Thats a good example. A micro is the only option. Brunels Railway bridge is an amazing structure, especially when seen from River level. Yet it's in the Top 97% of caches! i.e it's not very popular, so whats the point of leaving it out? I can't believe that one's only in the top 97%! I loved that cache of yours. It was amazing looking up at the bridge from down there, especially after traveling over it so many times before.

What about the rest of them?! -
Christmas seems to get earlier every year! When it's really Christmas time the shops start putting out Easter Eggs!

Back on track again!...

Went up to Dartmoor today and it was stunning - thick with snow, but freezing cold! There again, shouldn't moan, it gets a lot colder elsewhere!...

Not nitpicking either but should there be a comma before 'but'? I'm nitpicking, which is dangerous in my postion - but isn't it a stickler? Speaking of nitpicking what's 'postion'?!!!

Congrats from us Andy!

Just driven home from Plymouth and the snow was coming down thick and fast on the A38! Don't know where it's got to now though - back to the usual rain again.

Feet (the Kind With Toes)
The Hancock Clan replied to third-degree-witch's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
It makes a HUGE difference what boots you get. For serious walkers, it is very rare to be able to go into a High Street store and pick up correctly fitting boots. I walked Hadrians Wall in September and bought some fairly expensive boots for it, whilst the guy that did it with me bought his from a High St. outdoor shop. Neither of us did any training and we completed all 86 miles in 3 and a half days, which was going some! Anyway, by the end of it, his feet were ripped to shreads and unbelievably, I didn't even have one blister! The boots I had were made by Scarpa but that was only because they fitted me properly. I bought them from Outside, an outdoor shop in Hathersage, Derbyshire. It took over an hour before the salesman was happy with a well fitting boot. The staff were extremely well trained and took into consideration aspects like arch length, heel slip, and the terrain I was going to do. I swear by my boots now and would highly recommend the company which I bought them from. -
And The Next Nearest Caches Are.....
The Hancock Clan replied to Birdman-of-liskatraz's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Something I discovered yesterday from a memory map thread was the use of the HTML export in GSAK. This on its own creates a folder where you can access all your caches (offline) that you downloaded as a PQ. There's an index page with many features and each cache page has a link to the nearest caches (the amount can be determined when exporting and the default is 5). You will however need GSAK to be able to do this. -
First, you'll need to install Roolku's script. After that, there will be an XSL file called csv in the GSAK folder (on the PC). You will need to edit that file as stated in the above thread. The only thing you do on the PDA is to export the caches as HTML files in GSAK and copy the folder it creates (called cache) on to the SD card. You will also need to delete the existing overlay on the PDA and then send the new data from memory map to the PDA.

In the Program Files\GSAK folder. It's probably called csv even though its an XSL Stylesheet file
-
Terry, I did it all last night on my PDA and it's brilliant! If you get any snags pop round and I'll sort it out. You know you can trust me with your PDA!

Nice idea Alex, tickets bought thanks.

Another Memory Map Question...
The Hancock Clan replied to The Hancock Clan's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
This gets better! I've just had a quick look and it even lists the nearest caches to the one last viewed, separates the ones with TB's, lists unfound caches, density areas etc. This is a must for paperless caching!!! -

Absolutely brilliant!!! Cheers Andy, this is exactly what I wanted! -
Another Memory Map Question...
The Hancock Clan replied to The Hancock Clan's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
Thanks Andy, it very nearly works! I now understand how to alter the default link but it still says it can't find it. For some reason it's adding the text '&decrypt=y&pf=n&log=y' immediatley after each .htm filename. If I delete this extra bit it works fine, but I would have to do this for each cache. -
Another Memory Map Question...
The Hancock Clan replied to The Hancock Clan's topic in United Kingdom and Ireland
yes we are! -
Whenever I double-click on a cache icon on memory map it always connects to the geocaching.com page. Is there a way so that I can set it to open cache pages in an off-line browser (like in GSAK) without altering each one individually? This would be especially helpful on the PDA when out and about. I expect there is probably an export option on GSAK somehwere for this but I can't find it. Any ideas?

Well done Birdman-of-Liskatraz on your 200th cache! Nice to see you chose Devon for it
-
I had version 4.0.1 and had the same problem until I updated to a newer version of MM 2004. which is available here. Alternatively installing version 2003 also seems do the trick (you will need to use your 2004 registration details). Be careful though not to update to a 'year' version newer than your maps as they won't open.

Enjoy ... and when you've found it you might like to try its sibling Not as it seems (part two) Piece of cake!
