  1. Do the blue spots get progressively worse the more you use the backlight (in this case on a Merigreen)? Right now there is a blue area right along the right side of the screen -- not yet bothersome. Do the spots "grow" or "multiply" or will it stay like this?

    TIA

  2. Tried again to order once I got to work (again using Netscape) and was *successful*. The look of the site has changed so maybe they were still in the process of updating it and that is why some of us (shortly after told the vests were available) couldn't get access to the actual ordering area. I'd successfully ordered from the site a number of times before so figured it had to be some odd temporary problem at the other end. At any rate, in a few days R's xmas gift should arrive. (I'm always amazed at how FAST their orders arrive. icon_razz.gif)

  3. Is anyone else having problems ordering a vest? I've ordered before with no problems (most recently about a week ago) but now the site keeps saying I can't.

It says this (none of which is accurate):

Sorry! There are currently no items in your basket. There are several possible reasons why this has occured:

    * Your session has expired - If you have been away for over an hour your basket items will disappear.

    * You came to this page accidentally

    * You don't have cookies enabled - You need to have your cookies turned on in order to shop with us. This enables us to store your shopping cart until you're ready to checkout.

    Any ideas? TIA

No, you could not use a firmware patch to add color to a gray scale screen.

Thanks for explaining and straightening us out. We really did NOT think we could change the grayscale of our Meridian to color but misunderstood something we had read. (Darn!!!) icon_frown.gif

  5. Geoquilt II "Cache 'n Dash" (GC6665) cache (created specifically for quilt square signing) has just been approved. It is located near Redding in northern California. Please come and sign a square if you are traveling through or live in the area; lets all help DxChallenged with her great geoquilt project!

  7. We too have the Mag 315. We use NiMH rechargeable batteries almost exclusively in it and are very happy with how long they last as compared to using

regular ("top of the line") alkaline batteries. We do have two chargers now, but for a couple of years only had one. The original is a Quest brand charger that we purchased at Walmart for less than $16; it came complete with four 1300 mAh batteries. For about $11. we bought an additional four of the same batteries. Four batteries now go into the digital camera (and last MUCH MUCH MUCH longer than other batteries), two into the gpsr and two either in the charger or charged and with us as backups. (Our newer charger has more powerful NiMH batteries, Panasonic brand I think, and was purchased at Costco.)

Note that when you put rechargeable batteries into the unit, the battery meter is not accurate like it would be with disposable batteries. (Until I found that out, even though I knew the batteries were lasting quite a long time, I kept thinking they must be defective and weren't fully charging.)

While in the car we use the Magellan "External Power Cable with Cigarette Lighter Adapter". We had looked on line and at different places trying to purchase one, but fortunately found it while on a trip at a Sportmart store for $14.99 -- less than 1/2 the cost of other stores! It works GREAT and saves our batteries for caching. (When we bought the Mag 315 at Frys it came with the cord to hook it up to the computer so we wanted to get the separate cigarette lighter cord.)

You'll be very happy with the results of either/or the rechargeable batteries or the external power cord. Have fun caching...! (But watch out -- it is addicting...!

  9. We would love to help from here in Bella Vista - northern California. (Sent you an email to that effect a few minutes ago.) What a great project and way to combine two wonderful hobbies!
