  1. You can only edit your post for 24 hours. Doh! Thanks.
  2. Am I imagining things? Can I not edit my original post, it's only two days old?
  3. After almost three years of geocoin inactivity I have decided to sell my collection , keeping only those coins that are precious to me for various reasons. Most of my geocoins are older, from 2-4 years old, and are NOT activated. Forgive me if I accidentally list a geocoin that was intended for trade-only, no-sell condition - just let me know and I'll pull it ( I'm 50 now man, how can I be expected to remember stuff now? ). I have 5-6 Lock n Lock's and a big or two filled with geocoins and will be adding to this list this week. I have some non-trackables as well but, for obvious reasons, will not be selling them here. How to buy : - Contact : nicolo@yurasis-dragon.net - Currency : USD - Payment : PayPal - Shipping : To the US and Canada only, $2 for packaging and postage, add .25 for extra coins ( geocoins after the first purchased ) - Note that I will not consider a sale made until we have agreed on the purchase and price. Inquiries about a coin do not constitute a sale - it will remain on this list as available. I will sell these geocoins on a first e-mailed, first served basis. Good luck, have fun ... Richard. 4. shouldn't that be adglay and atthay? Hey, cut me some slack, it's not my first language!
  5. Have you run the Copy2Card.exe file? I started it and it looked as if it was going to work correctly ( didn't complete it as I want to wait for other guinea pigs to do it first ).
  6. Just did the install: GPS software goes from 2.8 to 3.40, I hope that this fixes my accuracy problem. The last few s/w updates have done nothing ( for my 400t ) to fix accuracy issues ( never noticed if the GPS software was updated ). I was having odd problems, I'd get, say, 5 meters from a cache and suddenly my 400t would say 15 meters somewhere else. I actually have cross a street to find a cache, only to have to re-cross it to actually get to the actual cache location ... that's bad. I'll be caching tomorrow, hope this does the trick for me.
  7. That's because this is beta firmware, again *sigh*
  8. Note that you have only had the unit for four months, with the latest and greatest firmware upgrade. Note that your post is 9 months since the previous one. You are talking to people who purchased the Colorado when they first came out ( as I did ) - they have struggled with poor performing units that have had many improvements from when this model first came out, how long has it been folks, over a year now? I was lucky and had a decent unit from the start, but it benefited from firmware updates ( i.e. feature adds ) along the way. Your current Colorado experience has benefited from the complaints and feedback that these people have passed along to Garmin.
  9. Are you talking about the compass or the pointer? Why would you want the compass to point at anything other than north?
  10. I saw an immediate change in battery meter reality. I had used my eneloops for about two hours with the old firmware and the meter showed them at 50%. The beta firmware shows them at 100% now. Yeah me too, definite improvement in battery metering.
  11. Aha, I am also having crash problems with the upgrade ... and I also have a jailbroken phone, with Winterboard. Thanks, I'll try this out. What, you expect that someone is going to sue you if they follow your suggest and things go awry? Update : That worked for me as well. I had to go through the process twice, though, as it seemed to only work once I actually ran the geocaching app after re-install, then shut it down and re-installed WinterBoard. Thanks.
  12. Palm Pre. iPhone killer. Swappable battery. And it can cut-n-paste. But can it copy-n-paste?
  13. The battery is limited but if you travel by car between caches you can recharge on the trip. Also I recently found a battery pack from Sanyo with a model no. of KBC-L2. I got it at Costco for $34. Not sure what it is called on the package but it is a nice white plastic and looks very ipodish. I usually only find an average of three caches in a day. I'm not into the numbers. You know you are about to get a load of replies all telling you that you need a real GPS! I'm not going to get into that debate but I'll give you some tips for the Iphone: Get a good case, you might drop it! I don't really use the compass mode, not really that good. I use the Geocaching app so I always know what caches are nearby wherever I am. I do use the map mode but in satelite view. Zoom all the way in and you should be able to see where it should be. At least it works for me in California. I did try to use Google maps on a cache located in South Carolina and when I zoomed in it said there wasn't enough data to get that zoom level. So if you're in one of those areas than it won't work as well for you. GPS or Iphone are only going to get you close and then you need to use the most important tool: your brain. So Good Luck and have fun!! Well said! I agree 100% ... seriously! Yes, I believe that the iPhone w/ geocaching app is good for a few caches a day. For the numbers people, a dedicated unit such as the Garmin Oregon is far better. I also have a battery pack that I use for charging my iPhone 3G ( or any portable USB device ) in a pinch. I also use Textmarks via Coord.info to load up my Field Notes on geocaching.com for easy logging when I get home.
  14. Yes, that is definitely the way to go. I found the pointer and update/refresh rate pretty useless until I used the satellite map. Much easier and now I'll use it occasionally. However, I still will only use it in a pinch as my Oregon ( or most handhelds ) is much better for bigger caching days. I noticed that those who have said that they use it exclusively have a low number of finds ( almost all under 100 finds, a lot under 30 ). How many caches are you folks finding in a day using the iPhone-only method? Also, how many iPhone-only cachers have used handheld-GPSrs and what models have you used?

  16. Thank you for making this post slight different from your previous three identical posts, it's VERY refreshing and I love it when people stretch their wordsmithing efforts, bravo! : Before I get accused of being a troll, I will say that I posted my experiences with the 400t in several threads that I thought were pertinent. If this is a violation of the forum rules, I apologize and I am sure the moderators will correct my errors. As for your opinion of my "wordsmithing", wannabe moderator jerks like you are the main reason I choose not to participate in forums like these in the first place. The real probable reason that you don't participate is that you can't take/understand a joke. I dropped a winky smiley, I was joking. Take a pill man.

  18. The hints are in the GPX file, are you sure that the caches that you are looking at have hints? Kind of useless looking for the hint if the cache doesn't have one ... if you ask me.
  19. That's one of those phrases whose use has eclipsed the meaning. The one that still grates on me--especially when I hear myself say it--is ATM machine. Yeah but don't forget to enter your PIN number when you use that ATM machine. Back to your regular scheduled topic, sorry!
  20. To prevent duplication of effort/data, perhaps fill it with links to the info on the Delorme forums, at least for the content that isn't original to the wiki itself? Exactly, and I would expect that most of the links would connect to the various subjects in the "Tips" forums. If one wanted to go further, most of the Wiki could be cut and pasted from those links. But a copy/paste would result in duplication of data. ... But not if the data is cut and pasted like Team CowboyPapa suggested, that way the source data is gone and only the pasted data remains. Sorry for odd humor, but I always get a kick out of it when people say "cut and paste" when they REALLY mean "copy and paste." Hello?! They DO have different meanings!
  21. Colorado allows databases of POIs, per your loading. The Oregon, to the best of my knowledge, does not ... and I miss this!
  22. NT, non-NT ...? Full version, upgrade version? I can get an ISO generated for you, I'll PM you with download info once finished.
