  1. Thanks to all those who made this happen again! We had a great time and look forward to seeing you all again soon (maybe at the Bellingham Cache Machine?) Thanks again, DuncanClan
  2. Thanks all for your inputs, and you can count us in! DC
  3. I'll post a note on the cache page that the DuncanClan will be there. This would be our first CM. I must ask, as I read the posts I don't see a lot of reference to children on this event. Half of the DuncanClan is a 5 y/o and a 6 y/o. They are good cachers and strong hikers/walkers, but with short legs. Is this kind of event appropriate for us as a team? By the way, the kids are still pretty light. Maybe we could dangle one of them over the dock at the Bellingham Boat Launch! (Gonna have to okay that with the wife though!) Thanks, DuncanClan
  4. Just to clarify, this TB confusion... Coins can be set up as TBs, yes. This one was not. There are a couple of ways you might be able to tell that the coin is not activated as a TB yet. One is the log I posted. Another way is that the coin may still be in it's plastic bag, with the activation code and instructions on it. Taking TBs without leaving something is perfectly acceptable. From my understanding of the "rules" there is no need to trade out TBs, just keep them moving toward their goals... I am also not as disappointed as I was. Maybe it was the guy's/gal's first geocoin they've found. I hope I made their day! Either way, water under the bridge... DC
  5. ...but I am bummed/disappointed. Okay I guess this is a swag/trade equally complaint...I traveled very far to leave a state geocoin (uncirc) in the cache of another country. I did it for the fun/novelty of it. Here's what happened to it... I sure hope its a nice key chain flashlight... Okay, I'm done (with complaining), probably not even justified... DC
  6. My 5y/o son, like many have said, anything with wheels. He also likes to find the little superhero figures. My6y/o daughter, costume jewlrey (yes, including braclets), and those little plastic animals. They both carry their own swag. They trade swag out item for item, like hot wheel for hot wheel. As someone else said, their favorite part of geocaching if asked is usually the hike and of course finding the cache! DC
  7. I'm also in Okinawa, with just a mountain bike!! I am deployed here off and on for the rest of the year...anyone want to be a guide? DuncanClan
  8. Eraseek, Do you have a link to the page your refering too? DC
  9. My Mother is getting into Geocaching, and is interested in purchasing a GPSr for under a hundred bucks to get her started. Any help? DC
  10. A few months back I left my GPSr on top of my truck and didn't realize it until I was several miles (and turns) down the road. My heart sank into my gut when I realized what I had done. I pulled over, and it was still there...thank goodness for that rubber backing! DC
  11. I did do several searches...must be my searching technique . Thanks for the link. DC
  12. I can't remember where I saw them for sale, the Italian Charms with the geocaching logo on them. I'd like to get a couple for the girls in the clan. Anyone know? Thanks DC
  13. Sorry all, due to circumstances at work, I will not be able to participate or sponsor that weekend.
  14. My primary hunting grounds will be Japan, Australia, Thailand, Philippines, Okinawa and Singapore. Does anyone know what the maps look for those areas? Thanks, Eric
  15. Madog, or anyone, I am considering purchasing Mapsource Worldmap for an upcoming trip. Can you give me some insight to the detail of the maps? The Garmin website's "sample" is pretty unstable, and I am not able to zoom in or pan very well without getting a black screen. Any insight would be appreciated. DC
  16. The DuncanClan will take 6/17.
  17. It would be on April 16th, Saturday. I am going to contact the park services tomorrow for the best location. Probably Deception Pass or Fort Ebey as they are the largest parks and the most used parks on the island. Plus both of those parks have established caches that everyone could hunt down after the clean-up. Where ever we end up doing it, I am going to place a new cache in the area as well. So everyone will have something to hunt! DC
  18. Thanks for the info and the link. I'm still really undecided whether or not I need this. Like Jamie said, there isn't much detail at all. One of the cities I am visiting is a city of 20K, and it's not even on the map. So, we'll see. I'll still be able to use my gpsr as a pointer while I'm away. Could probably find something better to spend the $70 on. DC
  19. I'm going to be doing a bunch of traveling this summer to several different countries. Has anyone used MapSend Worldwide? Thoughts/Recommendations? DC
  20. NFA, Got our benchmark on Friday. Thanks alot! It was exactly what we were looking for. DuncanClan
  21. Put me in line, if all of the above deals fail. Thanks! Eric
  22. My intention was not to try to find archived caches. If the reason I'm asking is important, it is because I was planning on placing a couple of Historical caches and was looking for some ideas. 2 other geocachers and myself had a conversation and were brainstorming on finding potenitally good cache locations with historical value. One of the ideas was that there once was another cacher that had many caches in my area...too many to maintain....so he archived a bunch. These may or may not be good places to place new caches and seemed like one logical approach to finding areas to place new caches. DC
