PQ's are limited to 1,000 except for the MyFinds PQ which is limited to your find count. I thought PQs were limited to 500? GSAK rules btw - very nice to have multiple databases and load via a single macro. PQ have been upgraded to 1000 max back in may http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?p...page&id=243 Nice! Thanks.

Fimo Coins - Technique for making the cane for the Geocaching Logo?

Suppose I could have just pulled up the URL on the coin... www.gba.net Signature Items somegeek -
I'd see it as incentive for another person to visit it. Just because the cache isn't visited often doesn't make it a prison... consider it a layover. somegeek How many trackables have you got out there? It would be a prison. My low number of trackables out there doesn't disqualify me from having an opinion. It's a layover.

Pictures - Cool Cache Containers (CCC's)
somegeek replied to AmishHacker's topic in General geocaching topics
My first cache building with concrete - this was a learning experience. This is sifted concrete with sand and some brown color added. A vacant mini ant hill... least that's what I'm saying it is. Stands about 10" tall or so. I used a strip of foam and saran wrap to create the finger groove so the cap is easily accessible. I piled the concrete on to it a bit at a time and shaped as I went. Used a few screws to make sure the concrete had a good grip on the container(saw this tip in someone else's thread). The cap is recessed about about 1/4" in from the surface of the concrete lip. I sprayed the paper logo piece with clear coat and let it dry. Then adhered it to the cap using 3M spray adhesive and then sprayed the whole surface with a poly-u clear coat. Not the prettiest but it will do I think. Was good practice at least. The color will lighten a bit over the next few days while it finishes curing. somegeek -
Forget cleaning your hydration packs... just toss the clean empty (doesn't need to be bone dry) bladder in your freezer when not in use. I read about this method about four years ago and our pack bladders have been in the freezer since... zero issues with funk in them. I also refrain from putting any kind of drink mix in them most of the time. At any rate, this freezer method works great and you don't need to fuss with drying/cleaning if you stick with it.

My penmanship is a form of encryption it's so bad at times... a sticker would do the world a favor. -
I have the Lacrosse Technology BC-500 Alpha Power Battery Charger and it rules. You can select slow or fast charges. Most of the fast chargers you get with the batteries you buy really heat them up. If you've got the time, slow charge your batteries as a rule - they'll last longer and perform better. This works well to just put the fresh battery set you have into your GPS when you get home(if you have a set) and throw the partially discharged batteries into the charger overnight. Always has you going out with fresh batteries in your GPS and a fresh backup set in your pack. somegeek

I hit up the bay for some $1 items from Hong Kong vendors. Imagine folks will dig on these: The laser pointer has a red pointer, a white flashlight LED and a blacklight LED. The compasses are functional as well. Can't knock this for $1 swag. somegeek

The one thing I need in the morning is a decent cup of coffee... Folgers ain't gonna cut it. Drank Peet's Costa Rican for a while and then started roasting my own green beans (bread machine base w/ pots from Goodwill and my old heat gun) - google corretto roasting snobs if interested... Can't knock $4/lb for fresh roasted brazilian beans taken to a vienna/french roast. somegeek

Display cache names on a map

mygme is really slick! Few config options to tweak and it spits out a really nice map with labels... Thanks for noting this! -
Thanks for this - just ordered (4) GCF trackables. Anyone know of any other cheap trackables out there?

Other than swapping flash cards to load larger GPX files, is or will there be a way to select which GPX files are loaded when firing up my Garmin Oregon 300 other than manually inserting different flash media or replacing the GPX file on the GPS? I have a local GPX which has 1975 caches max which works well for around our home, but for grab and go for hiking, it'd be nice to have other GPX files to load easily. Are the flash cards my only option at this point? somegeek

Plotting GPS coordinates on Google Maps / Earth?

Thanks! Been wondering how to do this in google maps. somegeek -
My wife digs on it as much as I do... and as a result of this, more caches are found by my wife than I. Our minds work differently and she's finding them quicker than I. :-) She's told me to bring my GPS when we go out and about to get a few in too. Good times.

What's up with people not trading even or trading up?
somegeek replied to naj2000us's topic in General geocaching topics
My wife and I are in it for the hunt. Swag is cool though. We haven't come across many large enough to hold swag just yet. I did buy a half dozen new matchbox cars and drop those, with the container cut down a bit, as we can. We try to drop stuff we know our own kids would dig on finding when they're old enough to cache with us. Hopefully some kid is picking this stuff up and getting a smile with it. somegeek
