  3. quote:such as the cacher who logged the answers to my virtual cache....and the one who up-loads pictures with step-by-step instructions in their descriptions (which can't even be encrypted)... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  4. There do seem to be log-jams in the email notification system at times (I've noticed updates on the website a few days before the e-mail arrived before now), and there's also the chance the log was back-dated. Could also have been a combination of both... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  5. ...or the same thread, but from the archived system, as the one in this forum seems to have been chopped up a bit... What matters more with bugs is keeping them alive and active, moving from cache to cache... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  6. quote:Anyone else experiencing this problem?Back in January I had to actively watch two of my bugs to get anything back from them. I assumed the third would have the same problem so "watched" it as well, and I've had double messages from it... The others havn't moved for so long that I don't know whether I'll now get double messages from them too... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk

  10. quote:_Use of electronic devices for treasure hunting _That could also imply metal detectors, and while you could probably claim that you were using your GPS to find your way around a park, it's hard to think of an excuse for using a metal detector in a park that doesn't involve looking for something buried... 11. If folks havn't registered then they may not have agreed formally to play by the rules, so I think it's perfectly fair to insist folks login before giving them access to the exact coordinates of any caches. OTOH, the logs and general descriptions should mostly be available to all, though I guess a means of marking parts of a description (or log) as not-for-display-to-all might become necessary, for those caches where significant positional information is given... 12. quote:Can you do this by posting a note on the bug page? No, you'd have to log the cache one way or another. Curiously, it seems you can drop off a TBug at a cache even if you log a "not found"... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  13. There's a lot to be said for using something limited (like the UBB code this forum system uses) rather than allowing raw HTML in logs. A case for similar limitations in cache descriptions could also be made, though UBB itself might be a bit too limited for that... Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  14. quote:in Perth Not that many, judging by the logs. I hid 3 caches and left a couple of Bugs in WA while I was out there on holiday over Xmas, and I also hunted a few. Not sure how much of the current lack of activity is down to it being to hot though. You might also like to look into the Aussie Geocaching board. Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk

  16. quote:In which case the page will revert to the standard background...eventually, when things time-out, asuming the browser and so on _do_ time out gracefully... There was a cache down this way that had black-on-purple, and I've seen pages with black-on-black too. Very HHGTTH Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk

  18. It's arguable that a body tag within the body should be ignored, as, IIRC, they're not supposed to be nestable. Whatever... The downside comes when the host site for the image is unavailable. I'm not keen on backgrounds that make the text unreadable. Black text on dark navy blue or purple, anyone? Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk

  20. quote:How do you test the adapter to see if it is actually working (without leaving it plugged in overnight)?Go to the "Main menu" screen and look at the little icon at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. If it's showing a battery then you're running off battery. Ifthe adapter is providing power then the icon turns into a little power lead. Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  21. quote:Particularly interesting is the log for Go Fish on 21st March at Paddington Dare, which is a virtual cache!Yeah, I noticed that and wondered... The bugs havn't actually stayed long in each cache, but there's nothing to indicate they were never there. It looks as if Gimli and Hawkeyes have been on their travels together, visiting caches all over the place, and swapping bugs at every one. Or something like that. Wonder whether they're going to upload pictures of the bugs' travels? Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
  22. It might be helpful, yes. "Regular" caches span quite a range at the moment. Being slightly media-minded, I've concluded there are ones you can fit a VHS video into, ones that'll take a CD but not a VHS video, and ones that won't even take a CD, but they're all "regular". Then, of course, there are also those that are just so full of stuff that it's a challenge just re-packing with what was in there already. Purrs... LazyLeopard http://www.lazyleopard.org.uk
