  1. I recently had someone drop a new container and claimed a find on one of my caches. I checked and the cache was exactly where it should be. I donot think that it is right nor fair to other cachers that actually look for and find a cache before they claim it as a find. I was wondering if I could remove the find and replace it with a dnf and if so; how do I go about it?

  2. Last Christmas I bought two Garmin 60CSX's,one as a gift and one for myself, I now have three GPSr's and an Android phone that I use. If I had to get rid of all but one, I would keep the 60CSX. Don't worry about it being discontinued, it is a great unit.

  3. I think that if the reviewers start checking maps to see if the cache is on private property LPCs will be a thing of the past. All LPCs in my area are on private property and I would be willing to bet anything that none have permission to be there. On this particular cache, I think it should be archived, anyone that has worked around wires knows that the insulation is going to crack eventually and if you touch that while touching the pole, the lamp is not the only thing that is going to be lit up.

  4. I remember seeing a quote here in the forums that basically said that if "stealth is required" then it is a terrible place to have a cache. I tend to agree with this. There is a micro cache nearby that is on one of the busiest intersections in the city and " stealth is required".This is one that made the ignore list for me.

  5. What about getting it off of GPSr buttons and touchscreens? Is rubbing alcohol recommended? I have it on my new Oregon (not on the touchscreen) and I've got about 90% off by working at it with a paper towel dampened with warm water. But it still feels a little sticky.

just put a little "Goo Gone" on a paper towel and rub it on the buttons. The stuff works wonders

  6. Give it a good sanding with 100 to 150 grit sand paper. be sure to get all of the rust off. You can treat the rust spots with some WD-40. That will help get the rust off pretty well. Then get yourself a good primer paint. Let that dry for a day or 2. Then give it a light sanding with 100 grit paper. A can of Rustolium Primer would be a good choice. Then go with the color of your choice. Take your time and do several coats giveing about 8 hours or more between coats. A light sanding with 200 grit paper is good between coats. Be sure to give it a good wipe down after each coat.

Make sure the can isn't bent anywhere. If you see excessive rubbing between the lid and the can then the lid flaps may be bent in slightly. Sometimes the rubber seal in the lid gets sticky. So clean that off with a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean it. Then maybe rub a bit of gear oil on the gasket to keep it from sticking and help insure a good seal.

gear oil is not a good idea. it will eat away at the gasket material.you could get a can of spray silicone and use that on the seal and then spray a little on the door seals and window felts on your car while you're at it.

  7. Hey, im sorry if this has already been answered, but i searched in the forum with a few different keywords and nothing came up.

I have a question about inserting an image into the cache description, mainly how do you do it?

Does it need to be on the internet first and then you use HTML is insert it or is their a way to go straight from your comp to the cache description.

    Thanks for any help.

  8. I know we all have bad days, but wow, this person's logs for their other finds aren't even nice.

Without knowing anything of the person, strictly from the online logs alone, I'd guess the person is probably male and a teenager.

I wonder if that is accurate, or I should hang on to my daytime job and not apply to be a profiler. Probably the latter :)

Hope he knows what to do with the geocoin by now.

oh well. took a geocoin... but i'm not quite sure what i'm supposed to do with it.

Exactly what I was thinking. Very immature and almost apathetic. I would wager he gets bored before the 4th of July and moves on to awkward conversations with girls.

I don't know any males teenage or not that use the word "jerk". My wife uses it and ladies (67) that I work with use it and before you ask no they are not taljking about me when they use it
