  1. There are more significant improvemnts than bugs. Most of the bugs are minor. Just delete your waypoints through the waypoint manager and your fine. No shut down. As for the shut down of the unit when plugging it into the unit just turn it on first and let it boot then plugin. Yeh they are a pain but there are work arounds and as I said before significant improvments. Yes, it's progress ... and it's a beta release, not a biggie.
  2. Well, I'm holding my breath on this one. It may be a problem with my laptop or usb cable - I am also unable to mount my AT&T Tilt and digital camera as drives on my laptop ... please, please!
  3. I find my 400t will crash if I plug the USB in and let it boot. To connect to my PC now all I have to do is boot the GPS normally wait a few seconds and then plug in the USB. Note - this is even when I am well indoors with no chance of GPS lock. Has anyone tried this with no sat lock, but turning off the sat search ( assuming that it can be turned off before the "cannot find satellite, continue yes or no" or whatever the message is )? Uh oh! I have tried this with the following : 1 - GPS "turned off", not searching for satellites ( via "Use with GPS off" in satellite screen ) 2 - GPSr looking for satellites 3 - GPSr plugged into PC, turned off, turn on 4 - GPSr with signal lock In all four cases, my 400t will not go into mass storage mode ... I think that I may be gaficked! This the first serious issue since I bought my 400t, which was when back in Jan/Feb, when they came out at REI? edit : I have also tried spanner mode -> mass storage mode with "use with GPS off", as above

  5. Looks like it's in Unix file format. I was able to view it no problem with a vi clone, VIM, with no problem.
  6. Definitely a new prob. with 2.54 - I am still on 2.51 ( for the next 10 minutes anyway ) and all works normal with the old beta version ( 2.51 ).
  7. MANY times. See the Garmin Colorado GPS Wiki. and search for "A gpx file from for geocache GCTXEX" in the "Issues List"
  8. Yes, I am definitely keeping my eye on the Touch Pro and the Touch Diamond. The same size screen as my Tilt so no eBook benefit but it's a pretty sexy phone and with a GPS, Touch interfact, it's a good sounding phone for me.
  9. Speculation is rampant on the various sites tracked by macsurfer as to how this is going to play out.... Due to the switch to a traditional cell phone model of discounted hardware being subsidized up front by companies like AT&T (vs ongoing fee per month with the v1 iPhone contract with AT&T in the US) and that Apple will supposedly no longer sell the phones online, it kind of implies that if you want to buy one at an Apple store or a cell phone retailer, you aren't walking out the door without a 2 year contract. Although it does sound like the penalties have gone down a bit, so maybe if you sign a contract, walk out of the store and immediately cancel, you'd be out US $300 + ~ US $200 cancel fee, or about the same cost as the original v1 phone before price drop. Note the monthly fees in the US would be $10 more than for the v1 phone, and also the plan no longer includes the 200 SMS per month, so you'd be out even more per month if you add that to your plan if you are a v1 user considering an upgrade. dflye, can you point me to some threads where this is being actively/enthusiastically discussed.
  10. Although I wouldn't be happy about that I could live with as long as I can take my old number ( I have a Tilt ) transfer it to the iPhone, then put my new number on my old Tilt ( "old" ... it's not even a year old ).
  11. Wow, there is a single device ( no attachments ), with a 3.5 inch display, and GPS receiver for WM? Which one is that? I am a die-hard WM person and have thus far resisted the iPhone, primarly as it does not some with Mobipocket or eReader ports ( I am a eBook fanatic and will NEVER go back to paper ). However with the release of the SDK and announcement ( or ... I read it on a website somewhere! ) that Mobipocket is coming our with a iPhone port, I am seriously thinking of going over to the dark side. I would NEVER consider using an iPhone for geocaching, not even urban caching. I think that it's too fragile ( glass screen, not waterproof ) for caching. Does anyone know what the no-plan price is for the 16gb unit?
  12. And you also don't have to remember to carry your PDA with you when you walk to the cache ... and then need to read the cache description. I've done that SO many times with my 60CSx and it's nice to have the 2-in-1 device in my 400t.
  13. I have a properly working unit. You need to return yours. your probaly right but it's getting frustrating...........I'm on my fourth unit............. Ouch, that hurts. Yeah, must be frustrating. I was lucky and got a great 400t when I bought it in January.
  14. bish0p has also written a similar app, for Windows Mobile.
  15. You can definitely get away with a 300, as g-o-cachers is suggesting. For Canadian Topo, you can get free maps from ibycus, he has a website for the downloads. If you are looking for routing, you'll need to either get City Navigator or Garmin's Topo Canada ( I don't know how current the roads are for Topo Canada, though ).
  16. In addition to your tips above, you may want to also indicate HOW ( where appropriate ) to do what you are suggesting.
  17. Well, you need to spend some time in the other Colorado threads. There are countless reasons people have already given over and over and over again as to what is good about the Colorado. Yet still people ask "Ummm, why do you like the Colorado? Why should I buy a Colorado? What is good about the Colorado?" as if none of these questions have EVER been answered. Just spend the time researching.
  18. Fortunately, you are not required to read this thread. Whew, disaster and years of therapy averted. p.s. I love my 400t!
  19. Not really that new, Calgary Geo-Post Office
