  1. This sounds good Paul.....fuel is cheaper abroad....i could Drive there....will do some maths and get back on this.. mmmmmm....1058 miles....@16 hours drive.....with my cachemobile @45 Gallons.....@£200 plus ferry....i can fit 5 in no problem.....that works out @£40 PP plus ferry..........i will seriously think about this.....will come back to this
  2. I am sorry to say that this is a all to common thing....Most of my coins have gone AWOL....TBs go AWOL every now and then but unlike a coin,do sometimes turn up.I have personally picked up a TB that had been missing for over a year!...much to the owners delight. All i can say is email her again..look back at log reports to see if she cached with any one else..if so then email them.In the mean time, you can always release a duplicate..same tracking number...then if the other one should surface, email the holder of the duplicate,or cache owner if in a cache and ask them to destroy it or send it back to you postage paid.i hope your one comes to light again.....
  3. After visit one of my caches to carry out maintenance,i noticed the amount of damage done to its hide.I quiet often have caches that are not quiet shut properly. Is this due to the increase of Cachers/Cacheretts joining so should expect.. `Wear and Tear`..or is it due to a small minority that do not own caches themselves so do not treat them as there own.I am thinking of making a series of caches PM Only. But this makes me feel tight.I want cachers to have fun...paid or not paid....Being a PM myself,i treat another cachers/Cacheretts hides and containers with respect..i would like to believe that all PM do the same.If this is the case then by making them exclusive i will be helping my caches live on.What is the downside of being Exclusive.Less visitors maybe?..is there anything else that comes to mind..If in favor...say `YAH`....if not say `NAH...i can then see what the general consensus is.....Thanks for your input
  4. Thank You `Big D` for with holding my ID when this was bought to your attention. This was done whilst the legal aspect was sorted out...and with repect to me. Lets start at the beginning.mmmmm...i think i will go an bag a shed load of caches.....whats this i see on my OS map.The NEW OS map i had only just downloaded of the Area....a `BOAT`....i could drive all the way along there, then where it becomes a Footpath..Walk. Arrived at beginning of Byway..NO Signs saying `NO VEHICLES`.....game on...or so i thought. Checked the OS again..just to be sure.Managed to get within 200 mts of the end then got stuck in monster sized 4x4 ruts.Along the way i did not see one sign...did pass the farmers buildings though....and i was seen, but was not told..`STOP`.Thinking i was doing nothing illegal did not give it a second thought. After seeking the help of 4 cache parties that passed me,stick i was stuck.Decided that as the local Farmer was only just down the Track,it would be the best bet, rather the dig the ground up.Asked Mr Farmer if we could ty and tow me out.He replied....`You should not be down there`.I showed him the map and he said that the map was not all it seemed,In 2006 this Byway was reclassified. It was not uncommon to see a 4x4 going past.Seeing that i had made a mistake and that all the signs had been detroyed agreed to help.Well even his faithful Landy could not move me.No choice but to dig,and find stuff to put under. In the bushes, would you believe it..Rubbish,in the shape of 4 sheets of Rusting Iron.I dont like seeing rubbish in our lovely countryside...but on this Occasion! Thank you litter louts for your contribution !.After many hours managed to get free and went of home thinking no moe about it. Got an email from `D` saying that i had broken the law and upset the County Council and that legal action was to follow.Sorry `D` for exploding at you in my return email (We are friends again now...should of sent it by Carrier Pigeon!...lol..)...The following day,i called the CC and asked how i had broke the law.It was explained that the OS map was not `The Bible` and if I had checked with them could of told me it was out of bounds.I argued that i thought the OS map said everything, and that there was not one sign along my journey (But they are now...the very next day). Understanding that I had made a mistake, the CC are in the mind of Education is better then nicking the unwary/unknowledged and through the GC site hope this can be achieved. They do have a 4x4 problem..and they know who..but i am not one of them. They where trying to get this dealt with under `SECTION 59` but it is down to the police to decide. I have learnt a lot....i do not have as much faith in OS maps as i once did..why are OS maps not updated....even after 3 Years?.That ignorance a NOT a defence regarding this matter??.I will admit, i am still at a loss as to how i was supposed to know about something i did not know...but i know now...(If that makes sense ).I have checked out SECTION 59...and even though not 100% happy about this, can understand that the CC and Police must be seen to be doing something about the problem....It could be worse... having my car crushed.....in my defence.....one sign is all it would of took to stop me..for the ones (I do not believe any are Cachers) who detroyed the signs...thanks maties...excuss the pun....i will pick up the pieces!..Will update with the outcome

  8. It would seem like your little baby has had a fit ..Does it also not spin at all on Nav mode?..if this is the case then it will need to have a Hard Reset..... I can not remmeber the 4 buttons that you have to hold in together..I am sure a fellow cacher will post the buttons needed on this thread...then go outside and it takes about 20 minutes....Garmin send it the Data needed...being Bank Holiday i guess Garmin are not answering the phone....they advised me of the right Buttons ......... If all this fails then the unit will have to be sent back..if you can not do that...bad news..New Unit time In my case it had been fried!..after walking under a large Telecoms Tower...i do not know if this was just coincident or if the Tower blew it up?...all i know is that it refused to track anymore Hope the reset does the Job.....No Tracker is No Fun

  13. Can anybody tell me if this is normal or has something gone wrong.I have had caches adopted before without trouble, but the last lot there semms to be an error.I got the confirmation that they had been adopted. When i went the cache page,it still says my name, nothing about being adopted. My cache hides have gone down, the new owners have gone up.when you click on MY profile at the op of the page,it shoots of to there...one of the caches in question HELP!....thanks

  17. Being on the road a lot of the time i am sometimes in need of a quick cache fix and they do the job. If placed as they should be, can also be a source of cheaper food, fuel and amusement if placed with thought. I will agree..some of them are just placed nowhere..most MM are Micros ..i do like to find a box and some MM are small or Ammo boxes....what better place to have a TB hotel then near a motorway....very quick turn around for TBs....
  18. When I cached in Amsterdam i just copied and pasted the whole page into Babel Fish....easy peasy...until I got arrested! .....car alarm went off just as I was emerging from the bushes....was released without charge....but was to scared to cache ....had to retreat to one of them strange cafe
  19. Welcome to the Sport/Hobby/Pastime or more often then not anADDICTION! If you ever want to know the answer to a caching question this is the place....ask away and in a short while you will answered...... Agree with TH...the Yellow Etrex is a perfect starter or use forever GPS...simply to use and utterly bomb proof!....drop it ,kick it drown it .....hey its still going! ..I personally use the next one up Etrex `Legend`..but be warned..not as Bomb proof as the faithfull `Yellow`...Happy Finding
  20. I have a Nuvi 300.....its great for see where a cache is in the big scheme of things. It has proved to be quiet usefull when my etrex broke whilst on the final of a multi..I stuck in on Ped mode and it guided me to within @50ft....a good search and the cache was found..it also gets a better signal under tree cover...not perfect but combined with your tracker(which is usally struggling or has given up!) will lead you in the right direction...ish.The nuvi is also good if wanting to go paperless caching as Footpaths/hint/anything can be stored with the cache waypoint by editing with `Easy GPS` program when uploading(instead of there being Co-Ords or Address...theres the hint!)...i can only presume the 310 is better..I would not leave home without it!.....go for Garmin,if it breaks..they fix it..or give you a new one.Best of luck in your purchase....let us know how you got on...Bye
