of the geocache that Stuart Anderson was seeking at the time of his death we were absolutely devistated at hearing of such a tradgic loss and feel great sorrow and grieve to this day over the whole geocaching communities loss of a friend .

We have taken a seroius look at all of our geocache placements and do not want this type of tragedy to ever happen again to anyone at any geocache site. In a way Stuart himself has revived our love of this game and the great group of people who participate in it .

We feel he would want us to carry on with his spirit for adventure and love of life in the outdoors that lead to him joining the geocache community for which he will forever be a member in our hearts .

Thank you for acknowledging the hide and I appreciate your condolences.

  10. Stuart Anderson Memorial Fund

All donations made through this page will be forwarded to the Spokane Teachers Credit Union Stuart Anderson Memorial Fund: http://www.cache-advance.com/SAMF.asp

We have been in touch with the Anderson family to share our condolences regarding Stuart's tragic accident while geocaching in the Spokane Dishman Hills Natural Area. We know that many more in the geocaching community would like to do so as well.

You can make a direct deposit to the Memorial Fund by coming into any of the Spokane Teachers Credit Union branches and doing a credit or debit card transaction at a teller window.

However, we are a world wide community; so, in partnership with the Inland Empire Geocaching Chapter we are offering an on-line collection place of donation funds for those outside of the Spokane area.

Here is a message from the family of Stuart Anderson to the geocaching community:

While we as a family are trying to cope with this tragedy, it is comforting to know that people who we have never met are sharing in our loss. Even though Stu was quite new to caching he had instantly fallen in love with it. It allowed him to put his love for the outdoors, adventure, and searching for the unknown all into one activity.

I have been told that he and his wife, Kelly, used the handle k123anderson when searching for caches. We have already set up a memorial fund in his honor. It is with Spokane Teachers Credit Union and is the Stuart Anderson Memorial Fund. We will be using donations to help with the costs associated with his memorial service and the expenses that go along with that. We have also started discussing, since he is to be cremated, that where we spread his ashes we would also like to place a plaque in memory of how great a man he is.

On a side note, I am sure that Stu would not want this event to have a negative affect on how any one views geo-caching. There is risk involved in just about everything we do in life, and this was just a tragic accident. We never know how short life can be, so use this as motivation to get out and do what you love as often as you can.

Once again I would like to express my gratitude to you and the geo-caching community.

    Kyle Lewis

    Son-in-Law

If you decide to make a donation, you will be able to set whatever amount you desire to go to the Memorial Fund.

Cross-posted in the NW forum too

thanks to all, for your support and prayers

  11. I don't often post here but sorry to hear of the loss. Like others I have probably pushed past what is sensible at the time but survived. But I would hate to hear someone had died attempting one of mine.

If someone is in contact with the family please add my condolences from Australia to someone I never knew, but who shared the same passion for getting out there and exploring to find a lunchbox on the side of a cliff. Let them know I might be half a world away but I feel for them.

This is my first attemp to talk, my name is Kelly the wife of Stuart Anderson we just got started on this new adventure when He was so suddenly taken from me. We spent all our time together doing what we love doing, spending time together. We enjoyed eachother and had several adventures. We were very happy and love each other.

  12. We are quite new to caching. this is my first attempt to post. Obsiously, I don't know what I'm doing!! Isn't this a "game" just for fun? The cachers here in Spokane must be a great bunch, since they have been most helpful thru eMails, etc. I look forward to learning more about the "forums", and will do all I can to avoid any conflict. There is enough of that in the "real world". Nice to meet everyone online, anyway!!! Thanks for this opportunity for me to try to get my feet wet!!!
