  1. I have one of those! Exactly the same. I bought it for my cats collar but she refuses to wear a collar...
  2. I'm a courier. I drive all over the city and area about 200 KM's a day. I have found more caches in the last month since I got an I phone than in the previous six months BIP (before I phone) It is just too easy when I am in an area to touch the phone to find nearby caches and hunt them. The old etrex is always with me and I use it to spare the horribly weak I phone battery but the I phone is perfect for caching while working. Just so I don't get called a slacker... I only get paid for deliveries I do. Downtime is my time.
  3. I have really bad arthritis that affects most of my joints. Some days I feel perfectly fine and I have had to take a month off work at other times due to an arthritis flare. I find that if I can find a balance between rest and activity I feel much better. Recently I had planned to find 10 caches in one day. It didn't work out that way. The first find was a 2 mile hike (which I loved) but that pretty much ended my day. I did manage to find 3 park and grabs on the way home though. Sitting around makes me ache... walking around too much makes me ache. Somewhere in between is perfect and geocaching helps me do that. Plus it is something that my wife and I enjoy together and that's always good.
  4. Brilliant! Unless you had argued with certain people right before your disappearance! Then I would know who to blame!
  5. I just wear whatever my wife tells me to. Without her I would probably look like the uni-bomber.
  6. You shouldn't hit any of your wives.
  7. Who said anything about fake? Anyway, I've lost interest in this thread, now that the 4 p.m. central time deadline has passed and we're not going to see Castle Mischief eat his shoe. And all the nearby donut stores are closed now. Life is cruel sometimes. I'm pretty hungry... it's late... if you pay me enough i will eat a shoe for money.
  8. I do so wish more people felt like you. But then... this thread wouldn't be so angsty and I would have nothing to read. I did manage to read the entire thread before I posted, as painful as it was. I do find the forums entertaining and I must admit I hang out here quite often. I really only manage to get worked up over in the off topic when we get going on politics. But the folks there don't like talking about politics. Instead they just hang out in the stands and lob furr balls at the likes of me. That is ok. This is entertainment and also sometimes intellectual excercise. Good stuff if you choose to make so. Maybe we can get one going over the health care bill passing. That would clearly get anyone banned
  9. How is pointing out a factual inaccuracy a personal attack? Again... you have completely left the topic of this thread and I do not wish to be punished for your inability to understand that. Point out all the facts you want but do it outside of someone elses thread. Do you understand that yet? PM me if you wish or go away... I'm good either way. Sorry to those that have had to witness what happens when people go nuts and can't remember what the topic is and keep the posts within it.
  10. I'm free to respond to a public forum comment in public. But please try to stay on topic and not attack me personally. I find your responses questional.
  11. When she has Posts #17 & 23, and you don't chime in until post #25, how exactly did she 'follow [you]' ??? And you are post #33? please let her speak for herself. You belittle her when you try to talk for her. Lets not make it personal... I said nothing to you so you have nothing to say to me. Please don't attack me. If YOU wish to pm me then please do. I don't want to derail this thread. I'm simply pointing out a factual inaccuracy. Noted. If you (someone I have never spoken to chooses to talk to me then please do it away from the forums.) OT... Some people will even have others defend their FTF practices when they can't!
  12. When she has Posts #17 & 23, and you don't chime in until post #25, how exactly did she 'follow [you]' ??? Previous threads... following.. keep up. And you are post #33? please let her speak for herself. You belittle her when you try to talk for her. Lets not make it personal... I said nothing to you so you have nothing to say to me. Please don't attack me. If YOU wish to pm me then please do. I don't want to derail this thread. If she has not been sent to banned camp then let her speak for herself.
  13. I do so wish more people felt like you. But then... this thread wouldn't be so angsty and I would have nothing to read.
  14. Which I did, five months ago. Then don't take my advice because I am an angry vengeful man. Honestly, look at other people that offer advise. Mine was humorous and I am new here. Good luck in whatever you do.
  15. Not hearing his or her side... some bridges are best burnt. He or she could have stated his or her case better... threats make me reply in kind. I realize this is not the way I should be but it is what it is. However.. if you are involved with a local caching association in your area then be careful.. they can be cliqish. I for the most part cache alone or with friend(s) and could care less what others think of me as long as I am a considerate cacher. A note should have been posted first though.
  16. Careful !!! that makes too much sense!
  17. What he said. When I was setting up Frankenfeet, there was a cache some 100 feet from where mine needed to go. (for the reason, go read the description) Anyway, I mailed that CO, told him what I was up to, and very politely asked him if he would/could move his cache. Less that 2 hours later, he sent me a note that is was moved plenty far, so I could get mine published. IT all depends on how you ask, and what your reasons are. Two excellent responses! Of course my hides are all perfect so noone would ever consider asking me to move one. Seriously, I did get an email a few years ago from a cacher I knew, who said he had a great idea for a multi in a new park where I had a cache. My cache wasn't great so I considered his request when I decided to archive it some time later. He has never done anything about placing his cool multi. If I get a similar request at any point in the future I would require a "walk through" so I could see the placement and the container. Not unreasonable.
  18. Meh... I have about 66 found and none hid. I have a few posts in the forums. I only own one GPS'r And an I phone. I do consider myself to be a Geocacher. (I would hide one but some people would like to crucify me for doing so before I have 100+ finds) In the meantime.. I will continue to do what I do...
  19. He's not asking for people to be careful in the rain - something any sensible geocacher will do without being asked. He's demanding that people not find his cache in the rain. It's not just FTF hunters who are going to ignore that request. Geocaching is an outdoor game! The cache should be able to stand up to the rain. Keep the log in plastic bags, and put in another large ziplock for swag. How did I know you would argue with me? You seem to follow me from thread to thread and attack me or claim I attacked you. I am all for a debate in the forums but if I say it is black you will say it is white. Please stop. And no, I will not pm you. and you should not pm me. You said "something any sensible geocacher will do without being asked. He's demanding that people not find his cache in the rain." You must know in your infinite wisdom that not all cachers are sensible? and please show me where he demanded it? he requested.. and even politely asked... Please stop twisting words... I and others are sick of people twisting words (not aimed at you) BTW, he did state how he made it weather friendly... it was only wet because certain FTF cachers left it open while checking out eggs to find the log in the rain. I know I wouldn't do that. Would you? Some might. Wanna defend them? He said it was sealed. If people (cachers were all "sensible" then he wouldn't have needed to post would he?) Good lord. No more straw men please.
  20. You might want to reconsider telling people to shut up when you don't like the discussion. I find it a little bit sad that some people in this forum seem to insist on carrying a grudge from one thread to another. I often find myself disagreeing with someone in one thread while agreeing with them in another. We're all people who love this game. I might not agree with everything everybody says, but I think there's value in discussing these things. Strong opinions mean that people care - and that's good. Some forum regulars like to think that they should have the last word on everything and get frustrated when topics come up over and over again. I think that repetition is a sign that geocaching is growing, and there are new people taking an interest in these touchy subjects. Maybe they weren't around the first fifty times the subject was discussed, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have an opportunity to work through these ideas. Ditto but, could you quote where he/she told anyone to shut up? I have not read this thread from the beginning.
  21. That opens up a whole world of opportunity now for OTF ('Only to Find') hounds. Find it first and destroy it before anyone else can find it. Talk about competition! We could call it "MuggleMania!" The person who destroys the most caches by being FTF'er within a 24 hour period (unbroken period of time) wins a Guinness book of world records award! This has potential!
  22. What I don't understand are the people saying that they don't read the cache page before hunting so therefore they didn't know it should not be hunted in the rain? Really? It's raining and you find a cache... so it's ok to leave the lid open for an extended period of time while you check out eggs while rain pours into the cache? You feel no responsibility for the cache getting wet because you weren't told to not look for it in the rain? My goodness... I hardly think he is asking too much for people to respect and try to preserve a cache in the rain. Cover it with your coat, body or move it somewhere else to sign the log book then replace it. I suppose to some people a FTF really is the more important than anything.. cache be dammed.
  23. This isn't the one off Roper road is it? I recently DNF'd that one due to melting.
