Check if you are still logged in on geocaching.com
FYI: if you are not logged in, the geocaching.com maps does not show caches and stays grey.
-
The problem may be related to the fact that since groundspeaks last update on 13th of May the geocaching.com map is only accessible via a secure HTTPS connection.
If you open http:/www.geocaching.com/map the URL automatiically changes to https:/www.geocaching.com/map
It seems as though Groundspeak didn't register the https://-URL for the plugin.
-
Have a look in this topic (Problem Sending to GPS ) post #30 and #11 for root cause.
-
It seems that this issue is only occurring when attempt to send from the map page as opposed to sending from individual cache listings. I have notified the engineering team of this issue.
I have found a probable root cause!
If you open the geocaching.com maps via http://www.geocaching.com/map/ the URL changes to https://www.geocaching.com/map/
It seems the garmin plugin is not working when using a secure HTTPS connection.
-
In all fairness Groundspeak does not have any control over "3rd party software" and if the 3rd parties are not part of the approved API group then there is no mechanism (or requriement) for Groundspeak to communicate any such changes to them.
It seems some approved API group 3rd party software developers were not aware and not be prepared for this change...
However, this most recent change seems to have caught the 'partner' developers by surprise, and for good reason, they do not know what to best do with the new content. When gc.com makes such changes, I do not understand why all 3rd party partner organizations with access to the API would not be notified in advance of a change like that.
-
- And of course, no release would be complete without a solid round of text changes, site updates and bug extermination.
Solid...????
You've broken a lot of 3rd party softwares by just changing the term "Stages of a Multicache" to "Physical Stage" and "Question to Answer" to "Virtual Stage". link
Thanks to notify us this change in advance...

I started a "refresh cache data" of my GSAK database.
After exactly 900 caches i received a final message "The number of calls allowed for this Method has been exceeded" and the process stopped although my full format balance was 5100.

This image is coming up in ways unrelated to missing images from our own servers (which is very rare). I'm looking into it.
Indeed, I have seen this phenomenon a few times. See my post #12
When this happens at that moment loading of the avatars is also very slow.
-
I received a copy now.
It's working again.
Thanks!
-
I sent some e-mails to different users with the option "Email me a copy of this message" selected, but did not received a copy.
Is there a problem with the mailing system?
-
2 days ago i had the same issue on my cache.
All 3 images are hosted on the image server of geocaching.com
The day after everything was fine...
-
I find it very slow to scroll through maps, get information etc. Is it worth paying to be a premium member? I wonder.
If you look at Average performance per day over the past 7 days of geocaching.com web site,
you may observe an increase of +40% on the response time during the weekend and Monday.

That image is not available at the URL you specify in your cache description.
It seems the hosting site is frequently inaccessible, i fixed it.
Thank you.
-
Without changing anything on my cachepage (GC41QJY), my image is gone and is showing now the "missing image".
Strange things happen...
What is the root cause of this issue?
-
Up to now it did not happen again. Thx for the investigation.
-
If you are using IE: remove geocaching.com from the "Compatibility View settings" will solve the blank map issue but will introduce old issues...!
-
When i click on "View new content" I got:
forums.Groundspeak.com Driver Error
There appears to be an error with the database.
If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again.
You can try to refresh the page by clicking here

The link http://www.geocaching.com/hide/planning.aspx to the new planning map seems not to work. It re-directs to http://www.geocaching.com/ or http://www.geocaching.com/hide/cachemaintenance.aspx

I reported this issue a few weeks ago and still have... no response from GS until now...
http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=314287&view=findpost&p=5346787

Thanks Kalkendotters for the investigation.
Indeed, the text "We're working on it." is misleading.
-
I've noticed that the site seems to have trouble maintaining lots of connections at one time. For example, if I'm looking at a number of different caches at the same time in browser tabs, the site will sometimes take quite a while to connect to a cache page after I open it, but others will open almost immediately. I suspect the load balancer is acting up again.
I reported this issue a few weeks ago and still have... no response from GS until now...
http://forums.Ground...dpost&p=5337344
It seems this issue is back again.
When i click on a geocaching link i get a brown background and have to wait...
fyi: other websites are fast. Only access to geocaching.com is slow.
Nobody else has "loading" problems?
Today, I opened a new IE session to www.geocaching.com -> the page hangs after loading 60% of progress.
I opened a new session in the same IE windows to www.geocaching.com -> loading page was as quick as 'greased lightning'...
-
I followed this topic, GS confirmed that all possible recovery processes for the image issue have now been completed (21 dec 2013).
I just wonder what they mean with "We're working on it", so this popup message should be "MISSING IMAGE, Sorry about that. We can not recover your image."

Another good example of a Favorites glitch is the International Space Station cache.
1 found by AstroRM (did not favorited the cache)
2 write notes by OHL Hockey Guy and LordBrtisch
It was OHL Hockey Guy who favorited this cache but did not logged the cache with a FOUND . link
Result: International Space Station has unfairly 1 Favorite or a 100% Favorites/Premium Logs score...

Since a few days i see following image popping up on cachepages.
Does someone know what is going on?

I confirm, it's working again.
